  • Lorie vs. Leslie... I can remember them fighting over a guy...i was just a kid...my mom use to get mad at lorie !!

  • At 3:15, Anthony Herrera. Anthony Herrera was a GREAT actor! His most famous role was playing the evil James Stenbeck on the soap opera, ATWT. James Stenbeck was ranked the second most evil villian in soap opera history(the first was DOOL's Stefano Dimera). James Stenbeck was someone that even Victor Newman would have a hard time dealing with. James Stenbeck was killed off near ATWT's cancellation.

    Anthony Herrera passed away recently.

    R.I.P. Anthony Herrera(January 19, 1944 - June 21, 2011)

  • At 2:55, that's what Phillip Chancellor II would look like if he were still alive.

  • i would like to see the 70's episodes. but i will never see them. saaaad. that i will never see the foster and brooks and the lovestory of snapper (david hasselhoff) and nikkis sister casey reed

  • Whoo, that music is haunting!

  • Is the actor who played Philip the same one who appeared on Love of Life?

  • wow!!! thank u so much for posting this!

  • What happen to Peggy Brooks?

  • Hi Im Tory Tompkins from Houston Texas, Singer songwriter musician actress. My Mom is Bond Gideon who was Jill Foster # 2 in Y&R in 1980 for a short while. Im looking for anyone who might have some VHS tapes of when she was on the show and some pictures. She said David Hasselhoff was on the show when she was there. She was also a regular on Operartion Petticoat as Lt Claire Reid.

  • 5:07 IS Y& R for me==the Brooks sisters

  • who is the author to the song blue image? does anyone know?

  • @homesicktoo The composers were: Don McGinnins, Jerry Winn, and Bob Todd, (Nadia's Theme) was done by Barry De Vorzon And Perry Botkin Jr.

  • who is the author to the song blue image? does anyone know?

  • I love this music! What is it? It`s music from the show?

  • @crownandanchor123456 The name of the song playing is called "Blue Image" and it was used on the show from the 70's up until around the mid 80's.

  • @coolwafferman

    They didn`t use Nadia`s Theme?

  • @crownandanchor123456 Yes, see "Y&R" had a soundtrack. Nearly all of the original cast members had their own song. It would normally play when they are for a couple seconds then fade out when they are on. Nadia's Theme was always the theme. In fact, sometimes after the show ended they had a vocal version of Nadia's theme. You can hear it on my custom made Y&R closing.

  • they need to put the winters family in the forefront

  • Great to see Bill Espy as the original [and best] Snapper!

  • This is such an awesome video! You've done such a wonderful justice to this fantastic soap! Brings back such memories. Thank you, thank you!

  • great was the storyline of Ron becker waiting at Chris's apt to rape her and ends up raping her younger daughter.....I think her name was peggy.....it was shot really well and y&r did a good job with victim and attacker....

  • the show should have never brought the "jill is katherines daughter" story line at all!!and what should have been done when elizabeth died she should have said jill IS MY DAUGHTER!! but it didnt go that way.....and they should have had a decent burial too....a column she was on the show....these players that brought that soap the respect and the foundation of what after 30 years we are still talking about

  • cont'd.......Kay was admitted to the nuthouse where she gave another patient her classic ring. The hospital caught fire, Kay escaped, but when they found the burned body with the ring they assumed it was Kay. Kay had caught on to being drugged and once it wore off she returned to the house, remained hidden and gave Suzanne a "dose of her own medicine" so to speak. She kicked Derek and Suzanne out. Just the best of times. I feel sorry for today's fans that missed all these fantastic episodes.

  • Amazing after 37 years any story with Katherine is great to watch. In the summer of 78 Kay hired stud Derek to work in her stables. His money hungry wife Suzanne came to town and divised a plan for Derek and Kay to marry. Once done, Kay's estate would eventually belong to Derek (and her). To get Kay out of the way for good, she started "feeding" Kay pills that made her crazy, and she staged all these horrible things in the house for Kay to stumble upon. Hilarious!

  • In the 6/20 week of 2010 Liz Foster dies of cancer w/Jill, Snapper and Greg all by her side...

  • @tajmulhall I know, I saw that episode. It was so stupid that they brought Liz Foster back just to kill her off. At least they could of had her in scenes at Kay's house, but she comes back just to be in the hospital. It was still good to see the Foster's back together.

  • @tajmulhall and i am stunned that the soap didnt have even a memorial service for this character........the young and the restless, today, is such a disappointment.....

  • Y&R will never, ever be this GOOD again.

  • You missed Carl & Mary Williams in the cast. Otherwise, nice job!

  • This was the kind of music that got me hooked. It seemed so much more refined than the music on any other soap, and drew you in to what was happening. The best cues (mostly composed by Don McGinnis, Jerry Winn, and Bob Todd) gradually went away in the 1980's, and the show has never been the same without them. It's an injustice to the many fans that a large majority of the early background music remains largely unreleased to this day, aside from a small number of cues on the 1970's LP.

  • My Grandmother and I used to watch this show... from where ever we were... it was something that bonded us... then she got Alzheimers and she lost who i was...but she remembered who the characters were so it was still something we had in common ....then she lost that too... so this show... will always remind me of her...and how it added a little bit of glamor to her life ( she worked 35 yrs in a small hospital laundry department)

  • I feel the same way, as most of these posters! I loved the show when it centered around the Brooks and Foster families. Once the Williams family replaced the original core cast, it lost something. I don't care how many years pass, there is only ONE Jill Foster, and thats Brenda Dickson. Jess is a good actress.... she is just NOT Jill. I have not watched the show in 15 years or so, but enjoy coming to youtube to watch the vintage stuff.

  • Please do a follow up to this.....there was so much good background music back then. They should have used this song or some of the others for the baby switching story between Ashley & Sharon...they used to do that for the milestones. Wish I could get a copy of this.

  • Y&R was best in its first years during the reign of the Fosters, Brooks and of course the Dutchess! It was greatest when the music playing (I still listen to this album) was the backgound music.

  • Very well done!! I just loved this.I remember most of this and what I didn't actually see I had heard about. Thank you for refreshing my memory and thanks for the memories.!

  • oh my god, talk about bringing back memories !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    this video is w o n d e r f u l !!!!!!!!!!!

i was just a little kid back in 1973, but i remember watching this when it was just a half hour everyday...... you dont realize how much time has gone by until you see something like this - and the original music was great to hear again.....

those were the best young and restless years,

    love, billy ralph weeden.

  • Have to repeat what I posted on World of Soap Themes a few years back. Amazing the Y&R had FOUR blonde older matriarchs, two long suffering mothers (Jennifer and Liz) and two selfish, wealthy widowed bitches ( Katherine and Vanessa). When Katherine drove Phillip off of a cliff in her drunk driving stupor, I wanted HER dead !!! And Vanessa's dramatic suicide? Thank you dalehinely (above) for sharing the details with younger fans here.

  • This is a great clip. I also miss the Brooks family. Does anyone have the clip (originally aired March 1975) of where the Brooks girls confront mom Jennifer about her affair with Bruce Henderson? It was Y & R at its best. Oh, for the good old days!

  • Those are classic clips. My favorites back then were Brenda Dickson and Jaime Lyn Bauer. I did like the recast of the Brooks sister and I miss them. I wish they would bring them back. I have managed to like the present Jill

  • I've been a fan of the Y&R since the beginning, with Brad Eliot coming into town, with amnesia in a truck. I miss the old days of the Brooks and Foster families. I think its time for some of them to return to the fold or its time for some new families in Genoa City, how much more of the Abbotts and Newmans can we stand.

  • I agree with you 100%. It is time for Y&R to create a new family. It's been just about 30 years of the Newman's and Abbott's. It is definitely time for something new with the show.

  • im 20 years old nd i watch y&r today, nd i gotta jus say itz so amazing to see moments from it from back den!!! i love this clip nd the music is just gorgeous <3

  • Yes, Y&R was far different back then ,then it is now. It doesn't even seem like the same show in a way.

  • @coolwafferman .......it use to take several months for a story line to as we say..come to a head and y&r was notorious for taking its sweet time in bringing things to a climax. but now theres stuff coming up in a whim and rapped up in 2 weeks......i cant believe some things that start and are over in no time.

  • @coolwafferman that's quite a video. what a heartbreaking theme song. Those were 10 classic years I wish I could somehow find. Too mad it's mostly smut now.

  • Beautiful music

  • This is beautiful ! Excellent ! I was addicted to this show, the first eight years. Then I graduated from college and had to get a JOB. I did not have a VCR then. I miss Brenda Dickson. They now have a young actress on Y&R that looks like her. I also miss the villain George Rawlings ! He was a riot ! He and Cassandra were the most miss matched couple in the shows history ! Hah-hah-hah-hah-hah !

  • the worst Jill was Deborah Adair. I couldn't stand she was playing the role

  • @nightowlchad yes Debbie was no good at Jill.

  • Always loved Lori and her last story was a doosey. Vanessa "befriended" Lori to set her up for her murder. The scene where Vanessa jumped off of Lori's balcony to make it appear that Lori had pushed her was mind blowing. Because of their long history, even Lori's own family didn't know what to believe. There was a scene I would pay to see where after a long trial and Lori is finally free, she goes and visits Vanessa's grave. I missed it, but would love to see what she said to "Vanessa".

  • It's funny when a show runs a long time that it becomes several shows. It was about this time that Y&R completely left the Brooks family and became an entirely different show -- but this was the first and the heart of Y&R...See next comment for last great story during this era..

  • nice!

  • Thanks for the memories..it really was a good show. I will never forget the love scene between Snapper and Chris in the snow....I wonder if someone has that?

  • I was a stupid fool for not buying "The Young And The Restless" SOUNDTRACK that was in all of the record stores in the mid and late 1970's. The music was great !

  • About the Y&R soundtrack, I recently purchased a copy at amazon. You may try that if you want it. It's well worth it.

  • That was extremely cool

  • Wow...I just can't say enough about this video & the music....hearing this not only takes me back to the 70s, it also reminds me how GREAT this show was...I know it was all young & new but when I watch today, it's unrecognizable to me. This background tune could totally suck you into a scene & bring you to tears. Y & R does NOT have that anymore. Music & acting just is inferior. Brenda Dickson & Jaime Lyn Bauer...nobody today holds a candle to you two. Wish you were back and all the others.

  • @lmvillanova I've dreamed of Jamie Lynn coming back. Brooks, her "shared son with LEslie" could come back as a romantic, late 20's/30's lead. I bet Janice Lynde would appear--imagine the original Lauri and Leslie on!

  • Wow that was good.

  • This is a terrific video. It brought back so many happy memories for me. Y&R is one of the first shows I remember watching, and so many of the characters you featured were a part of that. Not to mention the music!

    Great job!

  • I love this video. Very well done. I didn't know till this second that there was an original release of music in 74. I have something to hunt down now!!! THIS is what music for soaps should be like. The current glitz and flash sans substance is so sad. Here's hoping the daughter in law can save the show--but we need Bill Bell

  • Thanks..GREAT VIDEO tribute..truly Y & R at it's best...but some cast you forgot...William Gray Espy, Jim Houhgton, Pamela Peters Solow, Lynn Topping, Deborah Adair, Ellen Weston (unforgetable Suzanne), Wings Hauser, Brian Kerwin (other Gregs), Margaret Mason, Qunn Redeker, John Gibson...etc. All these would be great to see set to that BEAUTIFUL theme music...WOW...wish I could do that. Y & R sure ain't like this anymore. Miss all these cast members sooo much. Golden beautiful time period.

  • You're right about Suzanne. One of my favorite storylines where she gaslighted Katherine. Wonderful time!!

  • 2)...Later they found Leslie and when Brad realised Lori's deception dumped Lori and helped the lovely Leslie regain her confidence.Handsome Brad married Leslie whilst

nasty Lori published a dirty novel 'My Sisters Shadow' based on Leslie...

I reacon the show was it's best back then when the Brooks were in it.

    Thanx for this tribute,good job

  • 1)Omg,1.42-1.48 I'll never forget the Brad,Leslie,Lori storyline.

Nasty Lori was jealous of her older sisters success as a concert pianist & manipulated a situation that caused Leslie to breakdown during her concert performance.Leslie ran off stage into a stormy night in a lost state and went missing whilst Lori lured Brad away from Leslie...

  • I sure could use some of these for my tribute!! I began watching in 1980 non stop!!!!

  • I was a fan of the show for the first ten

years, and it was so enjoyable, when it was

about the Brookes and the Foster families.

Although getting Jeanne Cooper on the roster

was a brilliant move. But the Brookes sisters

    are MISSED! AND...Brenda Dickson...wish the

show would have her come back, even if its

in another role, but similar to Jill.

  • I love all the videos from way back when the show first started.I wish I could get a video for all of them

    Hoffman 8101

  • that was wonderful!!!

  • Thanks for the great video & sharing this music - brings back a lot of memories on what a great show this once was - wish we could get early shows on video!

  • victorfan.... this song is avialbale on the original Y&R soundtrack album released in 1974. On vinyl record only.

  • In 1998 when Y&R celebrated it's 25th anniversary they released a CD with various compostions of background music. I'm surprised they didn't include this on the CD back then. But thanks to coolwafferman I can listen to it here.

  • Where is this music from? it's very nice

  • This song is called "Blue Image" and it was used a lot on the show back in the 70's and into the 80's.

  • Oh ok cool!

  • Very good!

  • May I say to you that you really know how to create soap openings! The Best There Is & Ever Was & Will Be!
