Anytime you are admitted to the Hospital for a procedure be it large or small you are asked to sign something called an Advanced Directive. Advance Directives ask the patient to state their wishes regarding CPR, Life Support and in some cases Organ Donation. We need to make that a part of our routine Dr. visits as well. We ALL need to think about and prepare for the possibility that we may die tomorrow or be incapacitated and unable to express our wishes, none of us are promised tomorrow.
dude you are still stuck on liberal conservative bull wake up it is both demicans and republicrats that are getting shouted down over this one stop trying to make it bipartisan join the real revolution instead off coming off as a pompous douche try reading the bill dummy
So the bill says that the government wants to kill people? Okay, then just tell me where I can find that little tidbit in the bill and we can put this whole thing to rest. The idea of reimbursing doctors for end-of-life counseling is not partisan. It's just a good idea. Death certainly isn't partisan. It's nature. And what's this real revolution I should be joining? Btw, I am a SARCASTIC douche. Not a pompous douche. Get it right! :-) [p.s. That "dummy" comment hurt.]
I want to be put on life support for a X amount of time. After being taking off support I at no time want to be taking off the feeding tube. If I can breath on my on then FEED ME...mikma was here
Um, who exactly said anything about not doing ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING to keep people alive as long as possible? Certainly not me. Of course that's what ought to be done. No one said any differently. The fact is that regardless of how long a person lives, eventually, one day, they will die. Not because of some fucking "death panel", or whatever other fear-mongering bullshit Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh think up. But from the causes that kill people everyday (nature, accidental, murder, etc.). part 1
We should not make the taxpayer or government responsible for the decisions that family members make once someone is terminally ill.
Besides its the people like Ezy-kill Emanuel and bean counter Peter Orzag that puts these bills together with 'cost effective' treatments terminology that is in appropriate talk...you don't put a 'cost' on a person's life.
The whole bill is designed to make it legal to take the very money from citizens who paid into the system and divert it to more bailouts.
Once again, lots of claims with nothing to back them up. Where can I find an unbiased source that verifies any of this? NO ONE, with any sanity, is saying that the government should have ANY part in making these decisions AT ALL! They are only offering to pay for it when AND IF the people who are involved (the person themself most likely) decide to do it. IT'S FREAKIN' OPTIONAL! THE WHOLE THING IS OPTIONAL! part 1
You don't want to have anything to do with the new public option healthcare? THEN DON'T. You don't have to pay for it. You don't have to use it. But kindly stand out of the way of people who want it and can benefit from it. And maybe start relying a little more on the fact than playing on fear. part 2
Do you know how much of a mess it is when people die or are incapacitated and the people around them don't know their wishes? Have you fucking heard of Terri Schiavo? Would it have been a news story if there had been documentation of what Terri wanted in the case that she was in a vegetative state? No. There would have been no question. part 2
If you care AT ALL about your friends and family, end-of-life planning is a responsible thing to do at ANY AGE. But especially as you get older or you have a terminal illness and the likelihood of death gets closer. Not to end your life but to be prepared just in case. I guess it's hard for you to understand if you've never been through and/or if you're a moron. Also "end-of-life" is not an evil term. It's a factual term. part 3
It's not my fault that you fail to realize that no matter what you do, no matter how long you manage to prolong your life (and please do everything to do so), you will die one day like the rest of us. It is unavoidable. The question here is not when or how you will die, it is what should be done when it does happen. If you're going to debate, debate the facts. Not shit some people make up to scare other people.
All you gotta do is get a Living Will or DNR (if that's your choice). Every hospital has a form, you sign it and have it witneseed by 2 people who won't inherit from you. But people don't know this. And counseling for it should be available to everyone.

Why don't you focus on 'keeping people alive' instead of 'preparing people for death'?
Everyone has potential including the elderly, sick and the poor.
And quit using this stupid evil terminology: end-of-life.
We should be doing everything we can in science to keep people alive and live longer.
You're a moron dude, just do us a favor and prepare your own death while the rest of us will live as long as we can.
