Richard is great in selecting the perfect pitch for Karen. He probably listened to his own recorded voice in finding the proper pitch and key to this song. It works. It does remind me of the high quality voice of Peter Cetera. I wonder if he has anymore songs? Please post some more of Richard's song. Maybe his music career can be revived.

Brilliant! the last posters comments are bollocks. I loved Time and still remember buying it on cassette when it was released in 1987. Not really knowing what it would be like I sat in the car park for ages listening before heading home. Really wish Richard had done more albums like this he's a great artist in his own right and should not be compared to Karen.

Well I think they kind of shared vocals to see how it worked, but obviously it didn't work...they decided she WAS the one with the voice...the one people loved, and would contribute greatly to their sound. Don't get me wrong. He has a nice voice, but judging from this solo album I am sure they realized it would not sell as well, compared to an album with Karen's voice on it.

I liked the "Time" album, too. RC was always unnecessarily self conscious about his vocals - but that's his perfectionistic personality! I always found it interesting that they shared lead vocals on the "Ticket to Ride" album.

"Time" CD. I love the entire album. I do not understand why they could not find a picture of Karen for the video, but that's just my thought. She is greatly missed.

I thought the album was very good. He DOES worry too much about his vocals. He doesn't have the voice that Karen had, but nobody ELSE ever measured up to her either, IMO. This album makes you realize that he could create the "Carpenter sound" even without her, but of course it was never as good.

Electrifying. Stupendous. The sound quality on the recording is so crystal. I love it that he avoided using a generic choir and instead dropped in a Carpenters sounding choir. I love the sinewy synth in the intro and also the slinking guitar near the end. The lyric is so special when interpreted about Karen. I love the way he fades out with vibrato on the word "see" in the line "the last one I needed to see." His lead vocal isn't perfect, but I love to hear Richard on lead. Real quality.
