Wow, Rob, this is so great, love what you've done here, outstanding! Favourited! :-) Also, I've never heard all the lyrics before, you've educated me again, thank you! :-) X
Well the feel was radically different, and I tried to select photos that somehow spoke of rejoicing and freedom. The lady who is smiling and playing the cornet is the one I like the best. I think she belonged to the Temperance movement or perhaps a Suffragette... and I had to put her in for the lines "when the trumpet sounds the call"
I liked that photo of the Russian soldier beating a drum and the German soldier doing a dance. I imaged that war had ceased to be ,a former enemies were now dancing with each other.
You hear these urban legends that at christmas time during WWI the soldier got out of the trenches swapped cigarettes and played a game of footie.
Just a glimmer of hope for a few hours. It is wonderful when sense and worth breaks through.
The Christmas truce 1914 at Ypres was no urban legend. It happened. My grandfather was one of the troops brought in to replace those who had participated in it because they could no longer bring themselves to fire on the German soldiers they had befriended.
All it takes is a slight chink in the madness for humanity to sprout.
That is great to know that it actually happened. It gives pause for thought when the human spirit triumphs over war an politics, and the madness stops if only for an instant.
That's made me feel a whole lot better about the world, thanks Tony. I cringe and cover my ears everytime war is mentioned, but I smiled reading your comment. :-) X
This may well be the very best thing you've done, Robert. Outstanding. Love the singing and the apocalyptic sentiments. The photos fit beautifully. Many stars.
And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
No!!! you are supreme. So supreme that all the crabs in all the oceans belong to you.
Ever tried a crab burger with cheese? Crab burgers give 'em a try sometime. I can't usually get 'em myself because my girlfriend's a vegitarian which pretty much makes me a vegitarian. But I do love the taste of a good crab burger. Mm-mm-mm. You know what they call a Quarter Pounder crab burger with cheese in France? A Supreme with cheese. You know why they call it that? Because of the metric system?
I wanted to do a dance with an umbrella to it out in the snow, but then I came across that photo of North American indians dancing and their feathers looked like wings. That was what I saw first of all but on closer inspection I noticed they were all wearing numbers... it must have been some dance competition.
So it amused me to think of every tribe and nation dancing into heaven with a number on them.
No you are splendid. An aura of splendiferousness surrounds you like an orb of gold. You are so splendid that scintillating sparks surround you as the wind whips your hair

Yes I thought those 2 bars of harmonica during the "trumpet sounds the call" was a nice touch. I was pleased with that.

Many of those old spiritual have a central theme of freedom and an escape from slavery. Of being delivered out of bondage.
I suppose the slaves in the plantations saw many parallels between themselves and the Children of Israel being delivered out of slavery in Egypt

Great - made me listen to an old standard as if for the first time. Liked the video and information as well.

Ooops!!! Looks like the the John Travolta quote from Pulp Fiction completely missed the mark.
I should have learned my lesson by now. I get things so wrong sometimes. Apologies.

I did not know you were a veggie,
My son just sent me a link to a video called "Simply Raw" which espouses the idea from Hippocratse... namely "Let food be your medicine"
Perhaps after all... we are what we eat.

Woo! Fascinating imagery! Great job!
ctrymaus 2 years ago
Well the imagery is straight from the book of Revelation which was written by St John on the Island of Patmos.
Being a prophet he most have seen into the future and tuned into Al Gore's speeches :-)

It is a basic call and response song. I had just done "Way down in the hole" in that style so this was a natural follow on.

The "Monster" nickname and the premium charged to have it played were new facts for me. What a great video!
