I like her version better than Don Henley/Eagles' orginial. She sings with much more passion and emotion than Henley did. Ironically, she and Henley were and are very good friends. Don met Glenn Frey when they were both in Linda's backing band in the early 70's.
@Clof1959..i m so glad for u, finally finding that one true soul mate. i was in the same boat, after being divorced (twice, and both times the exs hooked up with younger women, which made me feel kinda being put out to pasture), i didn't dare to luv another, but i refused to feel like an inferior being, i m me, i like myself more these days, more confident, n m thankful i still have my limbs n health in tact at my age. i luv both versions, the eagles n linda's. peace n love to all listeners!
I've Always Loved Linda's version of this Song but the Eagles will always be my Favorite because it was Men singing about a Man in my mind & My Imagination worked overtime being a Cowboy myself..
After my divorce from my Wife I just didn't trust anyone to love me with an Honest Heart until I met my Angel Robby.
When I looked deep into his Eyes I saw not only an Honest Heart but a Loving Soul too.
i think the order is:
Linda Ronstadt album version < Karen Carpenter album version < Linda Ronstadt live version

@samcahoon It takes a mathematician to put it so succinctly and accurately.
A superbly accurate observation :)

How can anyone really compare these two angelic voices?
They are both truly amazing. Love them both forever.

Robby had me from that first look.
