My great-great grandparents were Shetland Islanders and in 1872 they went to England and boarded the Star of India (Euterpe). They sailed to New Zealand. It took them five months and one of their children died of pneumonia and was buried at sea. It's amazing to think of the courage it must have taken to embark on such a journey. I hope I can stand on the deck one day.
I went on the californian but not the star of india but while on the little rowboat thing(OMG its so hard to row) and I passed by the star of india.Pretty cool experience!
I realy want to come onboard the Star of India sometime next year. I just love sailing and climbing tall ships like the Star of India an the Norwegian wessel Christian Radich.
I'm from Florida and went to The Mueseum last summer and was on the Star. What a great boat! Although Iwould love to sreal the Suprise some night and head for the Caribbean. HA HA
haha I know all of those people!!

all ships are haunted.
They are Mother/sister/lover to so many men that us sailors can't help but remain after.

You don't have to be a sailor, but you do have to be an old guy with facial hair.

Great that the san diegans have been able to keep the old girl going and not shoved her into dry dock.
