@mdr279 Ok then. Unless you got some super fancy electronic diff system that will automatically distribute most of the power to the front (or a normal diff that's constantly set up that way), flooring it on a slide *at a severe angle* will just kick the rear out more. To get out of the drift, you feather the throttle the same as a RWD, only here you can give it a little more since you got the front pulling you out and it's a little harder to spin out. Make sense?
@VladBlok28 I don't believe feathering would have been the right choice in this situation. Remember, evo's don't have an aggressive split of torque to the rear... I think it's between 50:50 and 40:60 front to rear. If he had of floored it and turned the wheel slightly to the left, I'm quite confident that he would have had a better chance of pulling the car out of the situation. If you've seen a Ken Block vid, he oftens just floors it and it straightens up eventually while drifting...
@mdr279 Ken block has one thousand billion bhp. What that does is just spin all the wheels and slide forever like insane, and after a while he can straighten it up (remember he is building speed while doing it). A normal evo cant quite do that. You can maybe spin all the wheels and go sideways but you cant maintain your speed. In fact, on tar you will most certainly decelerate and spin out (like the guy in the vid). Weight of the engine at the front VS nothing in the back, back will slide faster
@VladBlok28 Okay well that's my opinion and we can't actually determine who is correct. It just seems you have contradicted yourself... If flooring it will cause it to eventually just decelerate, then I can hardly imagine that feathering the throttle would be any better...
@mdr279 You would decelerate if you spun all the wheels and went sideways, that's what i said (which is not what would necesarily happen if you nailed the throttle). The difference with feathering is your front wheels still have grip and they are pulling, and weight is being shifted on the back but you are not spinning the rear wheels enough to worsen your oversteer. And you may not believe me, but i'm speaking from real life experience so i KNOW i'm right. Cheers :)
@mdr279 This of course is assuming you have normal tyres, if you put some special low grip tyres you could do what Ken does. Or if you go on snow or mud or whatever. But not on tarmac
dont you people know about the evos active yaw control?if you did you would realise that in the right hands the evo will go round corners faster than most road cars as power is split between the wheels depending on the pitch of the car in a corner, thus causing the effect of a controlled drift.
and as for comparing a scooby to an evo is quite stupid, scoobys just sound fast and dont really do owt else.people often over estimate them thinking that cos they won rallys that they are awsome.there not.
@elmarko99 He was doing that, until the point when he knew it was too little too late. Keeping your foot in it only works if you do it at the very start, plus the steering angle has to be correct, or you can get launched in the other direction
@sgddfgfghfgh Actually he did. He straightens the wheels once the car has slid and he knows he can't correct it. This would be down to him knowing he would end up backwards, and if his wheels were still turned he would spin back round onto the track infront of traffic
Not only is the lotus winning, as it should be, but this series is pretty lame. Terrible mix of cars. Get the caterhams out of the tin top field, and vice-versa... As for the spin... He's an idiot for getting a 4WD car sideways like that.
Rather whats up with all the people thinking Evo = Tokyo Drift, it's not true.
It could have been but it looks more like he came in too fast, let off the gas and the rear end slid out, it can happen. If he'd just stayed on the gas like someone said it'd sort itself out.
the only guy in a 4wd car and he still makes a balls of it

Seven driver made a mistake. You're supposed to aim AT the spinning car :)

Being an AWD, he should have nailed the throttle and soon as the angle got too severe. Would have straightened it right up
mdr279 6 months ago
@mdr279 Thats not how it works. I take it you never drifted a 4WD
VladBlok28 6 months ago
@VladBlok28 How does it work then? Enlighten me...

Guys, IS this becuase they removed the AYC system? or its surpasses that because of the torque? Or just driver error.

The idiot did not slow long enough to get the go ahead from the guys on the side of the track.
Its expected that the driver would not actually get out if he could still pull off the track, but he did not know. Funny but stupid.
