I love your delivery. I could listen to you for hours on end but my kids are picketing my computer with signs that say"mommy do you still love us? Will you ever cook dinner again? We should never taught you how to work our computer!" Love You! M.O.M.
I absolutely love seeing the recitation of your poetry before a live audience David =) I so rarely get to see poetry performed with an audience and it lights the poems with a spark every time. Thank you also for the shoutout to Elvira and I =) And also to that ElviraDarkPoe character, hehe!
Loved the Dante poem, especially the parts about her having mercy on people who used up all their second chances. Somehow it just struck me that David Lerner might have liked that line a lot.
I have never been able to separate my self from the overwhelming sense of submission to love's power. Is it being in love with the idea of love? I truly enjoy narrative poetry. I appreciate a kind of story poem. I like to understand what the writer is saying right off. You fit the bill, sir. I hearing you and making your acquaintance has been my pleasure. 5*
janeczka: a first time for everything... heh heh... Guadalajara and The First Kiss is Free I haven't made into videos... I wanted to see how people would react to them live... and well, no one threw stuff at me... (then again, YOU weren't there :P) - hee hee..
Thanks for sending me this. You really know how to set a mood, it was great. It's so much harder to be a good performer than to write I think... and you've got both skill sets.
MsWrite: Hopefully Dana will tape it next month and post it too... because I will read "Ordinary"-- (If you send me five bucks I won't tell the audience yer a brat :p )
Good stuff to watch now that my local spoken word spot of choice is not running during the school holidays. I wonder what they would do with you if you spoke here...... they'd prolly make u a featured reader, just not sure if they would give you an hour or just a half an hour.....
meh, not like you're going to go on tour anytime soon eh? :P
Enjoyed that very much. I appreciate how poetry can really get to the meat of the matter, moreso than song lyrics that have to share the stage with music. I especially liked the one about obsession since I recently wrote a song about that subject.
That looks like a cool reading; having attended so many I really admire a good performer, it requires such a different set of skills to writing and many poets simply dont have the ability. And your poems are great too, each one is surprising.
Sounded good, looked like it went well. It's a knack, to deliver poetry in a way that makes it accessible; you've got it. Thanks for sending out this video.
Elly: You are soooooo drunk! :p --- you know who I'd like to see a video of reading live -- you and ninapoetry --- I'd love to see how you guys would translate your work to a crowd...
Largo: you should have seen the guy that went on after me--one of those so-excited-about-it-he's-scary Christians going on and on about the Bible... I mean, he freaked everybody out--and this is a really conservative place I'm reading this one at... they had to finally tell him to stop...
ElviradarkPoe!!!?? David!! if i didnt like you you'd be in BIG trouble!! ^_^...but of course after listening to this, i forgive you!! excellent job my friend!!
elvira: Ha ha... I'm always so freaked I'm going to forget my poems that I trip over everything else I say... maybe the 3 of us should start one channel with the username:
Oh don't start talking about christmas. *drinks more cheap wine* christmas can go to hell!!! *falls on the ground blubbering and muttering obscenities as I slowly fall to slumber*

I am overjoyed that poetry is not dead, and you and those like you are part of the reason why.
I was absorbed into your words.
