Once Kirk took command of the Enterprise, he wore Captain's stripes on his sleeves, suggesting that he was reduced in rank in order to command the Enterprise.
@StoneKnivesBearskins If I recall correctly it's an episode where the Xindi reach Earth and destroy it but through a time travel storyline Archer manages to travel to before the incident occurred at episode's end.
That last awkward silence between bones and kirk fits in so smoothly! Absolutely hilarious. lol It's a little odd that the probe woman is suddenly sitting back in her assigned seat after earth blows up... ;) Guess vija gave up on her and she reverted back to her memories of being in starfleet.
