I love this car. Although it doesn't have the pedigree of the R8, I like the Acura LMP 1 better. It would be interesting to see the Acura LMP 1 go against the R8.
@vir123456 The ARX-02a would be significantly faster merely because of its more advanced aerodynamics. Its aero configuration allows for more downforce with much less drag compared to the R8.
Of course, use the pre 2004 rules for both cars and things might be different...
I'm not sure about the less drag notion. Highcroft and DeFerran avoided LeMans because of concerns over drag. I think a race between the R8 and the ARX-02a would be closer than most people anticipate on tracks in the ALMS.
They're using the LMP2s only this year due to the impending changes to the LMP1 engine regulations which will see a tweaked form of the current LMP2 engine rules be put in place. The LMP1 will have to be re-engineered to accept the smaller engine, so the Acura teams are focusing on engine development this year.
These sound exactly like the Indycars of 2010-2011

I believe they stopped development, but the teams will still run.
There should be 2 LMP1s, but with LMP1 and LMP2 combined now in ALMS, it makes more economic sense to do LMP2.
