I think those animations are still very unique and awesome, because still, you can't get those organic FX with digital equipment even today. Try to put real toilet paper into an AfterFX layer.

I think the cheesiness adds a little charm to it all 30-something years later. I'm not so sure we'll be celebrating/mocking today's CGI in 30 years.
