@dklordgarcia Someone might have made a makeshif disk weight or it could be because of a younger sibling. Very common for little kids to open the disk drive and put pennies and such in there for no reason.
I hate this drive it doesnt read half of my copied games, it reads all my originals fine. Do you know if the dvd drives in the original xboxes are married to the motherboard like the 360's or is it plug and play.
@REPOMAN24722 What exactly are you telling me? That you put a brand new dvd drive and board in it and it worked? Well if you did and didnt get it flashed, that was a 1 in a million chance because rarely do you happen to buy a dvd drive with the right firmware and updates.
@dirtastegood No it was a oem thompson drive, the early xbox droves it said OEM part in a yello sticker in a small cardboard box and came wrapped in blue plastic, I swapped it and it worked and I also put a maxtor 40g hard drive in it replacing the crappy 10gb seagate it came with.
my little brother knocked over my xbox, and the 360 was upside down, he put a disk on the upside-down tray, pressed the ejects button, and ripped the rubber band. I took it apart, and replaced the rubber band, and put it back together, but it doesn't work. please help.
Do you see those 2 rails that the laser slides along? If you are scratching cds, it might be that those are bent up too high, or the actual drive that spins the cd is bent too low.
hi iam sorry for bothering you but my cd drive doesnt open but it makes the clicking noise lke it wants to open and was wondering do you now how to fix that
How do I get under the tray?

I believe you would have to flash it and get firmware, like the 360.

Can you use an aircan to clean the dvd drive?
R3rules 2 years ago
Yes. Actually, that is a safer method, unless there is a substance that is on the lense.

Your actual drive seat is probably set too low, or is bent. Have you ever gotten into it before?

yes
