You can hear the passion in this song. Back then, this song had more meaning considering the times when this song was made ( Civil Rights, Segregation) everyone was united North South East and West fighting for equality.
There was no competition who was the better singer, no contracts, or promos. This song motivates me and prays that one day all churches no matter of there denomination and praise God as one body.
Back then, these songs had more meaning considering the social and political envioronment of the time (segregation, civil rights). Also, there was no competition to know who is the best singer it was for the love of Jesus. You can here the strife and emotion in the song from the lead to the choir its like they sing this song because they meant that they were Soliders for Christ.
Some of the 60s groups knew about diction. Example: Roberta Martin Singers, they possessed some of the finest phrasing and diction of the Golden Era. I think part of the problem here is the recording quality. This is a HOB Records recording, and in the 50s and 60s, Savoy Records had some of the best recording quality when it came to recording gospel.
u must also understand the quality of the recording its very old from around 63'-66' and its also a HUGE choir and so the more voices, the more words, and the faster the beat the harder it is to pronounce every single word. also other gospel groups possibly might have better equipment than most.
Wat is the choir sayin durin the chorus? I like this!!
