  • IF I HAD A DOLLAR FOR EVERY TIME ONE OF MY SONGS WAS DOWNLOADED I COULD-ACTUALLY MAKE A LIVING AS A PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN. ARTISTS ARE BROKE! THEY HAVE STOPPED TRYING!

  • i dont like u

  • I'm surprised this version of filesharing is bad, but file sharing on something like halo is alright

  • Thumbs up if you believe that if you purchase a file that file becomes you're property and you should have the right to do whatever you want with it

  • we dont give a fuck about america imperialists, nato, eu and other shits.

  • so basically, if we don't download the rich just keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer

  • Fuck the RIAA!

  • That's bull shit

  • fuck these dumb bitches its my god damnnnn fucking freedom for fuck sake what next my godness

  • If you are sharing copyrighted songs without permission, of course it is illegal. The RIAA has the right to stop pirates.

  • @vevoumgwmg whoa whoa whoa, since when are you supporting the RIAA, I thought you were a vevo/WMG guy

  • @roboguy75 Well I did briefly mention it in my profile, maybe you did not notice... And are VEVO and WMG not working together with RIAA?

  • @vevoumgwmg Filesharing might technically be illegal but the punishment doesn't fit the crime. I mean, the songs are usually valued at somewhere around $1. It's like killing someone for stealing something from you valued at $1. The RIAA (along with everyone else) knows that their attempts to stop what they consider piracy are pathetic and miss guided, so their only hope is to do terrible things to the few people they do catch and use them as examples.

  • @pb19111 Yes but if someone upload it and gets millions of downloads that would be $1*1 000 000 for every person. The lawsuit would make sense there.

The case here was that the violator was sharing it, not downloading it.

  • @vevoumgwmg But can they prove that that specific upload was downloaded millions of times? Even if they could, the uploader's only crime was uploading the content. Give him a weekend of community service. The ones who downloaded it are responsible for the so called theft. Even then if they only downloaded a $1 song, their punishment should reflect that. If you stole a $1 as a 1st offense you probably wouldn't even get jail time.

  • @pb19111 It does not matter how much you steal, you are committing a crime, and that means fines and jailtime. The same goes with filesharing. If you upload something that is not yours, you are subjected to prosecution by law. And it was not just one song, it was multiple.

  • @vevoumgwmg You do officially buy the song and by what the moral ethic says... you can SHARE the file with you friend... right? so what if the sharing took place via internet

  • The music, movie and software industry has brought all this shit on them selves. Before files haring and disk copying, music, movies, games and software cost a FORTUNE. Now they bitch and moan because they are the ones getting screwed when they've been screwing the public for DECADES! You fucking vultures deserve it!!!!

  • The music, movie and software industry has brought all this shit on them selves. Before files haring and disk copying, music, movies, games and software cost a FORTUNE. Now they bitch and moan because they are the ones getting screwed whe they've been screwing the public for DECADES! You fucking vultures deserve it!!!!

  • The RIAA and FBI ignored the following while thousands were being sued for music piracy. A NC police officer was RECORDED. He named the name Kazaa discussing how the songs are arranged in groups and you just click and get them He said its the thing to do everybody is doing it He bet his daughters had downloaded a thousand songs on his computer He had to buy a new computer his old one FILLED UP WITH MEMORY He laughed and said he hoped the federal government did not come and investigate him

  • If YouTube can be around, then file sharing is definitely going to exist.

  • they charge over a dollar for a song! and you call us pirates..

  • Come to Canada, you can download all you want for free, thats right free!!!! Ha Ha

  • @BigJoeHuron Wrong. Since the songs come from USA, they can still extradite you. THERE IS NO SAFE HARBOR.

  • A world without free music is a world in prison.

  • @CU2UK a lot of music is free. But all music shouldn't be free. If you worked your ass off writing an album, you wouldn't be happy if everyone stole it/stole songs from it.

  • What about freedom of information laws? Could there possibly be a way to argue that all media is a form of information therefor legally entitling us all access to said information (media). For example, by putting a price on media, you are taking away the right of those who have literally no money at all to EXPERIENCE that one single unique piece of available life. Do we not all have to right to experience anything we want to as human being blessed with free will? Try to Black and White that one!

  • Nice video, thanks

  • Saying file-sharing is illegal, is like saying it's illegal to borrow books from the local library. Is that illegal? NO!!

  • @Awesomedude5721 But when you borrow from the library, you have to give it back

  • in germany : UPLOAD is illegal , download is not traced.

So just change bittorrent to bitthief , => 0 upload , no worries

  • wow. this is total bullshit. copyright laws will always be broken as long as the law allow those who create the filesharing technology to do so. don't blame the downloader, blame the ones responsible for making all the file sharing programs. legal use of file sharing programs will always be outweighed by those using them illegally. so who truly is at fault? this woman is a victim of the illegal creation of technology that sets ppl up for a fall. it's entrapment in fact. let this innocent girl go

  • @WCherokeeW so knives should be illegal because murderers use them to kill?

  • i think that in 20-30 years or maybe even less, the cd is gone...maybe spotify will be the only program in the world to be able to play music,so that you HAVE to pay,and you can't share it...that way the artist kep getting money and we keep getting music!PERFECT!

  • If you ask me, I think file-sharing just marks the end of the CD. You don't see the ice-man from the thirties suing the refrigerator, because people no longer needed ice.

  • Neither individuals nor corporations have any right to come into court and ask that the clock of history be stopped, or turned back.”

-Robert Heinlein: "Lifeline" written in 1939

  • “There has grown up in the minds of certain groups in this country the notion that because a man or corporation has made a profit out of the public for a number of years, the government and the courts are charged with the duty of guaranteeing such profit in the future, even in the face of changing circumstances and contrary to public interest. This strange doctrine is not supported by statute or common law.

  • The qu is, "why should musicians continue being rich"? The future should be that a musician is just a regular income earner and no longer a super rich / drug addicted / elite fuckn person amongst everyone else! I cannot believe that "file sharing" which should be a basic right is controlled by a greedy few! un-fuckn-believable! I refuse to buy music! I'll still pay to go to the movies or pay for a concert but i will never buy music!

  • blubster.com thats our only hope. the only problem is the ads that pop up. but, i guess its worth it

  • Fuck the courts!!! We the people of filesharing are a community, they can't stop us nor will we be intimidated by the demonic black robed judges. Mazel tav!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • limewire is under some shit idk but i have 0 files and it wont let me download any more songs why reply plz anypne with an answer

  • FAIR/UNFAIR While thousands of people were being sued the FBI & RIAA ignored this recorded conversation A NC high ranking police officer was recorded discussing downloading music He named the name Kazaa and talked about how songs were arranged in groups you choose & click & get them He said it was the thing to do everybody was doing it He bet his daughters had downloaded a thousand songs on his computer He laughed & said he hoped the federal government did not come in and investigate him

  • Yeah I didnt know it was bad but today I had a notice on limewire that said *ILLEGAL NOTICE* and after that to sum it up it said im under court super vision and am advised to stop what im doing because it is illegal... I didnt think it was wrong and im stupid for not thinking about that at all.. and i havent downloaded alot of songs at all.. well now im scared and I deleted everything including limewire... my music didnt even leave the computer... I wonder if that notice was for im getting in

  • @Richardxx901 Limewire is down. i'm officialy flying over to the US on saturday to murder the people responsible for the law sue.

  • @orbion2 plz do that im an american and im pissed about this come pick me up i got a glock

  • @orbion2 I personally wanna defecate on their faces and decapitate the music industry whore's who got this war started in the courts.

  • wow the goverment is so currupt, it is sharing, we can get music off freaking youtube

  • @nasum69 the songs you have on your channel are condidered illegal when you don't get Copyright permission.

So please don't go barking on about shit thats bad when actually you do it.

  • @nasum69 its more like you have net zero....

    and you can't port foraward.

There are different forms of File sharing.

    Direct Downlaods and P2P

P2P when people upload using their internet conneciton and you download.

Direct downloads are when you download off like megaupload or w/e site for that matter and the bandwidth being used is hosted by a company.

  • Do we cost them money when we download songs online?!

    Hell no...

Its digital were not even costing them bandwidth.

    WDF is there problem?!

If we want to share we can share...They don't need more money.

  • @TheCompGame It DOES cost them money, since you're supposed to BUY the song on a cd. Since you got it for free, it's the same as if you grabbed it off a display and ran out of the mall. DON'T DO IT.

  • @corjonbett How does it cost them money? It doesn't even cost them bandwidth, its just like not making a sale. In fact if there was no file sharing there would be no way that i would buy all the music that i have if any at all.

  • @corjonbett Do you know why its called File sharing and not stealing? Because its a file -.- your example makes no sense, and people in 3rd world countries wouldn't pay for it, and not everyone has money to throw, some people actually have to work just to have enough money for there house, car, and other essential things.

  • @corjonbett Hey there! i completely disagree to you point here, As to what the woman fought for and unfortunately lost, i think it just the case of file share. Are you not breaking the law by sharing the music you bought on a cd and then give it to you friend to listen to.. the case here comes to, you giving the cd via internet for him to listen to.. waiting for reply.. :)

  • why do these people talk so weird? are they from canada or something? lol

  • IF FILE SHARING IS ILLEGAL THEN THE GOVEMENT ARE BREAKING THERE OWN LAWS LOL

  • Blame the politicans for allowing three free-markets to do anything as they please. All Viacom has to do is give them a couple of thousands or even more to pass these bills.

  • A NC police officer was recorded telling a woman this was the thing to do everybody was doing it.He bet his daughters had downloaded a thousand songs on his computer. He laughed and said he hoped the federal government did not come in and investigate him. He named the name Kazaa. When questioned about this unfairness the FBI and RIAA did not respond to this. If a police officer is let off after saying this in his own words then it's wrong others were sued. Give the people their money back

  • if the artist is a mainstream pop-seller(crap) i would download. If it's metal, classical or any type of actual art i will buy the album...

Hmm guess i never steal in that case :)

  • Like what the fuck, IT IS technically sharing because someone HAD to buy the song originally for it to be up on the internet.....its just like burning a CD except its much faster and convenient

  • its illegal to upload...not download.

  • ok.theres sickos walking the streets and the courts are charging her 2000 a song???Paedos, murderers, petty crimes, prostitutes etc.settle those first then try and stop people sharing.film industries are suffering yes but by how much???oh u know maybe a few million a year...

  • Why don't they charge you for the cost of the song or movie?

  • 2000 a song fuck u i tunes

  • thats retarded

  • yea fuck US.

  • And I guess the more records you sell, the more money you get from that tax. (blank cd tax) Because you´re considered to be a bigger artist. And if you have a young audience that basically downloads everything, you don´t get any money from that tax either. Is that how it works? :)

  • I hate downloading music the quality sucks!!!!! itunes is the best, the music is at a lossless but with the size file of an mp3. Original CD's sound the best

  • everyone in this video is a tool

  • Of course its stealing.....just dont get caught

  • @Mikedontgiveafuck

Stealing imply's taking something and that one item is now yours and no one else can have it.

Pirating makes a copy of that item. It's still there, there is just more of it.

  • It should only be illegal if you try to sell pirated material. Other than that this is a load of shit.

  • I used to be in a band, and we sold CD's for 1 dollar, only because that was around what the CD cost us. We knew to get people to go to our shows, we needed to spread our music so people would come out to shows. If i dont know what is on a CD, then i'm not going to spend 30-40 dollars on a ticket to see a band/artist perform because i wont be able to afford it after i dropping 10-13 dollars on an album.

  • A lot of what he says is true. I do this out of convenience more than to save money.

  • oww yh i forgot if every one all started downloading music they would nothing they could do as they would be a small minortity off people just think if every one did it they couldnt put every one in jail they would have to make it ok to do and if tthey tried to do put every one in jail there would be some massive riot :) and the world would probally end :(

  • copyright= copying and selling for profit

file sharing= copying and giving out for FREE

pirating= stealing shit on the seas bitch

  • lol :) i swear you can download as long as your not making profit ??? and one wana correct me ??

  • Movies \ Cheap legal website for movies that cost less than 10$ a month that plays all movies currently in theater's...

Music \ Make rhapsody and itunes cheaper!

  • To put it simply:

    Downloading is legal

    Uploading is illegal

  • @devin350z,

SO , as long as someone doesnt upload files, but downloads music et.c . its not illegal?

(not saying i do btw haha )

  • @devin350z

    file sharing is legal

    Illegal file sharing is illegal

  • i love to downlaod illegal music

  • Just wait til they chip us all with RFID and the Thought Police round up anyone who violates Intellectual Property rights, and throw them in Concentration FEMA camps where they will never be heard from again!

  • You see thats what the company's tell you to not download their products.. The truth is that about 80% are virus free torrents.. and if you know what you download you wont even find any viruses.. like i haven't seen 1 single virus in a torrent file that i've downloaded this year and if you're so "virus phobic" just scan the torrent that you downloaded... basically in most cases its more risky Googling for porn :P

  • The war on filesharing is like the war on drugs: fucked. And like everything else here (America) taken to the Nth beyond reason degree.

In fairness the majority of fans really are little bitches. If you're gonna rip something at least man up enough to admit it. Instead these little self-entitled bitches use every bogus justification that comes to mind vs facing honesty of it.

  • the greed of the recording industry is jealous that file sharing is putting more money into the artist's pockets by increasing their live attendance. it's fuckin bullshit

  • You're right, they should be forced to record all songs for free! Then, when they go bankrupt, the independent labels will take over. Well, then, of course, the "independent" labels will become the greedy big corporations, and they'll have to be taken down. And then again to whoever comes next. And then the government service we'll use in their place will become the "big brother" of music. Hey, let's just agree not to think about this too hard so we can stay cool.

  • no they are not, full of viruses,

  • Not if you know where to get 'em.

  • private sites or risk bankruptcy

  • FUCK the RIAA!!!!!

They call us pirates and yet sue for as much as $80,000 a song!!!

  • Yeah, no kidding. What ever happened to an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth? "Oh you stole a song? You now owe us your soul."

  • This shit is un-fucking-believable. How do they expect someone to pay a $200,000 fine for downloading a few songs. They are just songs give me a fucking break. There are rapists and pedophiles who get off easier than that! RIAA can suck a fart outta my ass.

  • @djmurphy09 EEEWWW NASTY , WELL SAID THOUGH

  • @djmurphy09 Remember that people have to get paid like that artist, they have to pay bills, they got a family, this is the reason why they are making people pay so much money, they are not joking around. What if u make something which took hours to make but wait this 8 million people decide not 2 pay that is 8 million gone. that is the reason why they make people so much!!!!!!!

  • @djmurphy09 thats just to scare other people to stop downloading

  • "A US court rules that it is"

No, this does not rule file-sharing as a whole illegal, just what this individual did as illegal.

Surely intellectual honesty and factual accuracy means something, no?

  • how baut move somwhere with no extradiction start a company in sweenden or china and strat fucking uploading evrything and see how those fucks like it

  • well ISPs are now the law enforcement of RIAA i believe or some kind of shit so if u ever get a notice from ur ISP saying they have detected unauthroized fiel sharing...DONT SHARE UR FILES, JUST DOWNLOAD...

  • Basically you'll make movies of yourself and put it on dvd. Cds use your own music.

  • This is bullshi* If that is the case why do they offer the option on Windows media player to rip it to mp3, and then why do they sell Blank DVD's and Cd's so you can burn Movies and Cd's what do they thinkpeople are going to do.

  • is it fuck illegal who's ever been caught!

  • i don't remember who i replied to but they said that it should be illegal to take a song that you paid for and copy it multiple times. I said then microsoft should be the ones sued for making the copy option.

  • There ARE very useful alternatives to file sharing programs that let you get music for free without using a file sharing program.

  • I don't think it should be illegal. You can rip a cd then give it to your friends to rip but they won't sue you over that. The friends can then give the file to their friends via aim and that could just keep happening and that is called sharing. This is essentially the same thing made easier.

  • I've bought DVDs and CD sountracks at Wal Mart and Target, after paying to see a movie in the theater. I don't own the rights to distribution, but I see YouTube videos with nice sountracks.

  • DarthMalice227 : You can't just shut down a site. If the goverment decides to shut a kaaza-esque site down which provides a legal software that enables filesharing, it would be like shutting down a firearms shop just because you "could" rob a bank with a gun. Also if they shut it down nothing can prevent a owner of a site to move it to say; Sweden, where the site would go on to become one of the top sites of the internet aswell as getting free publicity. There is no universal copyright law

  • studies show that most people that 'steal' music are trying it out before they buy it and purchase more music than ANYONE ELSE.

same goes for people that 'steal' movies.

if the industries would embrace today's technology they wouldnt be taking a back seat to torrents.

  • not all songs and videos are available on the net.

i rather buy a cd and dvd for sure.

talk about greedy uneducated devil companies who wants money so bad, i could slam them on the mouth of a shark!

  • if music wasn't so fucking expensive

the music companies are greedy and dont give a fuck about you

music used to be made for music and not for money

  • Under federal law, you can be charged up to 150,000 dollars per song in a court of law. My thoughts on this? The Government should get fucked. They say this war on file sharing is to protect the artists, but the only media being protected is owned by the mega record companies, in which the artists have already been paid their share, or are ridiculously wealthy. Fuck them all, viva la resistance!

  • I got a question. Why does the government not just shut down the sites that are allowing people to share the illegal stuff? I mean, damn, EVERYONE can go to Kazaa or Limewire, and download anything the can think of. Why punish the people for taking what is so easily available? Thats like busting someone for accepting free drugs, while the guy offering it stands there and smiles. Ughh, this shit is stupid. If they dont want their shit downloaded, shut down the sites!

  • the programs themselves are completely legal

    the use ofthem isnt

  • the music industry doesnt give a fuck about you or me. If they wanna target one person to make an example out of them then fuck the music industry. Im gonna continue to download whatever i want and share it with whoever i want

  • PG rulz

  • this topic will never end..

  • If you are good at something, you don't do it for free

  • .... unless greed isn't an issue. i know of many professionals that work pro-bono and make the world a better place b/c of it.

  • If greed isn't an issue... then why do people reproduce copyrighted materials without consent and without compensating monetarily? from the good of their hearts?

  • Comment removed

  • OK so you go from point A to point Z, you forgot some steps buddy. I am not following when you explain the "buttfucked by Bill O'Reilly" comment , then a short rant about conservatives, and conclude with "no matter what I will own you." you don't explain anything, all you have done is displayed your disdain for conservatives, which I am not. I have no political affiliation. You will own no one, because I am not going to argue with a windbag who just wants to go off on politcal party tangent.

  • so your own political tangent i must repeat again of "go to russia commie" is gone and forgotten. i'm the politlcal predator not you. you're just sticking up for the man. or capitalism. or a point a suit would make for the riaa for $2000/hr. go fuck yourself.

  • "go to russia you commie" was where your argument began, so how is that a tangent?

yeah, I'm sticking up for capitalism, go to russia you commie.

  • Comment removed

  • hey the best thing's in life or free

  • Hmmm...

You know libel is illegal, right?

  • "A US court rules that it is, "

    Nope.

They never made the technology illegal, they upheld the illegal uses being illegal.

Very big difference, one which not making is intellectual dishonest.

  • I think that it should be $50 per song so you have a chance at paying it off. 9k is way too much.

  • Comment removed

  • nobody likes faceless corporations and slimy "artists" that just want all of our money so they can buy giant villas and large cars. if we want to share, we'll share.

in america, fortune favors the rich, and we dont like that, not at all.

  • the only reason why piracy is illegal is because rich people loose money over it, if rich people can't make money off you then its illegal, thats capitalism, i say fuck rich people, its time that we start sharing and helping each other live equal and good lives, rich people know that thanks to piracy they will be less able to hold everyone else down, and they will no longer feel superior to us, this is why they are against piracy

  • BT 4ever

  • Piracy shouldn't be illegal....

Let's say I took a video game. Let's say a popular one, like COD4 for X360. Well, I can take that disc and prestige twice. Then I get bored. Instead of selling it, I give it to a friend. They play the game til they don't want it, and give it to another friend. They are just borrowing something that has been payed for at one point in time.

    Is that illegal? No.

  • Take music for instance. I get a song off of Rhapsody. I get the file, put it on my USB drive, go to all my friends houses and add the song to their MP3 player. Is that illegal? Still, no. It's borrowing. And it gets payed for at one point in time!

  • You may call it borrowing, but remember, you only pay for ONE copy of the game/song. Then lets say you want to share it with 5 friends. You create 5 copies of the game/song which you share with your friends. You then have 6 copies and only payed for 1. It's kind of like buying 1 car and just take (steal) 5 more, and your argument for doing so is "I bought one".

  • i see it like you bought an apple, you sowed the seeds from that apple to make more apples, and then the owner of the apple orchard is pissed off with you for giving away free apples.

  • Clever point, but still, how could this world function if everything ANYONE did was for free. Would you bother going to work if you didn't get paid?

  • that depends what kind of community i lived in. i'm sure i'd be happy in a community where everything was free. n_n

  • Hehe

It sounds perfect, but I bet that a community like that wouldn't function at all :P

  • ORITE u got a bet ;) I will establish myself as communist dictator and iradicate money, reintroducing tribal society... do you remember a time before money? Trust me, it once worked.

  • Of course money hasn't been around all the time, but when there wasn't money there was trades. Same concept! :P

  • Cars are very, very different from songs, and even games. Cars are a physical object, whereas music and games are just bits of data, no more real and tangible than ideas and dreams. FYI, you don't pay record companies and recording artists for the disc, you pay for the data on the disc. Now, why should someone pay for ideas multiple times, when one person could think it and share their thoughts with others.

  • FYI, ideas are in your head. music and games take hard work and money to create and manufacture. there are also laws which protect "intellectual property" which an idea is. Cars are made by machines at an assembly plant. music and games require an intelligent design. if people didn't get paid for their music and games that they make we wouldn't have any becuase they wouldn't release them to the public just to "share"

    go to Russia you commie.

  • I understand ideas are in your head, that's simple, even a child would know that. The fact of the matter is, people make games and music for free. Try googling "freeware" once in a while. Hell, even some artists have released their works for free. Go to a museum, you see paintings done by many great artists. You pay for admission, but is any of that money going to the family or the artist? No.

But I forgot, in America, people can think of things while they sit on their ass and get paid for it.

  • hell yeah, that's why there have been so many scientific breakthroughs the last couple hundered of years. People sitting on their asses and thinking stuff up.

  • That's how they start at least. Inventor of the Telephone Mr. Bell had to have on point thought: "I want to talk to someone who isn't here." and the idea inspired him and that's why you can talk on a fancy cell phone while you sip overpriced coffee on your way to the dead-end job.

And "FYI", I was using that to ridicule your last comment. Sarcasm must be a foreign language to you. I'll be sure to point out my sarcasm from now on.

  • how I am supposed to differentiate sarcasm and seriousness through electronic text, I am supposed to know exactly what you are thinking and exactly how you mean it?

  • and you should be buttfucked by bill oreilly.

  • that makes no sense. if this is directed at me then thanks for sharing that I'm part of your homo-erotic fantasies, but on a serious note, I don't watch mainstream news and FOXnews is my least favorite network. I dislike O-Reilly and the way he runs his show cutting off his guests and only presenting his side of the argument. If it seems like him and I agree on certain things then draw your own conclusions as you will, but you couldn't be any further from reality with that comment.

  • All I'm saying is, I feel that people being charges massive amounts of money because they downloaded something is ridiculous, and an expense to our government and our already ailing economy. People need to stop treating File Sharing as a crime comparable to some of the other offenses that occur in "Our great nation". Go after the real criminals and those who hurt people.

  • P2P file sharing is one of the reasons the economy is ailing. The US economy loses billions of dollars because of file sharing. It effects everyone.

  • Comment removed

  • then microsoft should be sued for making the copy option.

  • your right. the world is indeed strange.
