  • Did your cab have a tweeter?

  • @DaveVisions Yeah it was the older RL410T, it also had the adjustable pad in the back. I can't remember what it was sett too.

  • for you what is the best mesa boogie amp to play metal and children of bodom?

  • @COBbassmaster I would say this one's got the growl for bodom

  • Holy shit i would be trashing the fuck out of this amp if i had it !!

  • @666jony666 Yeah it was a sick amp when i owned it, I miss my bass days.

I can't believe that's me. wow this seems so long ago!

  • Ive played a music man stingray 5 string and it was pretty nice...not $1700 nice but nice...yes theyre overpriced... and i still preffer my ibanez soundgear 6 stringand it was only $350 for me. Nice low action, amazing for sweeping and songs like "burning the masses"

  • @mickthomsonify I forgot about my obsession with the stingray. man that was a nice bass. I don't play much bass at all nowadays. Good luck with the Ibby and 6 strings, that's one too many on a bass for me!

  • hey can you do a demo video of the amps playing clean and plucking instead of picking? i realy wanted to hear a clean tone on the mesa also something funk related?

  • @BlackflamezzProduct no can do for 2 reasons, I no longer own the amp, and if you couldn't tell by watching the video, I'm a metal/rock guy, good luck getting funk out of me

  • @wyldweasil aww ok :(

  • Southbound Pachyderm was my favorite. Cheers.

  • Really diggin' that riff from like 2:00 to 2:30, dude. I've always really liked the Mesa bass gear. It's very versatile stuff.

  • @ESPKannon I threw in some Lost Prophets at the tail end of that.

  • I guess sansamp rbi would go better than mesa

  • @matt82pulses I never had the chance to do any serious recording with the head when I had it, just sold it for some school money, maybe that sansamp would've been a better choice

  • Sounds like meshuggah around 6:25-6:50 lol.

  • I hate how these videos tend to sound. Not his fault, just sounds like he put a mic up to the bass and is playing with no amp. Really wanted to hear how this sounds.

  • @ooSilverSurferoo sorry dude. I hadn't gotten a chance to record proper clips of this yet audio wise

  • Was not expecting the distortion to be that fat. Good sh+t.

  • SOOOOOUUUUUUL BUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRN

Lol, good song. Useful video man, cheers.

  • 6:25 reminds me of Meshuggah in alot of ways.

  • yeah that's what I was going for

  • How Much is that

  • the amp was about 1400

  • how would this sound for jazz bass

  • That I don't know, I'd be interested to find out myself. If I do buy another bass though, I'm going for a Music Man Stingray 5

  • Dont get me wrong. Music Man Makes some great guitars, but dont you think they are a little overpriced for a bolt on neck?

  • Not for the awesome electronics

  • I see where you're going with this, gonna have to put this back on course. Not everything with a bolt on neck sucks. Most people tend to have the opinion that it sucks due to most lower end and/or beginner guitars being bolt ons, but not everything is bad. The Music Man played amazing and felt very nice, and the neck joint might might have been a plus because of that.

  • You're right, some basses just sound better when they're Bolt-On in stead off Neck-Thru.

  • Comment removed

  • Are you serious? Tons of high-end basses are bolt on.

  • @charlesmanson1987 Agreed! I own a Tobias 5 string but would love to have a American Fender Jazz and an Ernie Ball as well.

  • Neck-through isn't necessarily better than bolt-on. Both can do different things to the sound of your instrument, and aside from that, the bolt-on neck of a MusicMan is really really tight and secure. Construction quality is top notch.

  • @DevilsFourString So is that of a shecter...my damien 4 is in drop c with 130 and I've even had it in eb, before. I tuned it tight and readjusted the action so that way my bass would be mainly setup for heavier strings. It took a lil bit of a neck adjustment, but not too much. There are more bolts than on Music Men, and in my experience they are alot tougher. Although music men do have really nice p/us. But emg has a replacement that sounds just as good ;)

  • they're ugly too. sound damn good though, cant beat a warwick though

  • what is you band called?

  • haha i gotta ec1000 too :D (the see-thru cherry, i lovee it)

i am really going to buy that mode four as soon as i got some money.. is it possible to use it also for some early rock like led zeppelin? cuz i want an amp i can play almost everything with it..

  • It's really hard to say any amp is versatile. You might be able to set one side as your "heavy" and the other side as your "clean".

Oh and sorry I removed the videos. I figured it was time to remove the ones that i no longer own the gear in. That and I was tired of responding to the complaints

  • if u want something u can play everything with i would recommend the svt-6 pro, not just bcuz i have it but the the semi-parametric eq lets u dial in any tone u want

  • lol but that is obviously a bass amp!!! and im a guitar player!!! and that doesnt go with each other... xD

i referred to one of his previous vids, where hes demoing the marshall mode four amplifier... sorry for the mess :s

if i should play bass one day, i think ill be buying the tech 21 sansamp VT bass preamp i can directly plug into a mixer. seems to be pretty versatile..

btw: this is my new account, former known as kkeeiiAAnniigg ;)

  • i played the four string version of that bass plugged into a mesa boogie but idk which one. amazing sound

  • Sweet man

  • is better the stiletto or hellraiser5

  • Honestly, I didn't really play the hellraiser bass through this too much. I thought it sounded good, not as good as the stiletto though, certainly not as good as the fender

  • what amp heads other than mesa's work well with mesa cabs?

  • can't really help you there, I couldn't afford the mesa cab, wasn't in the budget. However, it's more of something you should try yourself.

  • does this thing have brutal distorion when cranked? Here's and example of that: The Clincher by Chevelle. Thanks for demoing this vid, been waiting for something like this

  • absolutley on the chevelle. And probably just from the clean channel alone.

I have the Gain at about 2 o'clock, so you could throw more on if you wanted.

  • wow, when he played it live you could hear the brutality of it with a stingray- listen to send the pain below or comfortable liar live at KROQ and you'll hear it shake the walls of the arena

  • I was looking for a demo of this amp (and the Big Block V12) and I think this just made my decision for me. Also, it was a great stroke of luck that you did the demo with the same model of Stiletto I'd be using most.

Also, heard some Primus in there. :P

    Thanks!

  • No Prob, that's why I made the video. Probably not the greatest sound quality thru the cam, but it's better than nothing.

  • Do you think you could possibly make a short clip using fingerstyle or slap, perhaps something with only a moderate amount of grit, Primus-like tones? I'm curious about the versatility of the overdrive. Additionally, I read on some forum that you couldn't dial in a good slap tone on a 750 or V12.

  • I'm really not that great at slapping so I probably wouldn't be the best reference for it. I've been trying, but I need to practice way more at it.

  • That's fine. In that case, do you think that it'd be capable of sculpting a good slap sound?

  • it's pretty easy to dial in anything, the controls aren't as ultra touchy as everyone describes Mesa's, I haven't had a problem, and the simplified controls are a lot better than my old Carvin R1000 head.

  • Great example of the Mesa (It's not really *my* sound, buy always good to expose yourself to different things) but I have to say - the American Deluxe P-bass *SHINES* through your amp setup and IMO blows the Schecter out of the water. I great combination of P-bass fullness and the punchiness of a Jazz bass due to the rear Dual-Coil pickup.

....and don't sell yourself short - that 's some really nice pickstyle work. I bet you lock in like hell with your drummer. And nice TON-riffage in there!

  • Thanx, yeah i like the P-bass through it better, just wasn't too crazy about gigging it. I've played with my Eq's on both basses a bit since the video, pumped some highs out of the fender, boosted the mids, and on the schecter I I boosted the highs to give it a little more of a softer sound.

I used to lock in with my drummer before he quit to "be friends" and then he went and joined another band a few days later. Funny how that worked out.

  • meshuggah at 6:30?

  • Yeah, I fucked it up though. Been practicing it a lot lately though. A lot of this vid was just me free jamming.
