most likely yes when using the over-fly top-attack mode. it shoots an explosively-formed penetrator down onto the top of the turret. you can't put much armor on top of the turret because that makes it heavier and increases the height of the vehicle's profile, making it easier to hit from the side and harder to hide behind things.

By decieving the launcher itself, it can be jammed. That's what jammers like "Shtora" are meant to do...

More easly, if you just fire smoke granades (recent ones can even block thermal imagers) then the launcher can't see your tank, and the missle is lost.

@TuAFFalcon Well, in the normal sense of the word jamming you are right, it is not sensitive to EW, however, it is theoretically possible to jam the optics with a laser so the sight cannot track the missile. The missile has a laser beacon in the rear to allow tha sight to track where it is relative to the target, and if thet goes out (or becomes invisible) the sight doesn't work. But perhaps the term jamming is not used in optics.

@TuAFFalcon Some guys here in sweden came up with a cheap and effective thing, basically they put some tnt in a water bottle and blow it up on top of the tank when missile approaches, creates an artificial rainbow in a dome for a second that breaks up both heat, Ir and lasers. Still in testing though, but neat idea and nicer to infantry than shrapnel.

This is a nice weapon but I wouldn't want it to be the primary infantry atgm, too many things can go wrong. it must be quite height sensitive, it might fly too low and hit the tank head on, it might fly to high and degrade the shaped charge effect. It seems shaky when attacking moving targets. I would rather have spike, but these are good missiles as well.

Bill does not require two men to launch, even if it is recommended for quicker assembly and reloading.

Javelin and Bill are two different weapons. Instead of using a high trajectory and hitting from above Bill comes in low just above the tank and hits down with a shaped charge. It can be used from inside buildings and even be fired trough buildings. Bill is also able to hit tanks inside a building. If u can see the target, Bill can hit it.

The Javelin went into production around 2000. Saw operational use in Iraq 2003. It is fire and forget so the soldier can get away behind cover after launch. Its range is 2,500 m and you can select to fire a direct path to target or a top attack where the missile fires its tandem warheads into the top of the tank (which the Bill 2 does with 1 warhead). It will penetrate at least 600mm of RHA if not more. You can also use it to attack buildings and helicopters. So, research your information

the thing about the BILL2 is that it penetrates the tanks(in many cases) weakest spot.. and thats the roof and the hatches. if you want to go trough the frontal armor you need kinetic penetrator or strong tandem charge. the T-72 or T-80 have generally inferior armor. and without

ERA and the other external countermeasures, they go down quite easy.

The Bill2's main charge can punch through atleast 510mm RHA (rolled homogeneous armour plates). So it will easilly pierce all tanks in the world and hit the ground under them.

Sorry Fusionstar916, the Bill2 is superior to the Javelin. Not only is the javelin old, it's also designed to attack positions, such as bunkers and houses. The Bill2 is primarily for engaging tanks, and since its attacking from the top it'll take out all tanks out there, when the javelin just bounches off

there is no evidanvce of russian anti tank missile being used by resistance in labanon. Any ways i think a total of 12 tanks were destroyed. Merkava didnt perform well in the mountains. Search BBc news on Merkava.
