Cool I understand..well I'll just use a tuner and spell out the keys I guess...lol tried to keep from doing the hard work but hey..Thanks anyways!!! :-)
Great vid Man!!! Quick question..if you don't mind can you chart out what keys your kit is tuned in? Batter and Reso pitch 10,12,15,16! Thanks a Ton!!! XD
@alessandrozerbone i posted this year over a year ago, im still using these tom heads, and theyre still sounding GREAT, the shells are fine as well. maybe he was talking about a single ply head on a thin shell? who knows.. if you refrain from doing this technique, thats fine.. i hope you havent had any problems because of me. :)
@alessandrozerbone - Never listen to those idiots at Guitar Center. Scott said he only weighs 130lbs. There's not a problem unless you have cheap drums.
Hey man, I have to say that I'm digging some of the videos you've made so far. I've been looking at getting a renown set myself and must say they sound awesome in your videos. On tuning however, there's to many opinions on hows, whats and don'ts. Personally, I find tuning the bottom tighter than the top on a regular set but on my bebop set, the top is way tighter than the bottom (with fyberskins). I also put blue locktite in all the lugs so they practically stay in tune for weeks. Cheers!
@blurbysherbert Thanks for your interest :D i completely agree with you on different tunnings. people have asked how i got my sound so i figured hey why not post a video ya know? im still looking for a band that suits me anyway, so maybe some day it will be worth all the time spent trying to become something.
@DaFuckinSchwartz the only reason i use my palms, is because the surface of my hand is more even, my foot obviously isnt round, and my heel is smaller than my palm, im in no rush to tune, but definitely thank you for the tip, ill keep it in mind :)
hey i like the sound of your drums there probably the best sounding drums ive herd in a while,,, im looking into buying a gretsch renown kit and i like how they sound in your videos but there miked up so i wanted to know if there good for really fast extreme metal?and are the toms good for fast fills but still sound really punchy with some attack?
@mariariaaa they have been working fine for me with metal, however im heading away from the style. i would check out birch kits if youre going with only metal stuff, they seem to project louder, these shells have thinner plys so they speak out more, but no as loud as (in my experience with metal) birch.
for example pearl masters BRX was my last drum kit, but i only had a 12 and a 16 for toms, i wanted more and got them in this kit.
i am also a drummer from new york and this is also the exact way i have been tuning my drums for about 10 years. if you guys read this and think he's crazy when he puts his weight on the head don't. setting the head on the bearing edge is key to helping keep your tone. power to you for showing other people. i did a search for catalina oak (my next kit and third gretsch) and your vids came up. gretsch for life and keep hittin skins.
interesting on the perfect fourth tuning, I have always gone higher on the reso, but I usually tune just slightly higher, I will have to give it a try.. thanks for the insight
@Jcr661 Im sorry i didnt see that post, if youd like i can tune my snare in a video to show how i go about doing it. soon i promise i will be posting an up to date video of me drumming and you will then get an idea of my new sound and techniques :D

Someone at guitar center told me that stretching the head like that with your whole body weight damages the shell and head.

You should try stepping on it rather to using ur palm. I weigh a little more than you and it is alot easier and faster you still get amazing sound
