  • What is with the kids' voices? The two girls sound American and the two boys sound British. Are they still siblings in this version?

Aside from that nitpick, I loved this movie growing up, and I am thankful that I get to see it again.

  • This is a different version (possibly American?) in the UK version, the acting was far more cheesey and, over the top. For example, at 05:11 to 05:15 when Tumnus says "Where we are now" it comes out as "Where we are nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!" in my version. Not he doesn't sound OTT here, as well but it was worst on the version I grew up with. Note: I LIKE THIS MOVIE - I just always loved to make fun of it.

  • bless this person for uploading this version!

  • Eugh, why does Edmund look like a messed-up Arnold from the Magic School Bus here?! >.< In the illustrated Narnia books and merchandise (I have a few of the books), he's handsome and with dark brown hair.

  • illuminati

  • Everyone in this movie looks scary to me lol

  • This isnt the original voices that was in this film well certainly not the one i have seen.

  • awww my grandma used to put this in for me when i was a kid happy times still think the cartoon is better than the film hehe

  • This cartoon was always so magical to me.. A+ especially now , since i am a parent and i can share this with my kids.

  • Comment removed

  • I believe this was made by the same people who made yellow submarine

  • Was Mr. Tumnus based on Jon Pertwee? It looks like him.lol

  • this cartoon is older than dirt but its way better than that stupid ass movie they came out with...thre is hidden meaning in this cartoon that the movie can never fuck with

  • omg so many childhood memories! this is the first time i ever saw the lion the witch and the wardrobe!

  • Pedo voice at 4:45.

  • I used to have this version taped on video :)

  • awww memories

  • weird to hear this without the British accent.

  • I tried to watch the BBC version, but it was just so slow & felt so dull! This has more life to it!

  • The voice actors fail....

  • @ElissaLovesRock No they don't.

  • @JohnBrody23 In my opinion...

  • pan!!!! the great sex deamon from hell with a little girl!! :) how great lots of subliminal twisted messages in kids cartoons -_________________________-

  • I think I saw this dubbed with Swedish voices (on Swedish children programmes in Swedish Television, obviously)

  • the characters in this look really gay

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I use to watch this over and over again when I was a child. This brought the child out of me...

  • mr tumnus looks like an oopa loopma O.o

  • I loveeeeeeeeeeeeee itttttttttt. it proves once more that even without significant financial support one can make something memorable and lasting. I watched this when i was 3-4 years old and i still remember the music and the characters. Watched it in Russian though :)))) VHS :)

  • hahahaha i never knew there was a animated narnia lol

  • OMG!!!! I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS IN YRS!!! I STILL LOVE IT~

  • I really don't like animated edmund

  • i remember the VHS Tape! love this!!

  • Mr. Tumnus looks like an Oompa-Loompa!

  • @JPnintendofan lol mr tumnus looks more like the offspring of a goat and an oompa-Loompa

  • @JPnintendofan Yeah really! xD

  • the very first narnia interpretation i encountered... it's nice to see it, thanks for uploading

  • I am a little bit afraid of Mr. Tumnus :D

  • @MrsBluuuuuub lol yeah he's pretty freaky in the cartoon :) but freaky in a good way imo (especially when he climbs all over the pole for no reason) XD

  • I use to know all the words by heart :))

  • This is the version I know. People might think it's strange that the American version was shown in the UK, but I think this version is much better

  • The theme for this film, I love it so much! The last time I watched this film, most people didn't even know what a DVD was! D: I used to love the little tune that Mr Tumnus played <3

  • the budget for the movie looks SOO CHEAP. lol the snow is not even flowing.

  • @SNESosT this was from the 70's!! what else do you expect animation wise?lol

  • @hotties3v3n and Snow White was from the 30's. Realistic human animation and natural movement wasn't a foreign concept in the 70's. it's just a low-budget film with low quality standards.....though i love the backgrounds.

  • this is my favorite version of the movie! this version is the first time i seen this movie I love it! thanks so much 4 having this!

  • Wow. Tumnus is creeper in this version. Lucy must be pretty naive to not run as soon as she sees him.

And I hate Peter's Voice Acting!!! Rant over.

Anyway, I'm not a fan of the character design or animation style, so I think I'll spend my time elsewhere. Everyone else enjoy the show!!!

  • 9:12 the majic snap!!!

  • omg.... i have not seen this since i was a little girl, for the 11 that dislike this, u r the new generation, you dont know quality or imagination such as this, the last unicorn, the hobbit, riki tikki. none of these epic movies.

  • @cutephicute1 I totally agree with u i was real young the first time i saw this i love this movie especially this version.

  • @pmfnr.... you took the words outa my mouth or brain. this movie traumatized me when i was a child. it was good, sad, dark, and haunting. its really hard for me to find the words to describe how this movie made me feel. this movie including the last unicorn i watched when i was very young and yet to this day and im now 32 is the one thing i remember most out of all the cartoons that has truly made a deep powerful impression on me.

  • Thanx 4 posting this!! As a child, I LOVED this. It was on HBO in the 80's all the time. Very dark and adult-like, much like The Last Unicorn! Brings back WONDERFUL childhood memories!!!

  • this totally traumatized me as a child! its very dark, like The Rescuers, its got a very eerie undercurrent to it, I truly think I got damaged from watching these. But I still love them. at least The rescuers had good animation, this actually comes across as sloppy to me

  • wtf a British classic with American accents.

  • OH MY GOSH. this brings back sooo many memories! :)

  • In spite of the recent live version's larger budget, English accents, lack of a Jardis screaming each of her lines, etc., I actually prefer this one.

  • @selenite1

fair enough.... but the story starts off in England when the children are evacuated to the countryside during the war, so for me the American accents just aren't plausible

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 You realize that I listed English accents as one of the pros of the live action version, right?

  • omg, this so reminds me of my childhood, awesome;)

  • wasnt this film made by the same people who made yellow submarine

  • @paganwolfspider YELLOW SUBMARINE? Ick, yuk, no! I hate that pop culture mess (I'm not saying it is bad, just that I hate it.) THIS, was actually made by Bill Melendez who was responsible for the PEANUTS TV specials and YES VIRGINIA. There's something special that lives in this modest cartoon, absent from all other productions. That same something special that resides in the books themselves. And, I would not even know the books if not for this cartoon. Gratitude deserved!

  • THE STANDARD for what I read and watch today.Thank you so much for posting:)

  • I love how Mr.Tumnus acts like the Cheshire Cat XD (But, she said it was Narnia talking with the others, then when she actually goes there why does she act like she doesn't know where she is?)

  • @RenegadeOfShadows thats when it flashes back to where she discovers that inside the wardrobe is Narnia

  • mr tomnas is SO freaky!

  • Some films are better in American accents, some are better in English accents. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is one of them that is better in English accents since the whole concept of it is English. It's just so weird hearing them in American accents. No offense to Americans but they basically overtake so many things from other countries. They need to give us credit as well.

  • @perfume1965 Well, the recent Disney version did it credit. Ugh, I'm looking at this one and thinking the voiceacting et the animations are terrible. Susan's head is just somewhat.... disconcerting.

  • Omg! Awe I used to love this film an watch it all the time :D bringing back Memories of Christmas when I was little awe good times

  • I haven't seen this in FOREVER! I used to watch this a lot when I was little.

Thanks for uploading! Brings back memories. :]

    ~Courtni☮Lea

  • Holy shit, I remember this from YEARS ago! Man this brings back memories~

  • Ugh Tumnus is so skeevy in this version!

  • my mother rented this for me from the public library when I was a kid. It was about 18 years ago. I have been trying to find this online and all I could remember was that Mr. Tumnus was red. Coicidentally our professor showed us this animated film today and it was like nostalgia kicked me in the face. I love it

  • Boys are british and the girls not..?

  • i remeber my sister getting this on video 20 4 yrs ago

  • I remember this from my childhood, but in swedish, i have never seen the original.

  • wow childhood nostalgia. This made me feel sad but happy. Remember this as a kid, its been 20 years since I saw it.

  • @600096120 its been longer than that since i saw it i must of been 10

  • My just turned three year old grandson is glued to this each time he visits. He is entranced by the music and story. Most of all, he loves Aslan. Yes, the emmy winning soundtrack is available. THis version is so superior to the movie. I almost always cry when Aslan is bounding about and the flowers are springing to life. Oh yes, I need to mention my grandson is named Aslan, after the lion.

  • my librarian teacher had the other students and myself watching this show back when i was a young kid in school. i love this little carttoon. i think they did a real good job on the new version of narnia. it would be fun to just go in a wardrobe and to do that.

  • I wached this when i was 4, i loved it! this is the best ever! :)

  • Omg i remember wathcing this when i was younger and crying like hell at the end...

  • I remeber watching this as a child. The cartoon is better than the movie. Thank you for posting it.

  • When I was a kid I always watched this when I was ill and I loved it, but now I just can't watch it. I'll read the book instead (or watch the new movie).

  • This is superior to the latter film in every sense, but you need to see the version with the British actors and voices, the American acccents kill it.

  • My younger sister would always buy the TV Guide just 2 C what was coming on TV day & time. Whenever this cartoon came on TV back in the 70's - 80's, we'd glue ourselves 2 the set & not utter a sound, hypnotized by this cartoon. It was so different from NEthing we had ever seen. Felt kinda creepy 2 me back then. Cartoons actually dieing. Then I saw another cartoon called, 'Watership Down'. Those kind of cartoons were so different. Just watching this makes the hairs on my arms stand on end...

  • Mr. Tumnus Has Got Mixed Up With Willy Wonka And Entered The Rong Film

  • Does anyone have this with the original English voice cast? :/ Why did they have to dub it with new accents, anyway? It's not like American kids wouldn't understand.

  • Omg.. THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS!! I never thought I'd see it again. I used to rent it so much as a kid, I can't believe it's here! You've made me pretty darn happy, lol! Hahah, thanks again! :D

  • WHY IS MR .TUMNUSES HAIR GREEN

  • It's weird to hear a narnia story in an American accent. But thanks for uploading this, I had never seen an animated narnia.

  • i always thought mr. tumnus was going to molest her when i was little!

  • The BEST!!! @pmfnr I so agree....it reminds you of all you've forgotten! Ditto on the Mr.Tumnus

  • This cartoon holds a special place in my heart, because it was how I was introduced to Narnia for the very first time. I hadn't even read the books. I watched this on TV several times with my sister, then later one of my teachers at school read the book to my class. And that was where it all began!

Now, I am a true-blue Narnia fan. I own almost all the books (just need "The Magician's Nephew"), and I plan to get my paws on every little bit of Narnia merchandise there is!

  • Why does Mr. Tumnus look like an umpa lumpa?

  • I have this movie on VHS that we recorded from the TV when I was about 7 years old. I love it to death even now, and the voices are the best that can be. I just saw the recording that I made of it from the TV today in Hebrew, and they totally ruined it... I skeeped the video to the parts when the white witch is talking and to when Aslan is talking too, and of course to hear Edmond pronouns "Turkish Delights" in Hebrew meaning... that was bad... realy bad...

Don't ever dub good movies - never!

  • I think this was the first thing that I saw that had to do with Narnia. Then I read the books afterwards. I remember I liked Lucy best because she was the youngest. (Then my little sister was born and I switched to Susan. Then I found out that she never comes back to Narnia. Finally, now my favorite is Edmund.) XD

  • this was my absolute favourite movie to see when i was little! Brings back soo many memories. Love it!

  • When you are all alone in the woods and you meet a man who offers you sweets and invites you to his home , go with him. Yeah, great moral C. S.

  • @slovan

    technicall he is a fawn so thats ok;

  • i remember seeing this when i was little

  • Is it just me or does Mr Tumnus look a lot like Tom Jones? =\

  • so is this were they got the move the cronicles of narnia ? i guess so huh?

  • NO TARDLING MCBUTTFACE!!!! If you knew how to read then you would know this was C.S. Lewis' book. Please go back to your local library and read it.

  • thanks for your fn kindness u fn jerk!

  • @bambina320 The Chronicles of Narnia were a series of books by C.S. Lewis.

This is, however, a classic animated telling of The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe.

  • why does edmund look like a nerd O.o

  • HAHAHAHA.

  • I love the Narnia series its so awsome.

  • this is adorable yet at the same time disturbing...

  • The animation may not be as good as it should be (good voice acting though), but I'll take it over movie any time!

  • good voice acting??? wtf are you talking about, they are terrible

  • I just like the performances and I've heard worse (a lot worse). To each his own.

  • better with british accents, this isn't the same at all....no soul!!!

  • Ward- Robe in Spare Oom.

  • I'd live there. O:

  • Reminds me of when I was a child, great!!

  • Dont be pissed at the American public.

We have nothing to do with this stuff.

Get pissed at our media and our government and our schooling system that helps perpetuate ignorance.

  • omg!!!

yes i knew i wasnt crazy i remember watching this as a little girl and i remember it so well...ug i loved this one so much more than te new ones!!!

  • Weird

  • Thank you for this, uploader :)

It's been years since I saw this. Great ,memories.

  • I don't know if I can keep watching. I have no idea why, I'm practically on the verge of tears watching this. I saw this when I was very, very young and it has haunted me for decades. I later read the book, which was excellent, amazing and wonderous, but something about this half-remembered cartoon really struck some primal ache inside me as a child. In that, it shares something with The Last Unicorn. With the animated Hobbit, they made a deep, powerful impression I cannot fully express.

  • The memory of my mom reading the Chronicles of Narnia were by far the best memories of childhood. I really felt like I was transported to another world that was almost heavenly. Me and my sibling used to watch this cartoon repeatedly :)

  • @pmfnr aaawww, I agree. all these badly drawn cartoons are so nostalgic of my childhood. The last unicorn is especially sad for me:(

  • @pmfnr me too

  • @pmfnr thats exactly the feeling i get when i watch this!

  • @pmfnr Those are the three same films from my childhood also. They've influence my artwork and writing to this day. Well said.

  • @pmfnr You know...I have th exact same reaction when I read "The Little Prince". something about it just makes me burst into tears and I really don't know why

  • @pmfnr Gay.

  • @ryuouji Homophobe...i hope one of you kids turns out to be gay...

  • @MrSwagger1980 Can you be anymore wishywashy with your little speeches?

  • @pmfnr This is a great movie. What are you, nuts? Well I'll tell you what was sad for me: when the Powerpuff Girls beat up Rainbow the Clown.

  • Thanks so much for this video! I saw this as a young girl and it's been my favorite ever since! MUCH better than Chronicles of Narnia, closer to the book!

  • iv been trying to find this anime movie for years thxs alot ur a legend love this movie

  • And just why is Lucy's first venture into Narnia presented as a flashback?

  • this is the original 1st movie and the best 1 the other 2 should have been made the exactly the same as this but sadly they where not and to most very poor compared to this thats why lucys first venture is flashback cos its the way it was orriginally

  • I'm sorry, but have you read the actual book? If I recall correctly, and I do believe I do, there was no flashback in there

  • yes i read the book but i thought u where talking about the other 2 films lol.yes diff from the book but as close as it gets i thought and a masterpiece :)

  • This version follows the book a lot. Even some of the lines in this movie are in the book!

  • @bouncyboy411

So does the BBC series from 1988. In fact, the 1988 series uses the dialogue more or less exactly as it is in the book.

  • Mr. Tumnus scares the hell outta me

  • @silverbullethicks I know, right? Dude... *hides behind Aslan*

  • I have the british voiced version on DVD, i'll maybe get it uploaded for those interested. Far superior, it just comes accross more genuine IMO.

  • thing is... sounds like british voice actors putting on american accents which is odd to say the least.

  • Man, Iused to watch this all the time when I was a kid. I can't join the whole "british is better"-discussion, though, because I used to watch it in danish... I was a kid, after all ^^;
