Ok, a Chinese please explain this to me. I always thought Kexin was an ethnic minority. But is mandarin an ethnic minority. And what is the difference.
Thank you,
P.S.
The Olympics has started a facination of the Chinese people and culture with me. As i am extremely thirty to learn about them, and have a newfound respect and admiration of them. Again, thank you.
ok, teagarden. you first have to understand that there are at least more than 50 (54 i think) ethnic groups. out of these 54, 96% of all chinese are Han ethnic group chinese. only 4% left are all 53 other groups. if u were an ethnic minority chinese, that is considered really interesting cuz it is rare to find an ethnic minority chinese guy in china, or anywhere to be exact. he kexin is not an ethnic minority, but ma yanhong was a Hui minority too (she was also a chinese gymnast)
Yes, my country fears the rise of the Chinese athlete. And im glad that the smart Chinese understand that this bigotry, is really fear. My nation thinks that every Olympic medal belongs to them. Yang and the other girls showed them, that you have to earn Olympic medals. There can be no doubt that Chinese women will dominate the world of gymnastics for many years to come.
u from america or sumfin? many people hate them right now but the majority of them don't care about the age controversy, it's like only the people who are arrogant and think they should win that's being dumb. i think that people should only hate who started all this nonsense, not everyone from the country.
Actually, those who are doing all the hating are our overweight and spoiled teenage girls who now know they cant beat the more fit, agile, and graceful Chinese girls. And they also know, that they dont have the power to snatch the medals away from the better athletes.
The Olympics dont belong to America, they belong to the world. And yes, i am from America, but i dont let others do my thinking for me. What i saw in the Chinese girls, were the best athletes in the world. Period!!
we are still considered by many not good, because we only very occasionally produce very good athletes in sports that are usually dominated by other countries like track and field, and swimming. and you're right, the whole point of the olympic games is to promote peace, not for us to backstab each other.
China just started the Olympics in 1984, the rest of the world has about a 100 year head start on you. China found a gold-medal sprinter, and she will find another. Blacks arent supposed to be good swimmers, but America found a black gold-medal swimmer.
Trust me, China will find more sprinters, swimmers, and yes, even basketball players. There are already several Chinese players in the NBA. Again, China just started playing basketball. China is respected, as we know they will get better.
are you actually being serious? they are the absolute farthest thing from being overweight. hello! they are olympic athletes! I can't believe you just said that
well, technically, yes. it is a dialect, not a language, but many ppl outside of guangdong speak it. you see, cantonese literally translates as 'guangdongese' in mandarin, so you can see it is the dialect of guangdong province. but i think it won't be that useful anymore (maybe where i live) but everyone who speaks canto can speak mandarin.
I think Cantonese will go for another few more generations, at least; if not a few hundred years more, depending on how much more are we gonna mess up this planet.
I find Cantonese a very colorful and expressive dialect, and I enjoy speaking what little I know of it, whenever I get the chance.
My Yeh-yeh was from Toi-San, Gongdoong; my Ba-ba from HK and I'm all over the place, and I'm proud of it. Luv our food, too.
Man, you are a God. Thank you. The Bejing Olympics were supposed to give the world a new understanding and create new fans of the Chinese. And i have become a fan of the Chinese, but it is so frustrating that no one translate these videos. So again thank you, as you give the new fans of the Chinese a greater understanding.
Can you translate this?

None of the chinese girls looked 35, had 20 inch neck, broad shoulders, chubby muscular bodies like the american WAG team.

yang yilin is from guangdong, which is why she might not really be as good at mandarin as all her teammates.

the TV show host: Yilin, I know you have the habit of writing training log. And you gave all the logs to your father. Why?
Yilin: No particular reason, just give it to my dad.
Host: did your parents give you any pressure before the Games?
Yilin: No, they just told me to do my best
Host: I know you exchanged many Olympic pins and badges, when you were in the Olympic Village, how many?
Yilin: A lot
Host: I should change my career to be a gymnast, then I can get these stuff. (jokingly).
