The old problem with slasher films is that they would have too many sequels. The new problem is that they have too many fucking remakes.
I understand that it can be hard to make a new movie seem interesting when its franchise has had so many crap sequels and spinoffs, but Hollywood has to come up with something more creative than just redoing the first film. It's not like the original Nightmare on Elm Street needs to be updated for a modern audience or anything.

that's the point, for one...its a total remake so they wanted to start fresh with a new Freddy and all. And well, Robert Englund didn't want to do it anyway...

The old problem with slasher films is that they would have too many sequels. The new problem is that they have too many fucking remakes.
I understand that it can be hard to make a new movie seem interesting when its franchise has had so many crap sequels and spinoffs, but Hollywood has to come up with something more creative than just redoing the first film. It's not like the original Nightmare on Elm Street needs to be updated for a modern audience or anything.

i think its time to see a new vision of freddy... definitely is a classic villian, but i was watching the older movies and the fx where sub par at best... this movie could turn out to be a good thing for freddy fans
i think the actor playing freddy can bring something great to the table thats the guy from watchmen he's scary looking without makeup haha

oh my god. why must michael bay destroy everything that i once loved? As a kid, freddy was the scariest fuckin thing i had ever seen (next to the classic Texas Chainsaw Massacre). It really doesnt need to be revisited with this bullshit newhollywood look. Cant we just let well enough alone?

I am a true freddy fan but robert englund is not the problem for me my problem is with all these fucking remakes changing up the fucking plot in the begining it looks like freddy was a good guy fuck that!! Then when it gets to the nightmare parts it looks like the exact same film as the first i mean u can stick with the plot but get some new nightmares in there but nooo they have to change the story around and keep the same kills?? How does that make scince????
