Disagree. Tom Baker is used so much because all US-gagwriters are around 40-50 years old and grew up watching his episodes as teens during the 70's. In around 20-30 years time a new generation of script-writers will make references of the 9th-10th doctor they have grew up with.
I think the writers are smarter than that. I think they know the difference between a tv show that knew itself, wasn't like the others, wasn't trying to be anything other than itself, and had found an identity for itself (albeit only as an accident of the times and the people doing it). The drwho they knew was wonky and iconoclastic. That's why it made an impression. Drwho has been done by different people and they have not done the same show. The writers are hip enough to tell the difference.

The first episode of Doctor Who I've seen was "Pyramids of Mars" with Tom Baker back in 1983. I was barely getting out of seventh grade at the time. I was always a horror fan and liked his episodes that played with those themes. I wished Eccleston would have stayed on for one more year at least. Would've been nice. His season was more like a mini-series with self-containted stories.

We can't do that, BBC iPlayer doesn't work overseas. Half the BBC Doctor Who site doesn't either, for that matter. It sucks.

The TARDIS will be replaced by a box of Trojan Magnums. The new Companion will be a jar of slightly used Vaseline, with pubic hairs stuck to it that will be used to clone the Master.

Christ you Brits are slow. The entire series is shutting down after the '08 season THEN returning in 2010. Will Tennant return? Who the fuck knows. Maybe Graham Norton will be the next Doctor. All you motherfuckers are gonna be glued to BBC ONE either way.
