  • Totally Impressed!! The smoke pipe, the sound system--ridiculous!! Gold Star!!

  • I'd rather have one of the clear Acrylic Lucite Plexiglass Wheelchairs that Professor Xavier has in X2.....

  • A truly beautiful piece of master craftsmanship. The ideal chair for a steampunked Professor X, Professor Moriarty or Dr No =D

  • That is sooo cool! I bet you got loads of strange looks though. Still this is pretty darn awesome.

  • Very Very nice.

  • Amazing

  • vodka ..oh buddy you better not drink and drive!

  • Gosh if I still had my mortized chair I would so trick it out!

  • This is beautiful.

  • Totally worth getting paralyzed for.

  • wtf batteries i thought this was steam powered?!

  • That's cool, I hope you have more ideas!

  • WOOOOOW... I'm lost for words. Or. The words that I do have isn't very coherent.

  • this is sooo cool

  • i should so mod my manual wheelchair now.

  • i want it.. i want it soo bad haha

  • The sound it makes is awesome...

  • i recently saw your awesome project on a tv show called 4 days at dragoncon....

I have been dying to know what that music was that they were playing.... it was a simple tune played on an electric violin. Any help would be much apreciated!!

    keep up the good work!

  • I saw this at Dragon Con today - AWESOME!

  • As a disabled steampunk who has just nicknamed her new powerchair "Xavier", this chair is the embodiment of my dreams! If money and shipping were no obstacle I would pay you to make a replica for me! I particularly love the pistons on the front wheels. I pay tribute to your awesome skills and vision!

  • Ultimate cool. Nice job!!!!!

  • I've been slowly pulling things together for my old powerchair but finding some of the parts are a royal pain (a simple 1900's Barbers chair is all I ask). I'd love to know more about your sound effects system though, seems cool.

  • Very cool! How do you move the controls to get in the chair?

  • I'll have you know that I didn't go to Conooga for the first time in three years. I am extrememly sad that I missed seeing this!

  • ...for when you want to take X-Men to the epic level! :)

  • This needs to be in a museum.

  • @sgtsquishy it is, if your near Boston check it out at the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation until May 30th

  • @sgtsquishy settle down dr jones

  • I would put double vodka in the tank!

  • if i ever become paralyzed im buying this wheelchair

  • Is that gonna be used in a movie or something, if so, I'd definitely watch that movie.

  • Great work! Just needs a built-in umbrella too! :)

  • if would break my legs if it would get me one =D

  • You're THE STEAMPUNK GOD!!!

  • But can I plug in my ipod?

  • @SanityMechanism yes, yes you can... see my other video :) it has a 5" subwoofer which does a pretty good job. Stay tuned for future portable sound system chairs ;)

  • I like it but would not drink from it. If the bubbles are from outside air being pumped in them the drink will act as an air filter catching dust and debris. (see "bong"). No dust drink for me please.

Other than that it looks awesome!

  • @nicholmikey the air pump recirculates the air from the bubble tubes. It is pretty sealed, also the liquid inside is consumed so soon it doesn't have enough time to suck in dust. You probably get more dust in an open top drink that you leave on a counter top for an hour.

  • @nicholmikey Thats all you can say!! This project is done very well, hats off.

  • @Trevormoen Don't get me wrong, this is 100% awesome

  • ohhh I love it. I am in a powered wheelchiar, but it's too big for me. They are hard to afford. It was the best my parents could do.

  • great!!! now i don't worry getting old. Hopefully somebody might build such a great wheelchair for me.....

  • 17 people rather walk than using this piece of epicness :/

  • EPIC WIN! to bad people dont appreciate your iron man costume as much :/ oh well we still think its hilarious XD

for future reference: let us never forget the "scarlet witch" incident mk?

  • Hi Daniel - My name is Bruce Rosenbaum, owner of ModVic, Steampuffin and the Steampunk House. I'm curating Steampuffin's Steampunk Form & Function: An Exhibition of Invention, Innovation and Gadgetry at the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation. We had an incredible Opening Night on Friday and the Boston Globe and NPR are doing feature stories. I would like to exhibit your Steampunk Wheelchair. Are you interested? email me at Bruce@modvic.com

  • Excellent work, top job.

  • VODKA AND CRANBERRY JUICE.

    FUEL OF VICTORIAN DR.X

  • I suspect that if I were ever to require such, I would definitely want something along these lines.

  • is the control panel water proof?

  • @Goldengirl159 ummm no. It's had a couple of spills on it but cleaned up quickly. The wood is waxed so it beads off. I'm actually planning on a mod that will water proof the delicate stuff inside a little better.

  • @Goldengirl159 not yet, it's planned but the wood is waxed which helps, this is a fair weather day chair, wouldn't want the velvet to get ruined by rain ;)

  • Yeah, several friends asked me at Con "Is he really handicapped?" and then acted dismayed when I told them you aren't. They're not really superheroes, though, so I don't know where they get off.

It was great talking(& drinking) with you at Con! (I was the Blue's Clues Steve). I'm astounded by your work on this chair. Hope to talk with you again soon!

  • @Cinemastique Yea, people are always a little let down by the fact that I don't "need" the chair. However I'm not bothered by it.

Likewise! always glad to see ya!

  • Very cool. I work at a rehab hospital and I just sent a link to our power wheelchair guy so he can drool.

  • @Ranuel03 haha! thanks! I love to hear what others in the wheel chair industry think. The north american distributors of Permobil actually ran across my chair and I got an email from the local rep. He still wants to meet up and check it out in person!

  • Sooooooo cool!!! XD

  • It'll make you glad that your handicapped

  • I think I'm in love with you for making this!

  • thats cool... how did you rig the sound effects and get them to trigger?

  • @redman68au It's an Arduino with a Wavshield by Adafruit. check it out.

  • Wicked awesome Daniel, that's one mutant powerchair. I've been a quadriplegic for 16 years and take no offense whatsoever. In fact I just put an article on my website promoting your hybrid chair. I wish more people put as much time effort attention and passion into powerchairs as you obviously do. More power to you mate ;)

  • @MadSpazClub cool! I'm glad it has made such a splash in your community. Overall I've only gotten 1 or 2 negative comments about not actually needing a wheelchair but for the most part it has been positive. I love creating custom creations and mixing that with a community that doesn't get custom stuff very often made me really happy. I'd love to see your article! send me a private message with that info!

  • 2:00 is why i love diy

  • @type2moo LOL I've cleaned it up a LOT since then but its a constant battle with troubleshooting wiring problems that arise.

  • That is so cool! I don't know about steampunkin' my wheelchair, but I might have to add those bubbling tubes filled with vodka on mine LOL. Might have to find someone else to drive me though after a few shots. :)

  • nice

  • very very cool!!!!

  • @CapriUni The upholstery only LOOKs comfortable the old victorian style chair backs made you sit up STRAIGHT no slouching in that chair. To answer your question the chair has 7 independent power supplies, to keep the systems separated for easy trouble shooting and to avoid unwanted motor noise in the sound system. (it makes the speakers buzz when dispensing alcohol).

The liquid system is sealed and very over engineered.

  • @SMEEON ah. Well, actually, when I send my chair back to the shop when my new seat cushion comes in, I think I'll ask the guys to adjust my seat back to the full upright position... slouching, for me, leads to sliding toward the floor. ....

But anyway -- I suppose that means you won't ever get arrested for driving with open containers, eh? ;-)

  • Beautiful!

  • ok it's loaded with chilled vodka. it was cool enough already, but it has liquor in it!!! how cool is that!!?!?!? 5 stars lol

  • This is wonderful, i saw this in Person at Dragoncon. this guy is a prince and wonderful person to talk to

  • If everything was steampunk, the world would be a better place.

  • You Genius.

  • amazing

  • wow! nearly 70,000 views already! I'm really surprised by the number of haters who spent their time saying you wasted yours. A lil' ironic :/

D*C is going to kick so much ass this year. With ten confirmed additions to our group and improvements to the original costumes, I'm sure we'll be an even bigger hit this time.

I've read a few reviews where people complained about the electrical components and how it's not steampunk. From now on, lets just say that storm did it :P

  • Bloody brilliant! Very well done sir!

  • making a steampunk version of an item implies that the original item was mechanical to begin with. Not to be a stickler but the professors wheelchair usually wasnt. Im all for steampunk but its beginning to hit a point of redundancy. Like trying to steampunk a hat rack or coffee table or some other plain object. Hey look! i steampunked my coat hanger -_-

  • Limits are boring. Going beyond what's "implied" is imaginative and fun.

  • going back, the professor had many many mechanical versions of his wheelchair. As he went from being able to walk, to wheelchair bound and then recovering, and back to wheelchair several times over several story lines. Just because it hovered in the cartoon doesn't mean that was the only version. Infact his chair didn't hover until the xmen encountered alien technology.

  • this is ridiculously cool

  • It's awesome :D

  • 2.54-3.00 lmao, wheelchair drifting! xD

    and it's awesome! :o

  • That's so awesome!

  • i want one!

  • that's brilliant. u must try to find online a greek short film called GOAL by Yiannis Veslemes, the absolute steampunk film. Your chair would fit in greatly. Again, brilliant job!!! Bravo

  • Wish i can see how you dispense drinks. Where and how do you dispense drinks?

  • @lilfilipina09 there is a

tap near the front right by the control panel. I point it out.

  • cool

  • Amazing. I do have a couple of questions though. How did you refurbish the pistons? Also if and when do you have to clean everything from the residue if you always use sugary drinks.

  • @Icispanit I have to clean it after every show.

The whole backpack liquid storage comes

    apart to clean it.

  • ohh God such a awesome video

  • I'm typically completely unimpressed by art and mechanical projects. That's why I was so surprised to be completely blown away by what you did here. Incredible job on so many levels.

  • i totally agree. i cant people like this shit

  • I wonder how much D.U.I tickets i would get with that baby! :)

  • ...How?

My God, that is just insane. My mouth was agape through the entire video. What craftsmanship, creativity--and the pure artistry of the fine details just blows my mind.

Awesome, in the original sense of the word.

  • boring

  • It's fueled by Vodka and Cranberry?

    ...

You know what? I'm about to chug ALL of your delicious fuel.

  • awe-some

  • This is the first time I've ever heard of Steampunk. Looks pretty cool.

  • I came.

  • Saw this and "JIZZ IN MY PANT."

  • @Jemwhipp Yeah. I came, too. Unbelievable!!!!

  • Whoa!

  • Pretty freaking awesome!

  • creative.

  • Gorgeous.

  • looks like a time machine piece of a cappuccino.. :) but great work man

  • wtf is that smoke coming out if its chimney

  • they should have this in a game

  • the wheel color doesn't seem to work with the overall theme..regardless..thats awsome

  • wtfrytb

  • Excellent project, and excellent execution of it!!!!

  • This guy is the man. Excellent job and attention to detail!

  • sell that shit!!!!

  • Wow, fantastic job! You've got the steampunk nailed. I love the smoke, er, steam-stack.

  • This is freaking sweet!!! Don't be dissin Gmancrap.

  • Yup, Rubber tires how steam punk.

  • this, sir, is a waste of vodka

  • F**king awesome, I want one for old age, haha

  • This chair is awesome!!!!

How long did it take for you to make it?

  • 2 months to gather stuff like the rocking chair and wheelchair base, 4 months to assemble it.

  • who cares?

  • All you haters are just jealous because for one you don't have the engineering know how to pull it off yourselves, and in all reality if you even had a microbe of his talent you would see the artistic genious behind this contraption. Also on a different note the day you can make something better is the day your comments actually mean something. Till then all of you are just sophomoric wannabe.

Also About your wheel problems try making them out of wood or mixed iron and copper .

  • wast of time. and stupid as well

  • It looks like the 1st HG Wells Time Machine movie prop.

  • wow @ the number of haters.... stay classy youtube.

  • I want to give this to my grandad!!

he would definately get all the ladies!

  • I'd floss it.

  • Where can u drink the vodka limejuice and cranberry at ur chair?

  • Comment removed

  • same tough when i saw this videos thumbnail

  • Wow that is really cool, great job!

  • weird fuck

  • cooool

  • u just pimped his wheelchair

  • This is too sad to be dorky cute.... You look like a sexual predator as well....

What else is in that Vodka Cran you're pumping out to strangers?

  • LOL, you're mean :)

  • HAhahah VODKA CRANBERRY JUICE!!!

Yeah..... I'm sure you go to all kinds of social events with that chair.

  • This is fantastic. Good job! If only you could actually buy one of these things... talk about good use of health care dollars.

  • Sick mate!

  • amazing, crafty piece of work you've got there, a tribute to steampunk styles

  • If my legs didn't work, I'd want a stylish chair like this

  • I can fix that for you so you can have your chair :)

  • this is bad ass

  • man, what a work of art. that is one bad-ass chair.

  • looks like something straight out of willy wonka fantastic job

  • I imagine one Stepeh Hawkins with that chair in the 19th century, will be really cool.

  • Vodka and cranberry? It's a Sit-n-Sip!

But seriously, I love it. :3

  • so what do u do in ur spare ?

  • Fuck yeah id take alchahol from a blad man in his early 20's that has the look of death in his face man in a steam punk wheel chair that makes unbelivably loud noises.

  • whats "alchahol"?

  • @tubepull

It's like alcohol but better... I'm surprised you haven't heard of it.

  • @jussts if all the cool kids are doing it i should get me some ;)

  • where can i buy one

  • very nice job done, end result looks amazing, if i ever have to become wheelchair bound im coming to you for a chair

  • Professor Xavier? Xaviers wheelchair hovers off the ground.

that's more like Willy Wonkas Wheelchair

  • but did they have hover technology then? i think not

  • haw, that mental image made me giggle, Hsawaknow wonka wash spelled backwards. Many many of professor X's wheelchairs rolled, and he had many different styles. His wheelchair didn't "hover" until he adapted Shi'ar technology. *nerdy nerd nerd :D*

  • oh man this is unbelievable! so cool 5 stars and favorite

  • Is that a bong on wheels? Puff around in ur house n get hiiiiiiiigh

  • That is an amazing chair. It makes me wish I had one. Oh...and if my friend is still looking at this:

    HI GYPSEA!

  • It is a very cool steampunk wheel chair, but it's hardly specifically a Prof. X chair.

  • Brilliant, but needs better wheels, to stop it looking liked a pimped wheelchair.

  • trust me, I've looked for alternate wheels. wheelchair wheels are primarily made of nylon and gray is chosen to be a neutral color to not mar or leave skid marks also for it's durability. I can possibly dye the wheels (which I'm going to try) but it will rub off any friction surfaces eventually. The chair is a work in progress, it gets upgrades all the time.. thats the fun of steam punk :D
