It was in Christmas(Of all days) in 1989 when drove drunk and crashed to his death.

When the Yankees won 20 titles from 1923-1962 there were 8 teams in each league and the team with the best record in each league went straight to the World Series. Now you have three rounds of the playoffs to go through and the talent is thinned out throughout baseball. Bottom line is it's a lot harder to win a WS now than it was 50 years ago.
