@phonesthesia Yes it was. Actually, it's on YouTube. Just put "Comet on it's way 2001 workshops" and it'll come up. I was just listening to it Earlier today. =)
Was Comet on It's Way even performed in any of the workshops? That one was cut pretty early on I thought. There Once Was A Pirate was cut when they decided that they didn't want Melchior to rape Wendla, they wanted it to be more loving between the two.
same this scene is so good....its horrible when wendla and frau bergman are walking around and wendla's like 'who lives in this house mama' all innocent and you just know whats going to happen next....plus combining mama who bore me and touch me is so perfect for this part, it sums up the situation for wendla perfectly.
i love the touch me reprise first time i heard it it really touched me soul i kinda got a lil teary eyed cuz that song truly is wat a teen feels never knowing for sure if there dissions and actions r rite i love how she sings TELL ME PLZ ALL IS FORGIVEN=( this is the saddest scene ever and i really wish they had kept the touch me reprise wen i saw the tour cast i was really sad that they didnt sing it it really shuld have been kept
I actually like this, I wish they had kept it. It's easy to not notice Wendla being sent away, especially when you are onstage, this makes it prominent.
See, I wish they would have kept this! It gave Phoebe/Anna more time to shine and I just thnk it made the whole thing flow so much better and much more sad.
I agree. I just watched Spring Awakening again yesterday and this part would have enhanced so much more. It's just a few verses of song, but definitely makes a difference.
i saw this on google video. During the oart when that practitioner takes her away, she shreiks out "MAMA." I don't know about everyone else's political views, but i think abortion is disturbing. And even though she was sick, it was obvious that the whole abortion would only make it worse. It's so, so sad.
This song was cut from the show once the show made it to Broadway.
It's the scene where Wendla is given the abortion and then... well you know the rest. Melchior is also at the Reformatory and he is beaten up because of the letter he has received, which makes him look like a 'pansy'.
The song is Anna's and performed by the amazing, talented, and lovely Phoebe Strole.
Wendla's mother is taking her to a doctor that will give her illegal abortion pills. At the same time, Melchior is being beaten up by boys at his reformatory school for not wanting to take part in their group masturbation.
i dont have the link so just go to google videos and type in Spring Awakening....then go to the little box that says durations and go to greater than 20 the 1st video that shows up should be it
"Wendla, darling, this s someone who will help us..."
"...with what?"
Oh Wendla :(

at 1:10, Lea's "With what?" is so heartbreaking... she sounds so small and helpless :(

@Sophieste163, It isn't Lea, it's Phoebe.
I so wish they'd kept it in. It made it so much more intense.

LilMsCB 2 years ago
Whispering was still there. This song was just cut and not replaced by any other song.

I really wish they had kept this part in; I think it would make the scene flow better and be less rushed.

I really wish they kept this. Its so beautiful and lets Anna really shine! The scene also makes more sense, in my opinion.

dewe52 2 years ago
its just the reformatory fight scene, and a small exchange between the abortionist and Frau Bergmann.

not sure. Maybe it might of been seen as disturibing to the audience?
ajnxbonez 3 years ago
no, he just beats the hell out of them after he finds out that she's pregnant, then run off. no rape in the musical

When Wendla says "who lives in this house?" I die a little bit inside. It's incredibly sad.

i always thought this scene was so incredibly sad, shocking, and horrifying at the same time
ajnxbonez 3 years ago 4
I really wouldn't call it rape,
although in the off broadweay version, he fingers her and she says "yes"
then they have sex.
