@jcfbell3001 dude try playing an electric violin with distortion. while you are completely right about tone with classic violins, it doesn't apply with the electric instrument world. in any case, he's a virtuoso that studied with pros from Julliard and whatnot..I think he knows a thing or two about tone ;)

@jcfbell3001 that's not what I mean. the fact that the sound is capted from pickups limits the tone when compared to classic violins, who's tone is sensitive to everything. I don't know, I say this from personal experience with the same electric violin that tone is much affected by the bow on a classic, but little on an electric. But really, what I meant to say is that tone doesn't really apply when using effects like distortion. Try it out yourself if you get the chance.
