You said this was the type of film used in movie theathers , not so true that was 35mm as I worked in one. We did have a 16mm projector and it might be used for showing a cartoon now and again but seldom did we use. At the second theather I worked we never used 16mm .
A simple google search will get you better info than this.
HOW do you talk about this subject and NOT mention Vinegar Syndrome? THAT is something you MUST know to look for as the first indicator of a serious issue. It will spread and destroy all your other reels if you don't catch it immediately and deal with it. Also color films (if they are not LPP or IB Technicolor) will have cyan fade (turn red) over time. Poor storage just accelerates the breakdown.
what is the point of using film today? it's bulky, clumsy to carry and you need to keep it clean. it certainly did pave the way for what we have today but that would like using cassette tapes to listen to music...
@GuyJon57 Film has certain aesthetic qualities, just like cassette tapes. Cassettes have great sound quality if you have the right equipment. They have a very warm sound. Film has a realistic looking picture, compared to digital recording, it looks more organic and authentic.
@APyleOfVinyl Agreed, film is very organic and the flesh tones on a person which digital recording is unable equal right now. I only wish I had an Arri SR or Aaton on me right now so I could demonstrate it more and more to people. Best part of film is that a magnet won't @%^& up your camera and that it can handle extreme weather better.

@Kinematographer I was getting the idea that he has more influence to get himself presented as a host for some program rather than actually demonstrate his knowledge about the format.
Billy - hunt for them where ever you find vintage film being sold. Look on eBay. You might also look at some Internet film collecting forums such as 16mm-films or 16mmfilmtalk. You will have to register to be able to access those forums, but registration is free.
What are some web-sites you recomend for film stocks? Been trying to look at Kodak's and Fuji's websites, but they must be down for some reason. Anyways would you recomend hunting for stock, or doing a little more hunting and going after the ones that are being sold by features in post or other peole who've got extra.

@Kinematographer Gives that feeling doesn't he? I can present better than him blindfolded and both hands tied behind my back.
