since when does art or writing songs have to be so literal..in fact the worst art is literal...its more about being a winner and a slacker at the same time.(which he is)and about sleeping on couches in order to "make it"(which he is) and about running in circles with dreams that never have commercial success.
This is a nice song but it does not describe the creative wunderkind that is Jeffrey Lewis, the busiest artist I know. In his 32 years he has already given the world so much by way of music and art, and is always in demand as a performer and drawer of comics. I think the hapless depressive in this song is its composer. I like the last line "How do you feel without a heaven or a hell?" Pretty damn good, I'll bet. i think a I love jeffrey song would be cheesey..the song is more about apathy and success than it is about jeffrey.
