you could use slim to sneak close the king and jump at him that way. Much easier, because just like dimentio boss in3-3 he doesnt understand to attack you. I dunno why, but the flower sprout controlled cragnons remembered me about half life 2 zombies!

I see so many people use that strategy for the first phase of King Croacus. Why not just ride the smaller plants and torch him with Bowser? That's what I do.
