  • I love these old races!

  • Glad to have North Wilkesboro back to racing with those short track weekly series.

  • 2:08 I love that camera shot.

  • ESPN was the main motorsports network back then. All the major series were on the network.

  • At 2:18, it appears that it is Indycar action (obviously). Is the track Milwaukee?

  • It's at Sanair.

  • 2:15 Andrea De Cesaris Flipping Over

Wast It Known As Speedworld in '86 or Not because it said Auto Racing '86.

The Last Speedworld was the 2006 NHRA World Finals at Pomona.

  • no, speedworld started in 1987

  • yep and it ended in 2006. Thank you ESPN Speedworld for a fantastic 19 year coverage

  • If I ain't mistaken, the music during the starting lineup sounds sort of like "Walk of life" by Dire Straits.

  • you would be right!

    good song

  • Great add!! North Wilkesboro was a true gem and it's a shame what greed did to the track. I think it will eventually be bought and perhaps renovated for ARCA or something similiar. Still amazing how few seats were here in '86, 18,000. By the time it closed it had around 40k i believe.

  • I remember watching this race w/ my dad as a little kid

  • Nice to see with the DVD logo you have backed up your most important files of all ;). Keep the videos on coming!

  • do u have the rest of the race, who won?

    thanks

  • I miss North Wilkesboro. ARCA will be running at Rockingham this year. why couldn't they run at Wilkesboro, too?

  • I miss ESPN Speedworld. IMSA and Trans-Am, IndyCar, NASCAR Winston Cup, Formula One, Saturday Night Thunder, NHRA Drag Racing, World Rally Championship, and I can't imagine what else!

This is the way NASCAR should still be.

  • Damn, if ESPN brought back this theme ONCE, just ONCE, they'd be amazed by the response!

  • Rick Baldwin started dead last.

  • Thanks BattalionFan !

    Let's go rubbin' !

  • Back when NASCAR was nascar, not worrying about sponsors and bullshit... drivers , fans and cars. Nothing else.

  • We miss North Wilkesboro. Long live the old school Nascar.

  • how much were they and what races did you trade for them

  • and what races did you trade for them and can you list the races you have from 1989 to 1992 busch and cup

  • dude how did u get these races in the mail, trade, where ditd you get them

  • i bought them from my crack dealer on the corner

  • LOL!

nice vid batallion, generally dont see tv coverage this early!

  • @nascarman1 if he's like many of us people who have followed NASCAR for a long time, he may still have the VHS tapes since many of us recorded every race on VHS for future viewing. Of course, due to the Earth's magnetic field, many VHS tapes this old have likely deteriorated severely, I know many of mine have... so it is a little questionable whether a video this good is coming from an original VHS recording

  • This is the oldest race you have that your family taped themselves, right?

  • somewhat correct.

This IS the oldest race i have, but i got it in a trade, the oldest my family did was the 90 Daytona 500

  • nice! can't go wrong with North Wilkesboro

  • lol this is so corny

  • too bad cup cars dont run here anymore...
