  • WAS IT DAVID -OR- ROBIN Evidence pointing to David 1. David's fingerprints in blood on murder weapon. 2. The glasses implicate David, his lawyer said David would not dispute that he was wearing them on the weekend of the murders. 3. Brothers blood on David's clothes. 4. Opera Otago Gondoliers sweatshirt was worn by David over weekend, had blood stains on right shoulder and cuff but of course no explanation from David.
  • I have Karam's book but would like to have some background information; is there no documentary that discusses the case in its entirety?

  • @Lacedaemonia counterspin.co.nz its all here.

  • @vicpur Cheers- I'll have a look. But what's with this 'Unraveling [sic] the mysteries of the life of Christ' on the site? I just want to know more about this particular case, not read some religious nut's take on fairytales.

  • @Lacedaemonia Not a religious nut and thats been removed I think. There are also two doco's that have been done about the case by Bryan Bruce for TVNZ. They are called "A Question Of Justice" and another called "The Case Against Robin Bain" which was recently screened on tv. You can also get some more details by looking at the "The Investigator" on Facebook. Theres also another site on Facebook with a substancial number of members called "Justice For Robin Bain" .

  • This HeartlessArchAngel69 person is a joke. Learn the case before you say David Bain is innocent. All the courts through the years have said David did it. You wont find a non biased person with half a brain cell who knows the case saying hes innocent. The only reason the 2009 jury got the wrong verdict was the reasonable doubt created. They made little effort to dispute the strong forensic evidence implicating David. Smart legal move, but it doesn't change the fact that David is guilty

  • If you watch this with no sound you can lip read Karam!! He appears to be saying

    "Show ME the money!!!!!"

  • The entire country knows David is guilty. Hes not dangerous but hes guilty.

  • It takes 10 seconds to remove a silencer.I would of if I was going to shoot myself instead of struggling to reach the trigger.

Id also of had piss!!Robyns bladder was full.Think most men do this first.Bet even Jack the Ripper did. GUILTY AS SIN!!! Send him back to prison!!

  • Gee I'm going to commit a murder-suicide and wear gloves and then take them off. I'm going to go to all the trouble of tying a message on the antiquated 80's computer (with the long start up). And when I murder my younger son brutally non of the material will end up on my person and much of it on my other son on his paper round.

The Killer's walked free as far as I'm concerned.

  • materal found on davids clothing was proven that it could be subsiquent with finding his family dead, and checking so!

I reccon hes innocent, for a start how does his big foot make a smaller sock print? his father had smaller feet

I think birning the house destroied key evidence that could have solved this case!

let the man live his life now, he is free! and think, if there is a chance he is innocent, the man had to hear about the death of his family for the last 15 years! poor man!

  • Nothing was proven, it was CLAIMED and the shabby jury bought it.

That sock thing is a red herring, the police fitted the prints at the time.

The man committed a brutal fraternicide. Just because his defence dressed him in nerdy Jersey's doesn't mean he isn't capable of murder.

What about the washed clothes and the established times of death?

  • the police at the time also made a lot of mistakes! INCLUDING the time the computer was turned on!

I think one of the key things in the defence was the stories about shooting and stabbing parents that were written by children at Robin Bain's school were published in the school newsletter!

what kind of well thinking adult thinks its ok to publish stories by kids about killing their families? especially so close to the time they were actually killed!

  • The defence have thrown up some red herrings, such as the computer being turned on. Thanks to the Crewe murders people automatically assume the NZ police are dodgy and incompetent. The fact remains that it is far more likely David Bain deliberately typed that message than Robin.

  • And also, while as Principal Robin Bain was responsible for whatever material was published in that newsletter, it's highly likely he never even saw it and certainly wouldn't have selected it. That would have been more junior staff.

I don't mean to be rude, but it seems idiotic to me to find something like that key. It's about s credible as the stories from the younger brother's classmates about him telling them he awoke a week or so before and saw David in his room pointing the gun at him.

  • I think the burning of the house was the undoing of this case! some valuable evidence was destroied in this event, it could have even proved once and for all whether it was david or robyn if that evidence had been kept! just sayin!

  • So now you're not so convinced David is innocent? have you read up some for yourself?

The neighbours and the local council decided to burn the house. It was some time after the murders and was delayed by the Police's forensic examinations.

And I can't say I blame them. I'd feel the same way in their shoes.

There's a good reason why he was found guilty before...

  • Im saying there is resonable doubt either way!

some time after? two weeks isnt some time after!

one of the things that has never been considered is if robyn had killed the family and david had killed his father!

  • You said you reckoned he's innocent.

As for the house, you might feel differently if it happened in your neighbourhood.

As for your last scenario, listen to David's 111 call. He would still be a manipulative liar if that was the case.

Stories of 'black hands' and blackouts. All sounds like an act to me.

  • I doubt I would feel differently about the house acutally, the family admit the only reason they burnt it down was to prepare it for sale!

as for the 111 call they claim that david actually said "I shot the prick" though nobody else can hear it!

I THINK he is innocent, but Its just speculation, without the evidence from the house, nobody can be sure either way! guilty or not guilty!

In light of reasonable doubt, you cant tell if hes gulty! if hes not hes been through enough already!

  • "I doubt I would feel differently about the house acutally, the family admit the only reason they burnt it down was to prepare it for sale!"

    [truekiwijoker shakes his head]

I can only assume you're either very young or live in a socially estranged existence.

It is pretty much the done thing when something horrific like this happens that the house gets burnt down.

You might not but us normal people would rather not have a dilapidated reminder of horror standing there.

  • only if by 'very young' you mean only a year younger than david was when he suposidly commited serial murder!

all im saying is, with reasonable doubt either way, We are not in any judgement to make this man suffer if there is a chance he didnt do it!

as for the house, I would NOT feel the same way! what about the lundy murders...that house wasnt burnt down was it?

Please dont insult my intaligence and please, care to define 'normal'

    IT DOESNT EXIST!

  • No I think you're very naive and out of touch with how society works. And somehow insecure and defensive.

They usually burn down houses where horrible things like this happen. For example David Grey's house at Aramoana. The Lundy's is an anomoly because it's already in horrible Kelvin Grove Palmerston North.

You HAVE made a judgement. Before and on other videos you've stated your opinion that David is innocent.

I think you either don't know the full details or are very naive.

  • Please dont get personal! Dont insult my intaligence! Im far from nieve!

wait...you mean to say that the lundy house holds less connotation because it is in palmerston north and not in christchurch or auckland or whatever?wow...how shallow!

    reasonable doubt!!

there are two sides to every argumet! I was just saying why punnish him if you cant be sure he is gulty? If he is not guilty, I put to you, isnt hearing the deaths of his family over and over for 13 years is enough suffering?

  • I'm not insulting your intelligence or getting personal. You're just getting defensive and taking it personally.

I was making a joke abut the Lundy case. Unlike most of these crackpot murders the house wasn't dilapidated and the family appeared functional.

Have you ever considered he might be guilty? the jury the first two times certainly did.

  • I have considered either way! I am unsure of whether he is gulty or innocent, I said I reaccon he is innocent becasue of reasonable doubt!

theres a pretty big question mark over this, that you could send a man who could well be innocent back to jail over a bunch of maybes! pretty big risk! and IF he is innocent hes suffered through these trials for 13 years!

  • Well you might think there's reasonable doubt.

    I don't.

  • "as for the 111 call they claim that david actually said "I shot the prick"

    He doesn't.

You've missed my point. If you listen to the tape you'll see that even if he did only kill the father he's still putting on an act.

  • if the house was still standing today, DNA testing to todays standards could prove for sure either way!

the connotations of the house should NOT have stood in the way of key evidence that was destroyed!

  • "if the house was still standing today, DNA testing to todays standards could prove for sure either way!"

The police had two weeks to get all the evidence they needed to get David convicted.

And this talk of the family wanting to sell the property is BS too. It probably had more to do with the tapu rights of Margaret Bain.

  • Found not guilty on the new trial. Corrupt system here in New Zealand made David Bain suffer for 13 years.
