actually this is an instrumental.. if you actually listen past the first 30 seconds you will notice that this is indeed an instrumetnal. Some instrumentals still have adlibs & in the case of this instrumetnal..Q-Tip's intro which is 8 bars.. & the adlibs are present..
there is no trick really.. I collect 12" vinyl singles of my favorite hip-hop artists & usually on these singles there is the instrumental version of the song. I know that some people claim that they can do "vocal extraction" with certain software.. but the only way to get a clean good quality instrumental is to buy the vinyl. Lyrics can't be completely removed with eq or even these "tricks" that are done with audio software.
everytime I have heard an instrumental that had "vocal extraction" done to it to "remove the vocals" ... the quality was horrible & the stereo signal was out of phase & the polarity was reversed. There are no such devices for removing vocals from a digital or analogue audio recording
So all you gotta do homie is go online & search for sites that sell vinyl. If you are interested in looking for vinyl online. There are other ways to find hip-hop vinyl too, go to your local record store, but the thing with record shops is that they may not have exactly what you are looking for, depending on thier inventory & selection. Here where I live there are a few good record shops
I have even found rare hip-hop vinyl @ yard sales & the good will.. but all in all, it's a task to find classic hip-hop vinyl, but I enjoy searching & diggin thru an old dusty crate of records in hopes that I will find a gem. I also have a few friends who have huge vinyl collections like I do & we swap records & go diggin at record shops
