This is it right here.. Lil B is doing all this on purpose...Lil B is Hip Hop Head...he rapped over Lodeck and Omega One's "Still Cambodia" beat on his track called "Myspace".
I understand what 9th is saying but I disagree with him on this one. Your first few sentences acknowledges the fact that Lil B is making a mockery out of hip-hop. But I guess what I can deduce from that is "the end justifies the means". Hip-hop USED to police itself. Whack people used to get ostracized regardless of how much attention they where getting from "fans". See Hammer, Vanilla Ice for examples. Nowdays whackness is encouraged and is being co-signed because you work with these people.
@Thurobrad i mean seriously if u dont stand for something you'll fall for anything. thats what was taught in a sense, only to be replaced wit fake smiles and handshakes. i guess its the gift and the curse when we have so much access to music but it makes u irritateted at times, 9th knows him praising lil b will go a long way wit back packers, and lil b handlers knows as well. 9th wonders integrity sucks now n another terrible rapper has a bigger outlet.
@cantjustgowithit Exactly. I doubt because 9th did a beat for Lil B that his "fans" are going to hear a 9th beat and THEN found out who Pete Rock is. How does that work? An the exception doesn't make the rule. Basically all 9th did was give Lil B another legit artist to say that he worked with. 9th is now on his resume. Who knew whackness paid off like that. Hey 9th if you're reading this, my crew would love a free beat since you are so generous. Thought so. LOL...

@dominicanasoles You're missing his point entirely. The Talib Kweli analogy is explaining how Talib already has a solid foundation of fans. Who consist? People like you and I, the people who listen to very substantial music.
@dominicanasoles Talib can only go so far, and if he became a so called "Missionary" as you say, he would have to rethink his game plan entire, meaning he wouldnt be making music that he has been since he came out, he'd turn into the Black Eyed Pea's moving from genre to genre ultimately sacrificing the people who made him, and if that happens how are the new people going to get into the old Talib if hes been industrialized? Think.
Yup 9th Is A Really Intellemagent Dude. I Always Thought Lil B Sucks Like Lil Wayne And YG But After Hearing His Tracks With 9th Wonder & Seeing This I'm Convinced Lil B Is Not A Retard He's Just Giving The Mainstream Retards What They Want So He Can Make Money, That's Pretty Smart Actually LoL
@IrocChevy350 if he cared bout what "the mainstream retards" where doin to the music he'd get at em but he wants some of that retard attention n money, rap is such a microcosm of life!
Don't believe the hype cause Lil B isn't a one man Public Enemy. He's all Flav there's no Chuck D coming. Not cause the audience won't listen but he CAN'T do it. I've heard his attempts at real rap and he's a subpar lyricist who struggles bar to bar. I get 9th's point but this proves how fake Lil B is. Rather than be himself the "deep conscience" rapper, he'll play the idiot cause it gets plays that's a weak excuse and it's just lazy.
@Beyonder313 Lil B's skills are actually far above average. Listen to Real Plexx, Realist Alive, Sending Shots, The Bible etc. he's not struggling at all.
He does his swag music for attention like you said, but, like 9th stated, that's not Lil B's fault. The media pays attention to ignorance rather than intelligence. This is why Lil B's fans ride for him so hard because we know what he's doing.
@ssj6mysticboy You've obviously drunk the kool-aid and so I can't change your mind which isn't my even goal. I listened to those songs and while they are a vast improvement from his more popular material there is nothing there to suggest he is anything but a below average rapper. There is no wow factor, nothing to make me press rewind. His music is disposable and in less than 5 years he will vanish from the hip hop landscape. I wish him no ill will but I feel the era of "WACK-RAPPERS" is coming
@ssj6mysticboy to an end so I hope he saves his money. My biggest beef with him is really the lack of integrity. That's a cop out to say the media pays attention to ignorance so it's not his fault. I buy music and I do not let what's popular impact my purchases. Popular means you reach a broader audience but what is he doing with those views ...nothing. He perpetuates all the ignorant shit that feeds into the stereotypes that "RAP" isn't music. Where's the pride in his craft, where's the skills?
@Beyonder313 He exposes all the ignorant stereotypes by using satire. The overuse the words bitch/hoe, talking about drugs, guns, and money every other line in his cooking joints is him being satirical about the mainstream music. That's all you hear on the radio, he's exposing it.
Weather you like his real music or not, you deny his humbleness and positive message.
If you think Lil B is below average, who do you think is average? Now, those songs I posted were made when Lil B was 19 or 20.
@ssj6mysticboy Wow so we're calling Lil B a satirist like Jon Stewart now, ok. Keeping it simple let's look at the spectrum of Hip Hop lyrically Big Daddy Kane, Eminem, Nas, Jadakiss, Saigon vs Waka Flocka, Gucci Mane, Riff Raff, Baby (Cash Money) Silk the Shocker. In the middle exists rappers whose wordplay isn't necessarily rewind shit but quality effort is made like David Banner, 50 Cent, Ludacris, Snoop, DMX. Where does Lil B fit ? Lil B is a milk box rapper cause he'll be missing soon
@ssj6mysticboy I could say fuck Lil B and leave it at that but I rather engage in a serious dialogue about the state of Hip Hop. He is part of downward trend that has been damaging the quality of Hip Hop. Is it all his fault, no. The record labels no longer care about artist development and they look at Youtube views, Twitter followers and hop on the hottest trend. You use to have to have skills to get in the game but now you just need an internet connection. You say Lil B made this songs when
@Beyonder313 You don't have to be a satirist to use satire. Do you have to be a comedian to tell a joke? No. What do you think the downward spiral of Hip Hop comes from? Subject matter? Being wack? No to both. The essence of HH is free expression. It shouldn't matter if your a lyrical beat or not, as long as you express yourself, your an artist. The downward spiral came about when people started to down artists because what they rapped about and/or their skills.
@Beyonder313 If Lil B is part of what you think the cause of this downward spiral, then everyone is.
Also Lil B isn't signed yet. And record labels provide opportunities for young artists. You didn't have to be lyrical to get signed until the 90s anyway. Everybody wasn't lyrical in the 80s and when Hip Hop started to surface, and they still got deals.
@ssj6mysticboy ..he was 19 or 20 but Nas made Illmatic around the same age. What's the difference between these two? One grew up around the foundation of Hip Hop and honed his skills around cyphers trying to be better than the next guy. The other sees a watered down version of Hip Hop and says I can do that and contributes what to the landscape? Royce da 5'9" has never compromised his sound and through hard work look at the position he's at now. Keep it real man that's all.
@Beyonder313 So, you think Nas is average? If not, then that's unfair to use him for the very reason you stated. You can't expect Nas tier lyricism out of every 19-20 year old rapper.
@ssj6mysticboy Nas is FAR from average I believe I put him in the upper echelon in my comparison but I asked you where does he fit in the spectrum? You and I joke all the time but we don't a make living at it so we're not comedians but if you say what Lil B is doing is satirical and he makes a living at it than he would be a satirist but we know he isn't. Early Hip Hop didn't have Canibus type spitters cause it didn't know it could do that yet but Lil B isn't an MC or an artist with substance.
@Beyonder313 He's above Tyler, The Creator, but below B.o.B (mid-tier) imo. And Lil B makes a living off of his music as a whole, not just his swag music.
So, Hip Hop changed and completely dismissed its roots b/c it found out about Canibus type spitters? So, now if it's wack, it's not Hip Hop despite the expression and hunger shown by the artist? wow.
@ssj6mysticboy Here we go. Is Lil B Hip Hop...NO. I am someone expressing my opinion just like you and I've developed my own personal views and Lil B's music isn't HIp Hop it's Rap. Who am I to decide who is and who isn't Hip Hop...nobody. I don't have an elitist view of things in that if it isn't NY BOOM-BAP, "Ayo, lyrical miracle spiritual individual criminal/Subliminal in your swimming pool" type music it isn't Hip Hop but when I see a lack of respect for the art of MC'ing, when cats don't
@ssj6mysticboy even try to write intelligible lyrics anymore that when I had to reexamine Hip Hop. Rap is part of the Hip Hop tree but more like a weed near that tree. Every form of music has sub genres like Jazz which has Swing, Bebop, Latin, Acid, Jazz Fusion, Free Jazz etc. This thing you call Swag (swoop) is an interesting off shoot but it lacks any staying power kinda like Disco. So to each their own and if and when Lil B commits a real effort to music I'll be listening with an open mind.

@ssj6mysticboy Enjoy yourself sir 'cause I remember people like you in the late 80's who loved "good time" music called Hair Metal. Lil B, Riff Raff, Soulja Boy, Wacka, Gucci are Hip Hop's version of Posion, Warrant, Ratt, Cinderella and we all know how that ended. Oh and I visited your page PLEASE, please tell me you don't think Lil B and 2Pac are somehow in the same vein?
Now before the Lil B fans get too excited, what 9th is really saying is that Lil B knows yall dumb enough to buy his trash music so he gone sell it to you. THAT IS IT as far as Lil B goes but 9th is looking to use him as kind of a trojan horse to further his own agenda in hip hop. I don't agree with 9th's choice in his trojan horse because I think it will just add more idiotic behavior in hip hip. Wale, J Cole, or Lupe would be better vessels. #ijs
i agree with 9th wonder for the most part about lil b, but by conforming to this type of "rap" lil bs only making the the standards of rap and hip hop even lower.
This video reminds me why i have to keep reminding myself to stop dissing lil b.
Ive heard him actually spit sensible bars, and quite frankly was shocked when i realized he was the same dude from the Pack. Yeah that cooking music stuff sounds wack to us heads, but it's obvious hes doing it on purpose and ppl do like that stuff and it does draw attention. Ive heard him being called the 2011 young version of Kool Keith. Now that could be up for debate but i see the point of that statement.
He speaking real, and its also a double edge sword. You can say yeah, i'll mule a collaboration for the greater cause HIP HOP. But when people going around making albums called "I'm Gay" and talking wreckless, you would think someone so old school would avoid that kind of association. Afterall, this is music...not Religion. And you can actually lose fans based on association...but thats just society. I just hope hip hop has a chance at being what 9th aims for...once again.
i got mad love and respect for 9th i would even go as far to say he is the second coming of jay dee but he missed the mark. lil b is a genius becuase his music conveys strong emotion in people. he may not be the most lyrical but he is genuine and positive. even his so called "silly" songs convey real emotion.
@FreestyleFletcher How am I what's wrong with Hip Hop? You're the one who said you're problem was Hip Hop. Stop screaming into your computer screen and get a life
@aaronschainm he can't even fully respect what Lil B is doin. he has to back hand him by saying he is doing it really just to push his own music. same reason dudes work with doom's shitty ass. LIl B is the truth. Fuck 9th
@FreestyleFletcher what the fuckk my nigga!! why you dissin 9th for? hes a dope ass beat maker and ur dissing him? nigga you need to get some sense smacked in you.
@Thelonl3y1 He's a troll he just goes on rappers vids n talks shit about good artists like he'll say biggie sucks and big up soulja boy its supposed to get u mad
@unclemuscleshour the point that he made in the video. which is working with lil b gives him (9th wonder) and the people he has produced for more exposure to people who might not have heard of 9th wonder if it wasnt for "base for ya face"
@unclemuscleshour Except his actual fans usually like both of his kinds of songs. Really his silly songs just get more attention from everyone who's not a fan.
@poogawoog really? you did a poll? you got the numbers? quit playin games. people pay attention to b cause he writes catchy songs w/ dumb lyrics and has mastered the art of pr stunts via the internet. no one wants to hear him get philosophical or whatever. that shits boring. also when he tries to rap well its worse than when hes joking. he needs to stick to being fucking retarded so we can laugh.
@unclemuscleshour No poll or numbers. lol. This is what I'm seeing. When his "Motivation," video came out (which is a more serious song), it was posted up by random hip hop blogs that like Lil B and that's about it. i've seen Ellen Degeneres and Wonton Soup posted everywhere including random social sites and forums by people who just thought he was terrible. I think his silly songs have wider appeal because it includes people who think he is being very serious and just want to laugh at him.
so true

i agree with 9th wonder for the most part about lil b, but by conforming to this type of "rap" lil bs only making the the standards of rap and hip hop even lower.

Now that could be up for debate but i see the point of that statement.
spainman2020 5 months ago
He speaking real, and its also a double edge sword. You can say yeah, i'll mule a collaboration for the greater cause HIP HOP. But when people going around making albums called "I'm Gay" and talking wreckless, you would think someone so old school would avoid that kind of association. Afterall, this is music...not Religion. And you can actually lose fans based on association...but thats just society. I just hope hip hop has a chance at being what 9th aims for...once again.

i got mad love and respect for 9th i would even go as far to say he is the second coming of jay dee but he missed the mark. lil b is a genius becuase his music conveys strong emotion in people. he may not be the most lyrical but he is genuine and positive. even his so called "silly" songs convey real emotion.

except that you basically explained how most of his fans only like his stupid songs so, logically, they will likely ignore your collabo with him.

@unclemuscleshour He also said people who never heard of him are hitting him up now. so logically, you only wrote this statement to be a fuckin dick.

unclemuscleshour 8 months ago
@unclemuscleshour the point that he made in the video. which is working with lil b gives him (9th wonder) and the people he has produced for more exposure to people who might not have heard of 9th wonder if it wasnt for "base for ya face"

unclemuscleshour 8 months ago
@unclemuscleshour Except his actual fans usually like both of his kinds of songs. Really his silly songs just get more attention from everyone who's not a fan.
poogawoog 8 months ago 9
@poogawoog really? you did a poll? you got the numbers? quit playin games. people pay attention to b cause he writes catchy songs w/ dumb lyrics and has mastered the art of pr stunts via the internet. no one wants to hear him get philosophical or whatever. that shits boring. also when he tries to rap well its worse than when hes joking. he needs to stick to being fucking retarded so we can laugh.
unclemuscleshour 8 months ago
@unclemuscleshour No poll or numbers. lol. This is what I'm seeing. When his "Motivation," video came out (which is a more serious song), it was posted up by random hip hop blogs that like Lil B and that's about it. i've seen Ellen Degeneres and Wonton Soup posted everywhere including random social sites and forums by people who just thought he was terrible. I think his silly songs have wider appeal because it includes people who think he is being very serious and just want to laugh at him.
