She was fabulous on the show. She was soft and John was unyielding but, despite himself, he did fall in love with her.

Big John, did love Victoria, not at the start , but as the show went on, he adored her.

I don't think he ever really cared for her . I remember the show from the past and saw all 98 episodes. I think he was always afraid of her father and was decent to her after awhile because he didn't want to end the arrangement. If he didn't keep her safe, Sebastian would end it. On the website it says he loved her by the end of the first season but no scenes between them showed any romance or sexual desire on his part. I could be wrong because the show was edited for commercials.
