The connection from this 'joke' to male perversity is that it is okay to say and demean a woman who in society may be considered a 'slut' or 'loose' by some standard. If a woman has done something 'un-ladylike', suddenly, no matter how young she is, it is o.k. to humiliate her publically. Both Jay Leno & Conan O'Brien made startlingly similar jokes during the presidential campaign. Palin didn't blow it out of proportion then because she was getting all the publicity she needed. If she's so worried about hurting her daughters with this joke, she shouldn't have made it a headline. NO ONE would have heard the joke (except viewers that night) if she hadn't made a big deal of it. Her daughters hearing it & being embarrassed by it is on her head.
