Si por esas cosas del destino, los dos estuvieran en actividad, estoy seguro que serían campeones del mundo; como pesos pesados o cruceros; cualquier crucero de la actualidad, no le aguantarían ni dos round a ninguno de los dos.
exactly the punches landed on walcott the left hook just barely touch his forehead and the right uppercut just touch his cheekbone. walcott really just wanted the $250.000.00 dollars fast and get out as quickly as possible.
@MJKDTJ That right looked pretty flush to me. Watch Joe's head snap back when he falls to the canvas. The man looked stunned by that right that looks to have tagged him right on the sweet spot
Walcott did himself a favour staying down, notice how he doesn't protest after the ref stops the fight. He knew the fight was gonna end in a one-sided & probably brutal beating far worse than their 1st fight.
@CyderDrinkerDorset yeah, he didn't protest until after some time, right then and there he was kinda pleased that he found a way out there allready in the first round.
The first fight wasn't onesided though, had Walcott stayed on his feet after 12 and lost 13, 14, 15, he would still have gotten the decision.
@primeboxers The 1st fight was close & Walcott was ahead after 12, what I was trying 2say was that after the KO in the 1st fight Walcott was very wary of Rocky. That knockdown in the 1st round would have led to a sustained & savage beating & Joe made the right decision staying down. Rocky was relentless & Joe knew he could never beat him. He was KO'd in their 1st fight, had he got up here Rocky might have done him some serious damage.
people are saying that rocky didnt hit him that hard, idk, joe hit that mat hard as hell!

Jersey Joe Walcott should've gotten up from that. He could have definitely gotten up. He could've gone several more rounds with Marciano.

the fight wouldnt have last much longer after this. the rock had too much power and was too determined. JJ got off easy.

Not sure why people are saying the count was too fast.
Watch the time on the video.
Walcott is completely down at 4:05, and gets up at 4:15.
Sure, the ref COULD have given him a freebie and let it slide because it WAS very close.
But the count was not too fast. Not at all.

@FSMNoodlyAppendage Actually now that I watch it again, he was down even BEFORE the 4:05 minute mark! His back hit JUST after 4:04.
Personally, I still would have given him the chance to continue, but that doesn't mean the ref's decision was incorrect.

It was more or less onesided in his favour....

Also, I guess it was said that the 8 second rule was in effect - a boxer must be up at 8, and then he has 2 more seconds to get his senses back!

@DrTruth007 watch the counting-thingy as his back hits the canvas it shows 4:05, and the referee reaches 10 and ends it at 4:15.
the count was not fast!!!
Walcott could have got up at any time, but he didn't want to, he doesn't even look angry about the situation.
