i had the 9/11 memorial on tv and i was washing dishes, i heard paul simon playin that guitar like he does so damn good and ran in the living room to watch it, left the sink on. it was amazing, just like the first time i listened to him...
@57messy It's good to know one's priorities...I'm always reminded of visiting my mom on the weekends when she could have us...we'd always put this album on and make dinner n stuff :)
@Janteral I love it, but I prefer the original recordings, from years ago. They had a better energy to them, like they cared more about the message they were conveying. Perhaps this is what the dislikes mean - someone just does not like this version?
These two were just brilliant together. I can sort of understand why Paul Simon wanted to go it alone but as great as he is at writing the material, he really didn't have what it takes as a solo performer.
Art's voice has a quality that many of Paul's songs "need"... whether he recognised that fact himself or not! Still, together or apart they are always worth listening to!
If you are a truth seeker, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click on the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says. Everyone needs to see this. The Present will turn this world right-side up if it reaches enough people. You will see what I mean when you read the first page.
The best music ever ... How blessed I feel to have grown up during the 60s and 70s when the best music was written and sung. When songs has words that meant something and can still resonate with listeners. Lovely to hear Paul Simon sing it at Ground Zero yesterday. Thank you Paul, for all the lovely songs you've written.
They don't have a huge stage show, they don't have a monster backing band. It's just two guys standing there on a stage. And yet, every time I hear them sing this, I get choked up, and it brings a tear to my eye. Why? The MUSIC! They are truly masters of their medium, arguably two of the best pop singers of all time, and even better when they are together. Their harmonies are some of the best I've ever heard, they really understand how to craft a great song.

cats in the cradle, landslide, go your own way, time after time, sound of silence, this is reall music, listen to the words, they make a story unlike to days music,
even 90s hip hop tupac and biggie that was great music because they told a true story about what they knew.
yea you know what I don't like about Paul Simon? He doesn't do all those cool runs with his voice and stuff. He just stands there with a guitar, sings these pure, honest notes, writes heartfelt lyrics that sound more like poetry (stoooopid), plays pretty, simple yet complex guitar.... Yea, lame. He's a total crap singer/artist. He should really use some auto-tune...
Call me stupid, I don't care. Paul Simon is a weak singer. This is a great song, good performance, but he's just not a good singer. Barely good enough to get by. But that's my opinion.
@Skeletine If you knew anything about Simon&Garfunkel and their history you would know how true your comment is. Art is the voice Paul is the musical talent and only sings harmony to compliment Arts voice and the song. The very thing you are speaking of caused strife between them for many years, but I am so glad they grew passed that and recorded as mature men. LOVE THEM!
Truly THE BEST duo ever in the history of music..talent beyond belief. Real singing without the special effects and computerized techno garbage.. all too soon they will be taken from us and the world will suffer a great talent loss never to be replaced

these guys are probably the best duo in the history of music.. PERIOD!! the guitar of Paul and the voice of Art make it the most memorable music that touches even the deepest point of the coldest of hearts.
@hathux Good post! Couldn't say it better. Love all music except for RapCrap (is that music or bad slam poetry?) , but always come back to these guys. Wish they would go on...
This reminds me of my Best Friend whom I've Lost..we used to sing this song together ,But He got into an accident while driving home from Bear Valley Ski Resort,He run on a black ice and his car hit a tree..This song is dedicated to him..Hey Bro I just Wish we could Snowboard again...I know you always guide me and stay with me when I go extreme..I still wear your favorite headband..Even though you are not here personally present I know you are with me in Spirit..BestFriends are Priceless..

i remember this being the most controversial performance the grammy's have ever put on because they weren't friends. I think they only rehearsed once together before actually performing live. They received once of the longest standing ovations in grammy history as well.
