Unfortunately, the Ishikawa version is so definitive that anyone who tries to sing it in her wake is going to sound weak by comparison. It's like when people try to do Otis Redding's "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay." No way can anyone top a singer of that stature.

I will give you that you took some chances with this classic and you're hot. Plus you have good taste in music. Just keep doing whatever is fun for you.
