At the time with a certain spec Hunters could pull the warmasters outside the room and kite them around outside while the group was inside killing Vann. Bliz later fixed this but at the time it was considered fair game by Horde (and despised by Alliance) - mostly because of imbalances in the map that gave Alliance a huge advantage. Kiting let Horde even the playing field.

What's really cool is the number of banners that pop out while fighting Vann. Beyond the good route order and obviously superior tactics, just seeing all those experienced players going for a few percentage points to shave a second or two is really damn cool. The Allies must have been going "What the hell?"

I wish we would have taken a video of one of our 10 minute, full honor runs. The level of precision was startling. We literally had the timing of the map down so we'd do it as quick as possible while getting all the honor available from capping all the towers, having none of our capped in return and getting both mines.

Back in classic, Vann wasn't buffed by the towers like he is now. If i remember correctly, for every tower you destroyed your own boss got an extra defender. So if you took out the alliance bunkers Drek would get better defence. The game wasn't really about zerging the end guys like it is now.

At the time each General had four defenders with him. When your side took an enemy tower/bunker, one of those defenders was removed.

If you had skilled hunters, however, you were able to have them run in and kite around two of the defenders. By pulling two all four would initially run out. While they were gone we pulled Vann against the back wall and killed him. Two defenders would return but not aggro if you were positioned correctly, with the hunters kiting the other two until you won.

It certainly took a good, dedicated, knowledgable team of players to pull off. I don't think anybody pulled off anything similar during this era of the game. You needed good tanks, good healers, good hunters and a ton of DPS to burn Vann down quickly.

We also used to do full honor runs, capping everything and killing Vann in 10 to 11 minutes.

When I did AV at 60 ally ALWAYS WON, in terokkar... Auchindoun.. Exodar... Blood Furnace, Ghostlands. Those were all the servers that were in it, and trust me, Allies basically always won.

it is possible because hordes are WAYY closer to the alliance boss/leader in av

also galv and drek are way closer to the door, making it hard for the ally to actually group in front of them,unlike bal and the other guy

and 1 more thing, drek has like 4 guards around him, and when the ally get close all of them attack

while for the alliance ldr u can easily kite the 3 guards and kill the guard near the door

so basically making hordes on an advantage, it doesnt matter about the hp of each ldrs

i only really play alliance because it seemed simpler the first time and there the good guys that why i joined the alliance. When i tryed out horde on every race it just seemed to dull and confusing to me. Now all i have bunch of alliance noob lvls and a 70 dwarf hunter. The only horde are 14 warrior tauren and 20 orc warlock.

as mentioned before, less than four minutes plus the bonus honor is about the same honor per minute/hour as you get doing a full run in 11 or 12 minutes and capping everything ;-)
