Sadly it's lost most of it's beauty in this movie. Had the privilege to be there in 1978 and there was nothing there but huts. Then it was truly beautiful. Long beach with nobody on it, just deserted. Now Kata and Karon have been ruined by hotels. I'd post pictures but we had our camera stolen while we were there. Memories are all that remain!

could you please tell me the place name of the hilltop cabins you filmed from/ we stoped there in 2008 and lost the card with the name and plan to go back next year and stay there

did you say "karon beach is a little bit south off kata beach", i think its kata that is a little bit south off karon, but corect me if i were wrong. :D

You are correct, Kata is a bit south of Karon, my mistake. Hope you enjoyed the video of Karon it really is an incredible view point.
