@otreborzedalav1 - I appreciate the comments! I wanted to be more in-depth, but that can come later! I have yet to fire it and I cannot wait! Thank you for watching and commenting...
@littleandres09 - Dude, I was skeptical, but I did my homework. Sure it is not an old Colt or a newer Kimber, but it is a fine firearm. OK, so I have not fired it yet, but the action and everything about it so far tells me "good quality"... thank you for the comments!
THANKS! Yeah I think the fact that the finish is dull-parkerized made the grips look great, plus it looks great in the FOBUS polymer holster. I have not shot the 1911 in a LONG time and I look forward to putting the RIA thru the paces.
nice review on the Rock island M1911, the grip you chose really is good looking addition, much better on the lighting my friend, the close up shots were still lighted, not in the shadow. I have shot the 1911, it's a nice gun but I got the S&W M&P 40 cal, to carry, sweet gun also.
Nice gun for the money. I have a S/S Colt Enhanced Government Model I purchased back in the early 90's brand new for $500, and I thought that was a lot of money at the time. I only added a beaver tail grip safety because I got hammer bite, other wise it is stock. I love the .45 ACP, and it is one gun I will never part with.
@Bigoldjeff1956 - Thanks for the comments! Yeah, I am totally budget... I mean I won't get cheaply made firearms, but rather quality guns at the right price-point. I would never have considered the RIA except for all the research I did to find a very favorable take on their workmanship and reliability. Plus it was on sale... thanks for watching!
@gbounit My first 1911 was a bare bones Springfield Armory, parkerized much like your RIA gun. So I totally understand budget guns. I liked it, but eventually sold it for something else. I saved up and went to the Pomona gun show and finally got my S/S Colt 1911, which is what I always wanted. Back then you could buy most handguns in the $250-$350 range, so $500 was a lot of money at the time. Some times you just have to treat yourself, because you will own the gun for the rest of your life.
@Bigoldjeff1956 - thanks for sharing that, & I agree 100%. I just wish I was smart enough to purchase back in the day. I did get a Colt King Cobra (nickel finish) that I have babied years ago, & I believe I got it for $400...I was at the Orange Country gun show, & saw a brushed version for $1350... I said, "I'm gonna keep that Colt..."
As for treating myself, I know what you mean; when I save up enough, there is always some RIA or Ruger that I get. And I now want a Glock 9mm. I have no 9mm.
Outstanding video/review. Thank you.
