I live in Alton and have been in the McPike Mansion recently. Its scary just because of its foundation but it isn't this bad...Jesus Christ.

I dont belive any of this junk. I grew up in Alton and it was no more known for a "ghost town" than any other real old town in North America. Yes it had its stories and legends but its not like Alton is some haunted mecca. I know so many people that have walked in that house and none have reported anything weird. Your mind can let you think many things if you want it to. And just coinicidently a foggy mist appears when the ghost crew arrives...whatever.

I live about 10 minutes from the mansion and it is just the creepiest damn thing i've ever seen in real life, i have to fight to keep my husband from sneaking in there at night, he wants to so bad

@mrgrinch13 lol I was still there today & enjoyed every second of it besides the fact I was freezing my ass off, I couldn't go in but I at least peeked through one of the windows & could smell that old house smell & I love that smell when it comes to old houses. It's like a real musty smell & just by that smell I wanted to go in so bad. I got to go in there back in like 95 3 times for free cause my mom was helping her get tours going to raise money to fix it up, but I miss going in there so bad.

I've been in this house a couple times and nothing's ever happened other than the ghosts replying to questions using my dowsing rods. I'm sure it's really haunted, but I don't think it's as active and scary as these people make it out to be.

@1bloody1 lol dowsing rods I used those once, but really don't believe in them, I was in my car using them & they were crossing as if a ghost was replying.

i've been there before! when we went no one was allowed inside but when we were leaving we saw the shadow of somone walking in the top window of the house, very creepy...
