@pinkipink45 after the first success she quickly began to have too great ambitions (refused to dance minor roles and as a result she spoiled relationship with her teacher and theater authorities) and then health problems began.
1:17 ...I have to appreciate the fact that the dancers in the background don't even flinch even though they're only a few inches away from being kicked in the face.
florine is suposed to be a princess who was jailed into a tower adn her price who has converted a blue bird by a evil spell is traying to teach her to fly so he said listen and learn thats why she does her hands like listening adn the syncopation of the music its marqued as a fluttering like hands
Korsakov doesn't quite pull off the bluebird thing here (surprisingly) and comes off as just a guy dancing in a blue, feathery costume - not his finest hour
Korsakov is indeed a fine dancer, but he does tend to be a bit poker-faced much of the time. In the Swan Lake Act I pas de trois he never cracks a smile, for example. It's a birthday party, for heavens sake!! Bolshakova is delightful.
oh yeah, she looks really tall, at least taller than the guy. and yes, it is hard for tall dancers... i'm 1.77 m and i'm perfectly aware of the problems with coordination and pace... so bravo... she's perfect!
I'd do ANYTHING if youc ould upload the full Act III as performed at this gala--I'v ebeen dieing to see this recreated production fot he original 1890 sleeping beauty for AGES

xXbealyXx 3 years ago
i agree, it doesn't look bird like
qweenkahng 2 years ago 3
Her costume isnt supposed to be bird-like. She is Princess , not a bird.
mrlopez2681 2 years ago 4
she doesnt even look like a princess though haha

fot those who dont know, these are reconstructions of the original costumes of 1890
mrlopez2681 3 years ago 3
Which era of art and which country was it from?
I cannot recall seeing stripes as such from my art history lessons.

"The Sleaping Beauty" premiered in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1890.
mrlopez2681 3 years ago
Somehow she looks odd. Reminds me more of a chicken that has just broke from the shell. Forget Florina.
puppylove0808 3 years ago 4
she seems rather tall.
and i say bravo for that.
im a dancer and im almost 6 feet.
its hard.

all shes missing is insanley arched feet and she would be svetlana zakharova. she is gorgeous. she was reeealy off music for her echappes.
i feel so bad for anton! that costume looks so hot and heavy!
tutus4life 4 years ago
this is svetlana zakharova?
Born4Ballet 4 years ago
nope. svetlana zakharova's video can be found by typing "svetlana zakharova sleeping beauty"
mochabubble 3 years ago
no its Yulia Bolshakova, the tutus4life meant that if she had insanely arched feet like svetlana they would be almost the same
LoraineElizaSouza 3 years ago
yeah sorry about the mix up, i meant that she would be almost exactly like svetlana if she had svetlana's feet.

I preferred Anton in Le Corsare when I got to see him in St. Petersburg in April.
