Think of a big fat ripe watermelon stuck with a dairy bottle full of daddy's backwater whiskey. Served cold, on the Fourth of July. From small town USA, or to any town on our planet, Hedgie always sounded good. Miss you, man.
The blues was the last genre I thought Michael Hedges would do, but he does it well. I like how he sounds like he's using a slide even though he plays without one.
The best blues of history

tune your A up to B & your D up to E. Fairly simple from there. Good Luck!

Open e minor I think, uses a D shape up 2 frets for the main riff. Least that's the Ramsey version.

"Watermelon Man" was indeed written by Willis Alan Ramsey. Recommend highly his one album. Like this cover very much, too.

I can't tell you how many nights I watched michael play this live from about 12 feet away in baltimore in the late 70's. Just wonderful memories!

Thought he was gonna play a cover of Herbie Hancocks' 'Watermelon Man" from 'Headhunters' album--man, that would have been kinda different--LOL.
