  • sorry i just don't understand what i'm looking at...lol.

  • You are looking at the south pole of the moon grazing past a star. The star disappears behind a mountains and reappears in the valleys between.

    If you look closely sometimes the star is less bright. Yhe star is a double star and one component is behind the moon and the other component is in view.

    In this way the lunar features are mapped and very close stars are discovered.
