Hey dude, this looks great. Hope you manage to get some power from it. What kind of material is it? I just wondered if you had treated the material to make it less porous and more aerodynamic? You can buy a wax spray online that would do the job nicely. Have you got a generator for it yet? I would be interested to hear about the power output. Hey check mine out too, I'm making giant one at the moment.
You could add some magnets and well, perhaps some other things in star tetrahedral geometry, Might be able to generate an electromagnetic field that could transit through space/time.
Cool! Sailing on the sea of land. Poke the illuminati in the eye for me will ya. You are inspiring me to get to my vawt project. Hardcore in the ice and snow. The thrill can't keep you down, I get it!
Nice job!! Spins so well, looks very well balanced...can't wait to see it engaged! I was supposed to stop by the library today to look into gears/ratios, but it's so-o-o-o cold outside...wind is really kicking up a storm. Still working on the design of my own version...we get micro-bursts here and I want to get it right the first time...kudos! L
Would you believe the wood for this is from a Roller Coaster they tore down here in Tulsa. That stuff is treated wood and will last longer than me and is Expensive. Yes, the balancing is one of the most important details to a good frame.
I hope very soon to replace the bearings on this with a magnet design I've engineered that will give this unit ZERO resistance and Zero wear on it's suspension. Once that's done I'm hoping the speed increase will triple or more :)
Great job I bet it will work out great .I bet you cant wait to get it working so it will thaw out the hot tub before the girls get there.keep us updated.
LOL the illuminati thing...it would be perfect: The All Seeing Eye over a vortex...LOL...now seriously: it became really beautiful, like a Calder's mobile or something...congrats!
I'm working with a guy to put a transmission system on it that would actually kick in a power brake system in the event that the unit get to a high speed. Also the transmission would work like a automatic transmission and kick the gearing to different gears for the generator speed. I have to achieve about 2500 RPM for the generator to achieve my power output. :)
We had a storm blow through here last week. This thing was spinning something serious. I mean it was really kicking some butt. This has always been the problem with all my generators so far so I went out and got some rope in the rain and tied it into a locked position until the storm blew through.
It make it though :) All the others have been destroyed to date. It will be completed soon :) Miss Ya :)
@WulfBand instead of rope lock you should tie the sail covers with knots you can release easily. that way you can untie them and collect the sail from the blades.
more work to get them on again but at least the sails don't get damaged ;)
I know a tiny bit about sailboat sails and that stuff is expensive.

Plenty of info out there about similar stuff.

How funny :) I didn't think about the vortex thing lol, it is appropriate though :)
Thanks

You did it!!! (you're so smart...)
But would it stand up to 80 mph winds like we have each month here in the south of France?? lol <3 <3 <3
