I LOVED this. When Moffat took over it was almost like Series 1-4 never happened. I find it hard to believe that the Doctor could drop his past like a rock. He and Rose are soulmates. It's canon. The way you tied scenes together here was perfect.

this video made me and eleven/rose shipper i officially ship rose with 9, 10, and 11 and most likely every doctor to follow after 11 because Rose is the Doctor's true love forever but i still ship River/eleven haha but rose with every doctor!
First of hate the pair. Nothing against Rose, loved her at the time. But... that was three regenerations ago and she's goooone.
However, amazing video, love the mix portrayals - the scenes merge very well together and the overlaping of Rose/River words very well as well as an insight into his mind XD

@MissusSmo I used to adore River but I just can't handle her any more. Not after 'Let's Kill Hitler' which, I think, is possibly the worst episode in New!Who history. (Alongside 'The Wedding of River Song' and 'The Girl in the Fireplace' but for different reasons). I could never quite get my head around River/Doctor. Especially after finding out that she's Amy and Rory's child. That didn't sit right with me. The only other ship I've ever shipped besides Doctor/Rose was Donna/Nine, for laughs.

Don't get me wrong, he's a good writer--clever, and he writes good "monsters" and male characters, but his female characterization is awful. (Reinette, Sally, Amy, River). Even when he wrote Rose he didn't write her well and she was already established. (And Donna was slightly off in 'SinL' and 'FotD' too.) River had heaps of potential but--

@LonerCheerleader Yes its still airing. In fact it just got done airing it's sixth series. Rose, unfortunately, isn't on it anymore, though there have been quite a few references to her lately so I'm hoping that means that we'll see her in the 50th anniversary in 2013.
Rose looked into the Tardis, beat that!!! lol! I think why some of us are having trouble with River is because we havn't watcher her fall in love with the Doctor yet, or at least in a way that Rose did. Because of the time jumbleness you don't see her 'fall in love' with the Doctor, it is hard for me to be a shipper anyway.
Sorry to Doctor/River shippers, but I don't think their relationship is anything like the Doctor and Rose's relationship. I don't believe the Doctor loves River (yes, as a friend, but nothing more). They were pretty much forced together and he had no choice but to "marry" her (it wasn't a real wedding). Whereas the Doctor and Rose were truly in love and that was obvious from the start. I can't agree enough with the title of this video, River will never be Rose. But that's just my opinion. :)

@KendrixTermina This video isn't bashing River. For one, it's a fan video so @eighttimesacharm should be credited for her creativity and amazing editing skills. For two, it's pretty much showing the difference between how The Doctor acted around Rose & how he does around River. Honestly, The Doctor doesn't come across as loving River like he did Rose though perhaps he'll grow into it. That's nothing against her character, it's just how the storyline's been written and the difference in Doctor's.
@KendrixTermina I think you're wrong. Rose wouldn't be jealous. She has her own doctor. What you say is true but I think fans miss Rose/Doctor because River seems if anything, more obsessed with The Doctor than in love.
@TheElsewhere19 She WAS at what was her beginning - don't forget the "wrong order" thing. You can actually see the gradual character developement if you try watching stuff in approximately the right order - River drops the femme fatale thing in favour of some almost motherly personality traits and by "The Pandorica Opens", she has apparently become quite independent/ tried out other dudes("I've dated a nestene duplicate once...)... and probably decided she still likes the Doc best XD
Don't get me wrong, I'm a rose fan, too, but you guys need to accept that they couldn't keep the actress forever, that the show won't move forward if they have him mope over him forever and, most of all, that bringing her back over and over again would just invalidate the, you know, drama and value of what was between them. To have a meaning, a story needs an ending. Rose was never the first, or the last, or the only one (and neither is River, if course)
They had him be emo like, almost two seasons (Which is actually pretty close to how much time a RL person needs to get over stuff, on the statistical average about 3/4 as long as the relationship lasted), and Rose was recently referenced in "Let's kill Hitler", but the show can't be just self-references, they've gotta introduce new stuff, too, and I think River's story is equally complex, interesting and dramatic. They aren't referencing, you know, Ace or Jamie all 5min, because it wouldn't work
@eighttimesacharm Missing her is fully okay. Bashing River just because of shipping preference is not. YÄknow, you could have used any generic "Oh, it's just not the same without you and I miss you so much!" song without any need for bashing.

I feel Exactly like this about River and the Doctor. She's a nice character. Really, on her own I'm starting to like her. I even love the way she's messing with the Doctor 'cause it's funny. But she'll never replace Rose.
At least I can't imagine it. I dunno where DW is going nowdays, but Rose's love is the kind of love the Doctor needs the most.

BEAUTIFUL. I want to believe so hard that he was thinking of rose in A Christmas Carol at that scene. I just can't imagine it was River because he hardly knew her yet at that point.

@LonerCheerleader Yes its still airing. In fact it just got done airing it's sixth series. Rose, unfortunately, isn't on it anymore, though there have been quite a few references to her lately so I'm hoping that means that we'll see her in the 50th anniversary in 2013.

Rose looked into the Tardis, beat that!!! lol! I think why some of us are having trouble with River is because we havn't watcher her fall in love with the Doctor yet, or at least in a way that Rose did. Because of the time jumbleness you don't see her 'fall in love' with the Doctor, it is hard for me to be a shipper anyway.

Sorry to Doctor/River shippers, but I don't think their relationship is anything like the Doctor and Rose's relationship. I don't believe the Doctor loves River (yes, as a friend, but nothing more). They were pretty much forced together and he had no choice but to "marry" her (it wasn't a real wedding). Whereas the Doctor and Rose were truly in love and that was obvious from the start. I can't agree enough with the title of this video, River will never be Rose. But that's just my opinion. :)

Also, if River and Rose ever met, Rose would probably be a little jealous in the beginning, and both would have certain doubts, (Rose: OMG, there will be other after me! River: Oh, he seemed so happy back then, I only got to exist because this happyness ended :( )but I'm sure that, River not being the jealous type and Rose being essentially a nice person, they would certainly become friends after a Rocky start and kick ass together. (Think "School Reunion")

@KendrixTermina This video isn't bashing River. For one, it's a fan video so @eighttimesacharm should be credited for her creativity and amazing editing skills. For two, it's pretty much showing the difference between how The Doctor acted around Rose & how he does around River. Honestly, The Doctor doesn't come across as loving River like he did Rose though perhaps he'll grow into it. That's nothing against her character, it's just how the storyline's been written and the difference in Doctor's.

You can actually see the gradual character developement if you try watching stuff in approximately the right order - River drops the femme fatale thing in favour of some almost motherly personality traits and by "The Pandorica Opens", she has apparently become quite independent/ tried out other dudes("I've dated a nestene duplicate once...)... and probably decided she still likes the Doc best XD

Don't get me wrong, I'm a rose fan, too, but you guys need to accept that they couldn't keep the actress forever, that the show won't move forward if they have him mope over him forever and, most of all, that bringing her back over and over again would just invalidate the, you know, drama and value of what was between them. To have a meaning, a story needs an ending. Rose was never the first, or the last, or the only one (and neither is River, if course)

They had him be emo like, almost two seasons (Which is actually pretty close to how much time a RL person needs to get over stuff, on the statistical average about 3/4 as long as the relationship lasted), and Rose was recently referenced in "Let's kill Hitler", but the show can't be just self-references, they've gotta introduce new stuff, too, and I think River's story is equally complex, interesting and dramatic. They aren't referencing, you know, Ace or Jamie all 5min, because it wouldn't work

I feel Exactly like this about River and the Doctor. She's a nice character. Really, on her own I'm starting to like her. I even love the way she's messing with the Doctor 'cause it's funny. But she'll never replace Rose.
At least I can't imagine it. I dunno where DW is going nowdays, but Rose's love is the kind of love the Doctor needs the most.
