  • Well, this is overrated! BLAH...

  • When the guy says "For the last time! DID YOU WRITE THIS??" It actually is the last time :(

  • It's like a fucking rock concert. I love it!

  • 3 people are totally f****d up.....

  • The way he says "fucked" is really hot...

  • more!!!

  • THEY DESERVE AN HOUR LONG OVATION. WHY DID THIS SHOW END?!?!?!

  • Love this song. I have it on my ipod, but it's nothing compared to the live version...

  • Hey where there teens there, like 15 or 14?

  • @firestar070 i'm 15 and i've loved this since i was 12, i went for the first time a couple days ago. don't go with your parents... mine sat on the other side of the auditorium hahahha

  • "Melchior Gabor for the last time, did you write this?"

    "YES!!"

    Best part! XD

  • I love how the lights and everything goes crazy during the blah blah blah blah blah part. This show has the best set!

  • i was there. <3

also, @TEXTUALactivity, YES. because it is the sexiest thing in the entire universe. ever.

  • So a little birdy pointed out to me that the person in the far left hand corner of the onstage seating who is acting as an ensemble member is none other than John Gallagher Jr.! That is so awesome.

  • I will never love a Melchy as much as I love Jonathan Groff. I will never love an SA cast as much as the OBC. They are LOVE.

  • When Jonathan screams "YES!!" im pretty sure I got the biggest grin and got the most chills ever.

  • I will never get tired of listening to this song. and watching SA. I love it so freaking much. I'm sure Lea miss this a lot.

  • i love this song soo much!!!

  • Haha the audience rocks

I love how they cheer everytime there's a bad word.

  • DANG!!!! If the crowd keeps screaming like this then they are going to turn the play into a Jonas Brothers concert. Those things are sooo loud.

  • i love jon gorff and lea michele so much!

  • this looks amazing!

    i wish i was there

  • The audience was annoying, yeah, but it's not the average audience. I think since it was Lea and Jon's last performance, the audience was more involved. Similar interactions have happened with shows such as RENT in the past. When it's such a monumental performance, the people in the audience recognize the importance of it.

Or ... I could be wrong.

I say, their last performance? Hell yeah I'm going to cheer. And I'm saying this from the point of view of someone who is in musicals; I'd enjoy it!

  • i'm a performer, and personally i love it when people scream and cheer while i'm performing. and if i had been there i would have completely freaked out the entire time too :)

  • this is illegal!!!! BUT I DONT CARE ITS AMAZING!! HAHA :P

  • great performance for their last night

  • Seriously, have they never heard people curse before? It's a Broadway play, not a concert. It was funny the first time, but then it just got annoying.

  • Man the crowd was annoying. I know it's a fun song and what not but still, it can throw the performers off when you scream like that

  • GOD, i wish id been there. i keep getting shivers when jgroff shouts "YES!" youre so freaking lucky to have been able to see jon & lea perform together, & on their last day, too. as for the audience, to be honest, i'd be shouting right along w/them @ that pt. just knowing that this was the last time jon would sing this song in this theater like that, i'm sure everyone was on an adrenaline rush. guys, this was a once in a lifetime experience, & the audience was simply enjoying every minute of it.

  • Seriously, why does the audience have to flip out EVERY time Johnathan says a curse!? (Which is A LOT considering the title of the song!) It's REALLY annoying!

  • Yeah that audience is redonculous. Are they serious? I'd actually like to listen to the song and not a bunch of retards who cheer hella loud at every cuss word. Really now? *facepalm* Oh well, I luff teh sawng tew muches. :D

  • This was an amazing show! Best stage and use of lighting ever!!!!!

  • That was electric. No other way to describe it. JG + LM forever <3

  • this was most definitely my favorite scene in the entire show

  • that was amazing

  • The bit where he shouts "YES!" and everyone cheers is simply amazing :D

  • Anyone else get a huge chill down their spine when Melchior throws his arms out and yells, "YES!"?

  • i did. freaky.

  • Yes. I remember my jaw dropping that night, watching this unfold. It was a memorable night.

  • is it just me, or is it a tad annoying that the audience totally freaks out every time JG says "fucked"?

  • It was because it was his final performance, and they knew that, so they were excited!

  • @TEXTUALactivity i actually quite enjoy when the crowd cheers.its like a jolt of energy. but i see what you mean!

  • @TEXTUALactivity - No. This brought young people to the theater. I saw it the first weeks after it opened and it was the theater was full of older peeps like me and STILL that place was on it's feet. I love that young peeps loved it!

  • @TEXTUALactivity No...I think it makes it a little more exciting if your there....kind of like being at a concert

  • @TEXTUALactivity probably because each single one wants to get f#$%ed by JG, just a thought

  • @TEXTUALactivity more like everytime they say one little curse ...

  • only $25, and they are an amazing experience

  • theres seats on stage.. o.o

I wonder how much those seats cost

  • Please post more of this show! It's amazing!

  • im tryin to convince the techer at the stage school i go to to do spring awakening

i only do acting and not musical theatre, and the teachers a bit afraid of the parents reaction to the language and stuff, but he has a guarantee its gonna sell out atleast

  • to smarties996, you can't do this show, not until the tour is over which isn't til the end of May. and then afterwards, you'll probably have to wait a while for the rights to be released. MTI (music theatre international) already owns the rights and you can request to be notified when it is available, but you will be waiting quite some time. and if students wanted to do this they would need parental consent depending on the part (you see melchior's ass during the sex scene) so it's very unlikely

  • that high schools will be allowed to do this, because at my school at least, the principles must also approve his, and there's no way our school would let us do this. especially since we do a special performance for senior citizens and they'd probably be very shocked if they see this.

  • my drama clubs viewed as a public forum so we can do whatever! haha its awesome. wicked bummer about ur princeiple tho.

  • Oh my god I think I might cry! This looks so amazing!!!! I'm dying to see it!

  • search "spring awakening full" the whole play has been posted.

  • amazing!!

  • goddamn that looked awesome.

  • The screaming & the cast dancing & jumping on stage toward the end of the video looks & sound like a rock concert. What a kick ass performance!

  • what is with Melchior climbing up to that ledge thing near the end of the video?

  • That is him being exiled/expelled.

  • That's him being taken away and FUCKED!!!!

  • he climbs up a ladder and onto a chair.

  • he's climbing up their because he stays their until he finds guys, at the reform school that he's sent to, with a letter from wendla about her pregnancy.

Then he comes down the ladder to kick their asses!

  • so amazing

  • fuck i wish i could have been there for this. i've seen the show twice and always been mad people dont get as excited as they were that night

  • never will i ever ever forget this night!!!!!!!!

  • dude. just seeing a youtube video of this

    gives me serious chills.

  • I've always wondered what the dancing was about. Could someone explain? It's very interesting....

  • you mean the very fast dancing...it's the choreography from their song "touch me" basically broken down into parts, given to each character, and then put on fast forward. touch me is the whole scene when melchior and moritz go over the "obscene document" that is in question so they use the "touch me" dance during this song to tie them together. That choreography is also used in "Mama who Bore Me"

  • Can anybody believe it... it's been a year. Wow.

  • :( aw

  • I saw this show and when BCJ gestured at Groff...every hair on my body stood up...incredible

  • the best performance until the last one!

  • Saw this show last night... by far the best show I have ever seen.

  • I WAS THERE FOR THIS! Just, ELECTRIFYING! Actually, I'm pretty sure the two heads in front of you during the last 10 seconds are mine and my friend's! Sorry for blocking the shot grantman!

  • DUDE!

I saw this last night at the Lyric in London...

    THIS SONG WAS THE BEST!

We were reeeeal high so the vocals were loud and overpowering the whole way through which was AMAZING!!!

    The harmonies...

And this song...the "blablablabla" bit is just incredible!

    So much PASSION! and ENERGY!

The stage hasn't seen this since RENT!

  • watching this gives me the chillls

  • that was the most amazing performance. i cant even imagine the excitement and energy in that theater during that song. this show never fails to blow me away!

  • this is AMAZING! I love love loveeee Spring Awakening! I saw it a few weeks ago and it gave me chills!

  • I saw this show yesterday. =[ it was so amazing and if ANYTHING should go off broadway it should be Phantom of the Opera. This show is wayyy to good to get off!

  • I will be at both shows tomorrow, and I am kinda scared what will happen to see after watching this. 3:16 still makes my life.

  • ah, i get chills when i watch this.

this sunday is gonna be crazy, i'm sure.

    i'm excited...but then, i don't want it to end :(

  • i was there this night...the energy in the theater was so high! It took about 5 minutes after this song for the audience to calm down and get quite enough for them to start the next scene

  • Spring Awakening is awesome! Just saw it a week ago! Im a huge fan of the show! Its awful that it is closing. I music, lighting and actors all together w. the set make for an amazing production!!

  • I love it when he dances!!!

  • they stepped it up for this show. everyone really outdid themselves and their roles

    can/ can't wait for the 18th. :(

  • i was there/slept on the street for a ticket and i was hysterical!

i can't wait to see the last show on the 18th. so bittersweet.

  • I will never stop watching this.

    3:16 still makes my life.

  • you said it!

  • This song is my favorite in the musical!

  • I love Spring Awakening...and this song is one of my faves

  • I just got mad chills: The the LAST TIME did you write this? YESSSSS!

  • i can't stop smiling when he yells "YES!"

  • i can understand the standing ovation. that's like after the 2nd to last performance of [title of show], which had a long standing ovation after 9pft

  • I wish I saw [title of show].

  • it was great. I wish I saw Spring Awakening.

  • Well, there is always tour and Spring Awakening hasn't closed yet on Broadway. You can try to squeeze one before January 18th.

  • is this play really that amazing?

  • I saw it in April, and I thought it was pretty amazing.

The music and the lighting are fantastic.

My favorite parts when the lights are mind-blowing are "Totally Fucked" sequence and "Mirror-Blue Night".

  • those two definitly are the best for lighting!

  • Unbelievably amazing.

  • IVE BEEN WAITING TO GO TO NEW YORK FR 2 YEARS, DYING TO SEE THIS MUSICAL...AND ITS FRIGIN CLOSING! and i live in asia so i cant see the tour.. :[

  • *Chills* So awesome!

  • hey......i love this video

i want to see this musical but im not sure if its age approiate so i was waondering if there was any nudity in it?

  • yes there is nudity (Wendla's breast and Melchiors butt; plus some pretty intense dry humping)

  • haha yeah, the dry humping caught me completely off guard! lol. but don't worry the nudity isn't graphic or anything. plus the sex scene is done in a very tasteful beautiful way =]

  • this has the best music everrrr!

i want to see it so bad.

  • i <333 this music! I wanna see it so bad!

  • Dear Lord, they were only screaming because it was their last performance. A REAL theater person would know that during final performances, even the actors goof around! Look at Jonathan Groff in this! He does it while Brian is singing! I tell you- if I was in that theater that night, I wouldn't have been able to contain myself.

  • ya i understand how you feel and its nothing but teenage girls that think he is hot.. i would be really mad if i was in that...

  • I was here, in row Q!

  • stop cheering!!, i cant hear a thing!!

  • Well if the comments are redundant, have been explained already, or just frustering--then yes, we get annoyed. See the little thumbs down marks?

Oh my god, I want to see this live sooo bad.

  • Wow i'm pretty new to youtube. As if people get so annoyed at comments! Lol

  • I can't believe people cheer when at the theatre? SO annoying. It's disrespectful, you miss what they're singing, and it takes away the theatre aspect, it aint a bloody concert. When it comes to UK, if that happens ohhh i'll be annoyed!

  • its only cause its the two main characters last performance on this stage EVER and the last time anyone will seem them play melchior and wendla

  • was it not just said that this only happened because the 2 original cast members were leaving??

i was one of those people screaming and if i hadnt it would have been rude so keep your bloody comments to yourself

  • Right on! People need to get over themselves... I'm tempted to fly to the UK when it debuts over there and rock the hell out of the audience.

As a performer, I know just how much a performance can benefit from great energy like that. Granted, cheering isn't appropriate for some shows, but Spring Awakening isn't one of them.

  • I don't mind loud cheering AFTER the song. It's still theatre, not a concert. It may have a loud score, but it's still disrespectful, especially to people who were seeing it at the first time and don't even know Lea or John were leaving.

You can still give energy to the actors without being loud during the song. You can still rock out without annoying others.

I don't think people "need to get over themselves." Spring Awakening is STILL a broadway show. A rock show, but a show nonetheless.

  • i was there.

we waited all fucking night for those tickets

OF COURSE WE WERE GOING TO CHEER!!!

oh and by the way, they definitely played off the energy they were getting from the audience and trust me i perform and that ALWAYS no matter what helps a performer.

we were all fucking die hard fans and it was insane you cant put it down.

also i doubt someone who hadn't seen the show prior because diehard fans were ON THAT SHIT the second they released the tix. so. no.

  • A couple of my friends who saw it that day hadn't seen the show prior. They thought it was kind of annoying when everyone was over doing their cheering. Not EVERYONE has seen the show prior to that day.

I am a fan of Spring Awakening and performer too. I don't mind when people react during a song, but I thought here, it was really overdone.

  • I think they should have expected it. I mean John Groff and Leah made that show. I think its gone to hell now but thats besides the point. Spring awakening markets as a "new" and "different" musical. And along with those titles comes different fans. Fans that are more dedicated. so yes for any other show, this would be overdone, but not spring awakening.

  • I don't think that's fair about them expecting it.

What do you mean about fans being more dedicated part? That part kinda confuses me.

And I wouldn't say that Groff and Michele made the show.

  • no show has every had a fan following like spring awakening... spring awakening fans are ten times more dedicated than those for any other shows. lea and jon made these roles what they are. i think together, the ENTIRE obc made the show what it IS... maybe not make the show, but they created the characters and made them the lovable roles they are today. however the tour cast is amazing, too

  • No. I know Lea and Jon made the characters. I was addressing how Lea and Jon weren't alone to make THE SHOW.

And there are other fanbases that are just as dedicated to their shows.

Anyways, forget it. I feel like we aren't going anywhere with this conversation. Sorry if I caused any trouble.

  • i REALLY doubt you know someone who went to this performance without previously seeing the show... it was IMPOSSIBLE to get tickets once it was announced what day they were leaving... and your friends are just as stupid for buying them that day

people waited overnight for these tickets because they were EXPECTING it to be this loud... that what a final show is about. and with fans like spring awakening has, its to be accepted. jon was obviously loving it. ROCK ON SA FANS WE MISS YOU JON AND LEA

  • Oh my God, get a grip of yourself! This is the last performance for the leading roles, and you think that it's treated as a concert??? The reason people are cheering is because it's their last show and they want to make the most fun out of it! You go to Broadway plays for entertainment and fun. Not for some old jibberish boring thing.

  • Please, don't tell me to get a grip of myself.

And dude, I said forget about it.

    This whole conversation has ended.

You have your opinions and I have mine.

    Enough is enough.

  • well, your opinions are really annoying. and even though i'm the one going on right now (i just really needed a say), you're still the one who doesn't know when enough is enough. if i was there (and i will be someday) i would have cheered and cried my ASS off even if it meant i would lose my voice forever. something like this is just waaaayy too awesome to not cheer over.

and yes, DO get a grip on yourself. stop being immature because that's all it is to tell someone not to tell you that.

  • If you don't agree with me, that's fine.

I'm just saying mine. I'm not forcing you to agree. We all have our own opinions on audience behavior and theatre.

I'm going to keep on saying my opinions like you are going to state yours. Is it annoying that I disagree with you?

I wasn't trying to cause trouble. All of you jumped on me because I had another view about how to react to it.

  • these peole in the audience are pissing me off it's like rent were they scream really loud at the begginging of every song like it's a concert they ruin the experence for the real theatre people

  • i've been multiple times and such loud audience reactions only occured during this particular performance b/c it was the last for the two leads.

  • actually people who do that are the real theater people now the yuppy scums who think there at an opera

  • so how would you convince your parents into taking you to see Spring Awakening? my parents excuse is that "it would be dumb to sit close to or on the stage at a show where they are all up in your face WHILE they're cussing".

  • i dunno... you're fucked...

  • Lol.

  • Well, it might be tough, but it can be done. Tell them you're mature, and you know about what they will disscuss, and if you have any questions you will ask them. It might get a little awkward at times during certain songs, but I'm sure your parents will be glad they took you,It's what we as teens are going through. They do curse, but they don't actually say "fuck" that much except this song. they say "bitch, shit, ass". More in another comment.

  • There is fake masturbation, a sex scene, homosexuals kissing, and teen pregnancy. Also, you don't HAVE to be close. All seats are awesome, I was in second row mezzanine, and i saw everything perfectly. It's too bad you won't be able to see it with this cast though, they were amazing!!! :) good luck!

  • thanks soo much! actually if my parents don't take me, me and my friends Alyssa are gonna drive up ourselves and get McD's ;) and then go see the show. she is a HUGE fan adn she was willing to drive both of us. we're already planning it and we still have 7-8 months to go! lol

  • i know how you feel! i live in arizona and me and my friend have been waiting for this for MONTHS! i shave a count down on my myspace! haha

    im so excited!

  • I saw it in december of 2007. Amazing show.

  • Same here! December 14th or 15th, I can't remember. It was the day before JGJ's final performance.

  • it was a religious experience seeing this show in 07.

  • Why does it feel wrong?

  • But it doesn't promote it's subject matter- it just displays it (in a very accurate way, I might add).

  • that's true.

thanks for talking with me about it

I feel more comfortable now with taking an interest in this musical

  • No problem :)

  • it does not promote the subject matter, it shows the negative consequences. it accurately displays some vital topics, and then shows how harmful it can be to your life (i.e. after having sex wendla becomes pregnant so on...) however, it also shows how harmful NOT KNOWING this information can be. (i.e. had wendla known you can get pregnant from having sex she may not have done it in the first place.) its a very truthful, innocent, and beautiful show. it's not to be frowned upon as pornography

  • not religious in the conventional form of the word, what i mean is, for me it was a very passionate experience. i am not a religious person; i didn't find it like going to church, i found it as a very intently passionate experience that really moved me.

  • Look at those lights, it's so beautiful ;DDD

  • This is truly amazing. I absolutely love Lea and Jon...

  • On STAGE?? IS THIS BROADWAY!?

  • Yepp. Eugene O'Neil theater.

  • I've got seats on stage for 8/28/08 sooo excited!

  • Thats so amazing!!!!!How do you get those!?

  • you have to become a fan club member then you'll get e-mail offers. I think there may be other ways but that's how i got mine

  • this is an awkward play to have on stage seating for. but it's amazing! :)

  • that was the BESTT night of my life!!!

  • got stage seats by going day of the show on a wednsday got two stage seats next to each other around 1015 am for the 7pm show for regualr price..i think i just got really lucky haha

  • how much is it to sit on stage?

  • 40 bucks

but the onstage seats are sold out until like next july but ive been a member of the fan club for like a year so i get first come first serve [=

  • 40! really?

for some reason i thought they would be super expensive.

and how do u become a member of the fan club?

  • They're cheaper because they're considered "partial view." And I'm not really sure what jomonkeymonkey was talking about, because I had a stage seat this past Saturday night that I bought two weeks ago.

  • oic, thanks :)

  • saw it 3 times

had front row seats each time

and im going a fourth time and got on stage seats

best show ever to hit broadway

  • ive only seen spring awakening once, but it was the most amazing thing everr. i cannot wait to see it again. how do i get seats onstage??
