  • the woman is bad..just bad looking they could take another nice girl.

  • Nice i like this!

  • I think this video was very helpful.

  • This guy has to be a barber...

  • Who agrees that expertvillage is never good for shit!

  • Do you hear the guy say, "Let's wrap this clip up."? LOL

  • am i the only one who overlooks his faults and sees the painting in the background??? you want something to complain about, just look at the painting!!!! its a half naked lady!!!!!!

  • what is he "painting" on?! N where is his gloves!!! Garbage! Makes cosmetologists look like idiots! SERIOUSLY! He doesn't even know what he is doing!

  • everything about this video is incorrect. i hope no one uses his techniques. he can't even fold the foil over the comb correctly.

  • its very brassy? needs a good toner

  • Expert village has the most UN-helpful videos ive ever seen always incomplete and impossible to find the continuation.

  • That is exactly what she needs is a color correction. I am not trying to be rude but this guy needs to take some more color classes. His sectioning is messy and her color looks like shit!

  • Is that a girl or a guy ?

  • Why dont you weave through the sections and pick out every other peice so it looks more evenly dispersed?

  • @CellarDoor367 my guess is he's doing the slicing technic. Slicing is mostly for streaking the hair. If someone came to me and wanted natural looking high lights I'd weave it. I'd slice like he's doing if they wanted streaks or chucks of blonde. It looks like he's high lighting and low light using slicing to make streaks to give it a chucky or sliced look. That's my guess anyways.

  • this sucks! Horrible and not professional!

  • He is hot!

  • that is not wat u do

  • why u r not using bleach??

  • She looks like she needs a color correction, not highlights.

  • I see by all of the comments, that hairstylists are still all bitches

  • @grandmasbuttons lol this is funny. hey all! i posted 7 videos showing how i highlight my own hair from start to finish. check out my subscriber page. hope it helps. :) see part 1 through part 7. :)

  • @LastTrain2N0Were Oh see I thought she went from a plane crash to a Nuclear Holocaust? Or was is more of an Armageddon?

  • @LastTrain2N0Were Oh see I thought she went from a plane crash to a Nuclear Holocaust? Or was is more of an Armageddon?

  • is she wearing a garbage bag? :/

  • FFW to end product..

  • these are low lights..bleach would be white and i would hope he would of weaved the hair cuz shes blond enough

  • "im super tough, and im a hair stylist too!"

  • so what were gunna go ahead and do is...

so what were gunna go ahead and do is...

were gunna go ahead and do...

  • @ninjakittyX Haha!!! I know!! He doesn't have a diverse vocabulary and he needs to go back to school and take extra English classes!!! ROFL

  • im getting highlights this sunday cant wait

  • its not bleach. its color lol. bleach is white

  • @barbee54321 bleach is blue actually. And depending on how strong the bleach it it wont always turn your hair white. Almost all of the time it'll keep it an extremely light yellowy blonde

  • how do u get rid of the writing on the screen??

    its annoying!!

  • Smart people find things to learn in the internet instead of wasting money.

  • if that is bleach, why are you putting it on her ends?? it will fry!

  • shut up popisdeadthx seriouslyy?!?! maybe people wanna know how to do this because they dont have the money to pay 130 dollars just to get half head highlights!!!! shiitt now a days people like to go cheapp and they wanna learn how to highlight there hair by them selves so it doesnt turn out like shit!!! gosh damn

  • i love the painting in the background

  • People pay a lot money to become licensed so that they can preform these techniques legally. This sort of thing should not be available on the internet for any old person to watch. It isn't legal to preform these services at home! This isn't fair to the people that pay for the licensing and work hard to learn and be able to legally do these techniques.

  • If you want to teach, why don't you become an instructor for a a company such as Matrix or Redken? They will pay you lots of money to make these video to sell and/or post on websites that are confidential to cosmetologist only.

  • If you crease the foils like that you'll get demarcations in the color on the hair!

  • it's actually right what he's doing, if you go to a salon and ask for highlights or lowlights, this is what they do.

  • Why the hell are you coming up ubder my personal search hey fellow take me off your keyword list WRONG PERSON to mess with and you are a BADDDD haurdresser

  • agree with 120848, you can't fold foil like that...

  • Tip: If the foils are falling off, you're putting too much hair in the foil

  • So basically if your client wants to go from car crash to train wreck, this is what you do.

  • @SeriouslyRobbie baahaaahahhha lol

  • Also, notice that they don't show us the end result. I imagine that's because it looked really bad.

  • Maybe he is low-lighting to break up that blonde?

  • what does this guy think he's doing?? ecpertvilliage videos are awful!

  • you're not a cosmetologist, and if you were... what kind of school did you go to? cuz it SUCKEDD.

  • why do people put videos like this on? he obviously has never gone to college as most of the things he is doing are wrong, things like this just do not help others, mate dow even bother ! ! !

  • Don't fold the foils because color need air. The foil that is being use is for wrapping food not hair. I love the fact that you are trying to educate.

  • @120848 hahahahaha fuuny.........food is for wrapping food not hair! HAHAHAHAHAHAH! lol

  • @120848 I mean foil..........

  • she does not look like she needs anymore highlights lol

  • Katalynn6! Us cosmetologists are here to fix the fuck ups these people make from not understanding this video! And when it comes to slicing yes it is called slicing there is not rule on how big the parting has to be. If you want a dramatic chunky look then yes 1/2 to 3/4 inch is fine! And to the person who said foiling and highlighting are different things you are sadly mistaken! And did he even say he was using bleach?! And this isnt something you can just do by your self!

  • Im not sure what his doing....his obviously not using bleach as it does not look like bleach... And if it is bleach, why is he going all they way to the tips? Not a good video... I'm sure it came out horrible which is why they dont show the end result.

  • her hair is awful to begin with.

  • I agree. What colors is he using? her hair is BLACK, then brassy, then blonde. He is going all the way down the shaft. His partings are too thick, I want to see how this turns out. What about when she pulls her hair back in a ponytail?

  • why is he putting the solution all the way down to the end when she is getting her hightlight updated. surely it is hard on the hair to have the ones already bleach to be bleahed each time?

  • He called this Baliage but this is Slicing. Baliage does not use any foils.Plus he's folding and squeezing the foils too much.

Product will push out the open end near the scalp and cause bleeding if you are not careful! Ugh! Just go to a salon people!

  • can u use normal kitchen foil too? O_o

  • yes but you have to handle it much more gently as it tends to rip easier and not be as flexible

  • he's doing block highlights... meh... weaving creates better results.

  • lol if I saw him on the street, he would not look like a hair stylist.

  • this guy isnt that bad, but most of the stylists from expertt village SUK!

  • Well done.

  • what does the foil do? does it help the hair get lighter?

  • it probably keeps that section IN a section and separated from the rest of the hair...

  • it helps speed up the time of the coloring process. With out it, it just takes longer.

  • hair suppliers has way better stuff than chemist crap that leaves your hair brassy yellow and its way cheaper too!

  • thank you!!

you are teh most helpful vid ive seen so far

  • 3:23 ...LOL@ the guy in the background telling him to wrap this clip up.

  • where do u get that black brush

  • At any beauty supply store.

  • does it come with the kit

  • Some may but I know you can definitely get the brush by itself.

  • ok tnx

  • great video but god, I hate these new youtube ads !

  • Haha! He doesn't put any dye on his brush! Or does he? He fakes applying it, but there's no dye used.

  • her roots are nasty!

  • this isnt highlighting... her hair doesnt have "highlights" it is purely blonde. good tips on foling htough.

  • As for the comment on not folding the ends of the foil, dont push the dye at the same time and you wont dye ur head. Stop being so rude, hes done well and he can take as much time as he likes least hes doing it properly!

  • this is exactly how the salon lady did my highlights I have.

  • I think his instructions were accurate, professional, and his technique is very good. Thanks for these helpful tutorials! 5+ stars.

  • When your folding the foil your not supposed to fold the ends in because the color will go to the rutes and stain your scalp.

  • this guy>clip is completely misleading on my point of view

  • hey could anybody help me out i have black hair and i wanna go blond, and my hair is very thin :( wat can i do ?? i dont want to wreck my hair

  • There's nothing wrong with going to a salon and getting a colourist to do it for you.

  • Go to a salon. Because If you do it yourself at home. EVEN if you do use professional colors. The hair Might break.

  • hair dye and 40 volum peroxide

  • wow dude .. your like so worried about folding the foil perfect .. who cares her hair is going to he hiding it anyway .. it doesn't have to look all pretty. your just making the highlighting process even longer.

  • yeah that is not boliage, that is slicing lol, and he must be doing lowlights because i never seen a clear bleach before.

  • FYI its not called boliage... its called SLICING!

  • so where is the next section???? why do you have to fold the foil with the comb right at the beggining??

  • yea but still, i saw no liquid on the brush

  • the hair wouldn't have stuck to the foil if there was no liquid on the brush..its just the camera angle/lighting

  • there wasnt even any color on the brush!

  • yes cuz he's doing highlights, not a real color. he bleaches some of her hair

  • Sorry,

    but this is just

    "terrible".I

    rather go to the

    salon.

  • he did it wrong... are those highlights or foils? cause foils and highlights are differnt to eachother?...and when he put the foil on that small secton he folded on teh foil was supposed to be under neath not on top...so it stop accsess colour sinking in from under.. lol his so lost

  • this is so terrible.

NOBODY highlight your hair like this, please.

  • It seems that alot of people comenting are experts already, then why the heck are you looking at this "how to" video? I think he gave a pretty straight forward explanation.

  • this is a terrible application. You will end up going to a salon to get it fixed! do this and you are damaging your hair and waisting your money

  • u did it wrong and im gonna use white highlights for my black hair ^-^

  • I thought that you were supposed to add more dye into each strand, by the way those strands are too thick and that is a misery of dye lol!!you just plain out SUCK!!

  • that would make the hair look very chunky not weaving the hair before you put it in the foil. and that is not the balayage technique like you mentioned. the balayage technique is putting on hilites without foil, cap just hand painting it on the hair. doing this at home will never look as good as if you go to a salon, thats just fact. you will do your hair ten end up in a salon to get it fixed.

  • hey umm..please help..what if i have brown hair and i want to get red highlights...do i just put it on or do i have to buy something else to bleach it first? PLEASE HELP!

  • you have to buy something to bleach it first b/c my friend tried doing the same thing and she had to bleach it first you should go to the beauty salon closer to you and the one which you trust and ask them then you can go ahead and have someone do it or just do it yourself!! =D

  • Hes doing tht soo wrong lol

i dont no anyone who highlights hair like tht

    DONT DO IT ..anyone !

  • thank you so much for the tips. I use foil, but i never thought of folding it like that. That helps a lot. My hair will turn out like i want. Thanks again.

  • I think your best bet is to go to a salon- please don't try this at home!

If you can't afford a good salon then please go give your local beauty school some business! They need the practice and have instructors RIGHT THERE to make sure you don't end up with bad color! Plus you don't pay that much in a school to have services done!

  • You NEVER take sections that thick if you are using bleach or lightener! I am a licensed cosmetologist and I don't know how people can post video's like this! You CAN take larger/thicker sections if adding a darker color not bleach.

  • I appreciate a good down to earth video like this one. It's simplified, and demostrated slow enough to really follow. Thanks for the nice video!

  • i would have thort doing highlights like that would just look really chunky and not very natural at all. I Would take quite fiine sections and weave them close together to make them look really natural

  • I am currently studying cosmetology and even I was a bit confused by his partings and sections. They were a bit too big to look natural. But hey, I'm sure he knows what he's doing.

  • ew, what a dumb technique to highlight someone's hair. he should go from the back of the head to the front, not side to side, unless she wanted her hightlights to look like panels. did this guy even go to beauty school?

  • Geesh...I didn't mean for that to be a bad comment, i just meant, u know, that a lot of people decide to do hair at home and it makes it really hard for stylists to keep up their clientel that way....I think they did a great job w/ the video, and If i woulda thought of that, i woulda made a video like that too. I have my license, but i'm such a small area that it's hard to make money doin that, so now i'm working in a completely different field. I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

  • It's sad really, all this guy has to do is show you how to do it on the internet, and BAM! you can do it at home. But, yet for some reason to work in a salon you have to have a license, and pay 60 bucks every 2 years for a renewal and then pay for 8 hrs of con-ed!! WTF!? It makes me second think why i went into the Cosmetology field....

  • well.... NOBODY CARES WHAT YOU SAY

  • you make it LOOK SO EASY ! :(
