  • She was influenced by Minnie Riperton the one who originated the song Loving You , She uses whistle alot , but Mariah Carey has the most Beautiful Whistle so far,

  • definition of whistle : MARIAH CAREY

  • okay when you see a video like this full with whistle alone, it's getting kinda anoying and random..;P but she is a great singer of course, kinda inhuman!

  • I personally don't really care for past the 7th octave too much, but her whistles O.O

  • great video LOVE MARIAH FOREVER!!

  • her whistle gives me goosebumps

  • I want to be able to hit the G#7 note I got all the other ones I guess I have to listen to G#7 notes until I nail it!

  • I LOVE HER FOREVER.

  • This isn't even possible. She's a bird.

  • @lilsis it is possible...specially because her mother is/was (dont know) an opera singer...and i'm trying to do that (awch, my throath) but i'm getting there...xD

  • @argievivero Thanks for filling me in ^^

  • what song is d7 4:52? plss?

  • @TheGinger9999 all in your mind

  • According to Wikipedia: "Children can also phonate in the whistle register and men can as well in very rare instances."

I'm a man and I can phonate the Whistle register. Don't miss this opportunity; check out my rare talent!

  • wow mariah was a great whistler

  • I made it to G#7 and I wasn't even straining. o__o

  • what song at 1:45 ??

  • What was 1:45?

  • @ISCMusicOnline The One

  • Her lowest whistle register notes is G5

  • I love her whistle, they're always soft and gentle. Most other whistles sound to sharp.

  • How the fuck does she do that! She amazes me!

  • @mentonerodominicano check out my youtube page, lol im am a newly signed artist an di model as well

  • @mentonerodominicano Every female has a whistle register. Most just can't access it, and if they can, they usually can't control what it does. It's an unwieldy thing. It takes complete relaxation of the vocal chords and a very good ear. :]

  • @maryruthanne What do you mean by "very good ear" ?

  • @xxaishiteru29xx You can easily tell the difference between pitches, and their relative pitch, and know if you're in tune or not. And you pretty much never sing off key.

  • I bet she's always smiling so that it helps her whistle lol

  • Thanks for posting. What song was 2:37 amazing.

  • @ClockworkRockStar It's, FLY LIKE A BIRD. from "The Emancipation of Mimi" 2005 album, And this performance was in April of 2008 on American Idol.

  • @DanielAvilaAGT Ok, thanks.

  • mariah's whistle sounds like a bird, unlike others...too sharp...!!!

  • whats the song at 0:22-0:28

  • @aaronjohsonlover13 Fantasy

  • @aaronjohsonlover13 Fantasy

  • No its already deep :P i just know how to do it right :)

  • Im a 14 year old boy who can hit a C7 and sumtimes higher! But i have to work on controllling it.

  • @MrWISHUWEREME23

wait till your become a teenager , your voice won't be that high anymore ...lol

  • @MrWISHUWEREME23 don;t listen to the other reply, if u do simple vocalizes u will be able to hit them older. Google lip rolls and humming, and check out singing cussess (costs 200$), or singing for the stars (costs 30$), both are SLS, meaning a natural way of singing for any genre.

  • I can hit a C#7 and im a 14 year old boy :P its not that conplicated as long as u do it right and i can hit higher sumtimes. It took me 4 months to learn how to whistle correctly.

  • im sure mabibingi kayo....hahahah

  • Just curious, and wondering but did so many years of "whistling" sort of take a toll on her voice? I don't hear her even attempt to whistle lately or at least not as high.

  • @Boyonspace Mariah's voice has changed drastically over the years and it's mainly due to her being overworked NOT by the use of this register. It has in some ways deteriotated her other registers BUT her whistle register is stronger than ever. She has said in interviews that she can't no longer hit notes that she used to hit especially during her prime BUT her whistle register is more diverse now than it was before.

  • @ale5677

Really :) Wow, okay thanks for answering my question. Its just something I've been wondering for a long time.

  • she sounds like a mermaid

  • i love her and her whistles!

  • what song at 4:24?

  • shes the only singer that can whistle perfectly . .she can control and reached highest pitch of whistle so effortless . .no one can defeat mariah . .shes really the goddess of music . .

  • she is like a bird that is tweeting. :) great!

  • this is the reason she´s my favorite female singer *--*

  • amazing

  • this would be so much more impressive if she didn't have to put her finger over her one ear to hear the pitch.

  • sooo good. but after about a minute and a half of watching I start cracking up on each whistle hahaha. shes a legend

  • I use to love her then she started acting like a diva & not in a good way. She kind of lost her voice too , but her whistle registers draw me in all the time

  • When she did the G#7 in the last video Was like a bird sound hehehe she has an amazing voice!!!

  • I tried so hard but she's better than me and THE BEST among ALL of the singers with whistle register...I LOVE MARIAH <3

  • love love love

  • sounds like someoneis whistling

  • what song is she performing @ 1:29 ? She looks best there.<3 The higher the better. I love whistle notes, it always amazes me. If only I could get there! That thing she does @ 5:30 blows me away!!!!!!!!<3

  • oh my god...!!! how can i sing like MC's whistle register?? it sounded amazing like a bird...you should change your song become song like a bird!!!

  • i love you so much mariah carey...

  • Makes my throat hurt just watching this.

  • Im not a singer or anything but why does she hold her finger on her ear when she whistles? Its not an insult maybe its just her technique of doing it?

Vocals are very interesting to learn about hehe :D

  • @BladeAndSoul she does for she can hear herself when she does it for she know she is doing it right (Reference Adventures of MIMI

  • @BladeAndSoul to ensure that the correct note is hit and to avoid confusion with the backup singers...

  • @BladeAndSoul It's so she can hear her voice inside her head, rather than through the speakers. It helps her tune herself right..

  • Amazing noteee!! Check it out!!! <----- type this in search its a rare clip of mariah hitting a live super high but dont turn your speakers up too high lmao

  • OMG starting 2:22 she hit G6 with a headvoice.... very impressive..

  • what's the song @ 4.38? anyone can tell me?

  • On the 2nd C#7...she actually sounded kinda like Minnie Riperton!!!

  • I can do that...-_-

  • at 4:40 she's like woah i didn't know i could go that high! i was so scared she would break her voice watching this!!!

  • wht song was at 1:15 ish

  • mariah rocks my sockssssssssss

  • She's been doing this for about 20 years now and still has it.

  • holy cow nipples!!! o.o

  • absolutely amazing

  • omg those staccatos send me into a frenzy lol

  • Unlike some other singers with whistle register Mariah knows how to control hers.

  • simply love the staccato whistle on All In Your Mind at 5:22....Smash hit!

  • I <3 u MC :3

  • Why does she touch his ear, whenever she's going to the whistle thing?

  • @deyagm1989 She touches her ear because she's wearing a earpiece that allows her to hear herself so she can make sure she's hitting the right notes.

  • She just broke my window

  • Damn, what I would give to have a voice like hers, AMAZING!

  • LEGEND.

  • The difference between Mariah's Whistle register sound like a bird having heavenly orgasm and Georgia's is a bird getting raped,.... HAHAHA!!!

  • SHES JUST FUKING AMAZING (L)

  • this bitch was born to sing!

  • I miss this Mariah, why did she change?

  • Love you Mariah highest note I can get is F#8

straining. Is that the highest one?

  • @yaymesohappy

    oh reallly???

  • whats the title of the song that starts at :31 and 1:46 can please somebody tell me.. its so beautiful ^^

  • @asecute Yours (live on The Today Show) and The One (live on MTV), both from her Charmbracelet album of 2002.

  • @trentnjones oh thank you ^^

  • It's amazing how effortless she can control and sing in her higher register.

  • Uh, to the people who are wondering why she presses her ear on the whistle notes, it's to hear herself. There's a custom earphone or monitor in her ear.
