@HorizonRCdotCom Hey Mr Todd Hodge from Losi Developer, i hope you are reading a lot of post on the web , and hope that you are going to bring out that BRUSHLESS MICRO MINI for 2012???really dont see the sence of upgrading 150 bucks into it to make it brushless when you could bring it out ... would be sweet and think the buyers of losi would grab them up. Maybe you could pass this on HorizonRCdotcom ?
Just recently bought two of these cars from the excellent modelsports.co.uk, and wondered if there was anyone making different bodies/shells? I have searched, but so far found only blanks of same shape. Wondering if I have to make them from scratch.
@camerona25 You can always get them all ;) If you're more confined for space I'd go with this. If you have more room to run then the Desert Truck or Mini-T would be larger and faster.
These are great, but mine got REALLY HOT when i put the xcelorin 2 cell lipo in it. the motor just quit on me, but then i turned it off, turned it back on, and thank God it still worked fine. i think im gonna limit my lipo runs to 5 minutes with 7-10 minute breaks in between to let it cool down. just to be safe :) Im gonna look for a way to take off the chassis cover and cut some air holes for the motor to cool down, and then put it back on with the air holes.
I'm a 54 yr old kid, bought the #3 Ralley car a few weeks ago, also bought the battery upgrade. This is one awesome R/C speed demon!! I love it...I also dabble in Heli's, planes, trains, and even a hand made fan ducted UFO that flies as high as 500 feet, I installed LED lights on it and let it rip....I'm sure there will be some UFO reports coming from the Chicago area real soon, this thing looks realistic!
"We really don´t advise that you run ém in any dirt or sand"-it´s an offroad model, for goodness´sake! My HSP Brontosaurus chews up a spur gear and pinion every three weekends-when will manufacturers address this?
@toddnet996 Kill, no, but it will wear out a little quicker than the NiMH. We've got a lot of running on ours here with the LiPo and the motor is still going strong.
@HerpaWings10 its a motor that doesnt have holes and its faster than a normal brushed motor, i got the sidewinder brushless combo, 8000kv motor and esc
I just purchased one today and have about an hour on it. It is a blast, but the 220mAh stock battery runs out pretty fast (10-15minutes). It is amusing, and handles great. I think it hits a solid 12mph, maybe 15 now with some runs. I don't think the lipo would be "too fast", and if you only got the same run time but at 20% faster speed, it would be awesome. I am disappointed about not recommending dirt, being that it's a rally car and does great on smooth dirt. It's a blast!
Too bad they had a drunken monkey film that indoor polished concrete footage...I wouldve really liked to see anything accept the car flying out of frame...
Is it just me but if you pause when the battery comes up, i see a six cell battery, not a 4 cell (look at the indentions in the sides) so it would be 7.2v not 4.8v. Horizon?
@ThePCRetard To provide more information about the vehicle pre-launch. We'll do a full-blown review once it starts shipping and we get our hands on one.
Here's an idea, Losi. Why not make something like this in 1/10 scale that people will actually buy and enjoy. I'm sure people wouldn't be upset by paying an extra $100 for something you can actually drive outside. Bring back the old Losi quality.
Hey HorizonHobby I have a question for you folks. Losi has the rock crawler, the SCT, and this rally car that are micro 4WD vehicles... with you folks dealing with Losi often and talking to them a lot - do you know of plans to make a 4WD vehicle like the micro HIGHroller? I won't buy the micro HIGHroller because of it not handling grass, and the micro Crawler is way to slow for racing around. Anything known about a bridge for the current product gap they have?
@TheRoostCrew I don't know of anything like that being worked on but I will take your message and forward it on to the design group for them to check out your feedback.
@HorizonRCdotCom That may be good... I'm not sure how much business, but they just lost my business as I bought a Redcat SumoRC 4WD 1/24 RC Truck. Not because I don't like Losi, merely because they have this gap in product.
@XU6HSV Ok, the only bad thing about is it doesn't have all the snap in stuff like the Losi does. So if you think of a car, like the Micro-T by Losi - then take away all the upgrades... but also know that you can upgrade it but you just don't have an already set product meant for it. Does that make sense? I can upgrade the Sumo, but I don't have a static list of parts, so I gotta do a lot more research and/or guessing.
looks awesome! I really want one! Hope they come out at end of august as expected! I recently got the micro DT and it is a lot of fun, but does tend to slide or 'drift' a lot due to its light weight(on blacktop). This 4wd 1/24 looks just amazing, a nice little package with a lot of engeneering put into it! Can't wait to get one! Thanks Losi!!!
@suvyMan2007 It was actually an issue with the original footage. I don't know what camera it was shot with but I did notice it too. Unfortunately all the footage shot in that area has a little of that "streaking" at points. This was the cleanest footage I could find.
@stampedevxl I don't know yet, I did not have a chance to wrench on one as of yet. When I know I will let you know. I will tell you that, looking at the exploded views from the manual it looks like the axles are indexed and that's how they engage the wheels.
do you know of antenna breakage, i know the other micros did with their brittle copper wire, did it seem similar, if so i will probably just put shrink tubing over the wire before i use it
come check out Microtforums, we just opened a whole new section for these guys. tons of info, :) i cant wait to get my hands on this to make a drifter :)
@spiffinspudater That's what I needed, thanks, got the rest from the website. It's about 1/2" too short for the Hasegawa Corrola rally car body but the Subaru Impreza may work.
I just ordered my 1/36 truck a few days ago from Horizon (Great service) and now this is released! I am super stoked and will likely have to give it a shot depending on what fun little hop ups are released for it.
Do you happen to know how this thing compares in size to a 1/24th plastic model car (width mainly)? Anything can be modded to work bout a side by side would be great. I know they all vary but if you can extend the chassis and wheels it could be an interesting vehicle to customize.
@deadeye120596 I don't believe that pack would physically fit in the chassis. The recommended Li-Po is LOSB9825 for just the pack or LOSB9635 includes the pack and the wall charger
@DocWolph There were 1/10-scale rally cars about 10-years ago from Losi (Rally Weapon), Associated (TC3 Rally) and HPI (I think it was based on the Pro-2). The class bombed. Perhaps the time is right now, I don't know, but I would be all aboard 1/10-scale myself.
@HorizonRCdotCom that sucks that it bombed back then, but why all this micro stuff? these rally cars wont be able to handle any real terrain, might as well have been small touring sedans.
@HorizonRCdotCom I am not aware of the AE and Losi 1/10 rally kits. Though AE does do 1/18 rally cars. I know Tamiya went crazy with it and still has a few for sale. HPI's I know about. Frankly I expected Rally to make a comeback with 4WD making a comeback. Maybe SCTs will push that over into reality.
if you actually think about it, losi just wants money and nothing to do with their customers. If you get a losi product, you get 3 pages of crap saying that the buyer is responsible for damage, and they will only refund you if it had defects. Traxxas, on the other hand, gives you a lifetime warranty and has amazing customer support. Traxxas is the way to go.
looks nice but they need to include a 2.4ghz radio system and brushless and lipo full ball bearing and full aluminium shock tower shafts and all that other parts that will be the best ill buy it
@YourFriendlyMe There may be something in the future but all those items you mention add to the initial cost. You have to remember this is only $109.99. With all those upgrades you'd be well over the $200-$225 range easily.
@HorizonRCdotCom ill be willing to pay for it on one purchase thn getting all the upgrades one by one and pay for aditional shipping you guys should keep that in mind
@macawskater At your own risk pretty much. The chassis isn't totally sealed and there's an opening in front of the chassis where the servo horn pokes out. This could let dirt in and possibly damage the gears.
@HorizonRCdotCom I think horizon is right, it's sooo much easier for me to buy $20 for the towers, and then $50 for the brushless, over $250 all at once!!!!!
@HorizonRCdotCom EXACTLY, also, if someone already has a micro that is converted to brushless, they dont have to buy a whole nothr system that they won't need, they can just put all the electronics from the micro to this sub-micro 4x4!!! =))
Yea but only on the back cause the micro t/dt are rear wheel drive

sephiroth1386 1 month ago
You guys know nothing about these...
It is possible to make it brushless and 2s lipo for less than 100 without a spektrum.
You can fit Micro t/dt rims on this as long as you have 4 rear t/dt wheel shafts.
And this is not faster than a Micro t, it is slightly slower but has more torque.
Your replys to comments is all bias to what you THINK.

if you actually think about it, losi just wants money and nothing to do with their customers.

@YourFriendlyMe Absolutely understand what you're saying. Like I say there may be a more tricked-out version later, I don't know.

@HorizonRCdotCom will the short course version be able to run on dirt/off road?plz rply
macawskater 1 year ago
@macawskater At your own risk pretty much. The chassis isn't totally sealed and there's an opening in front of the chassis where the servo horn pokes out. This could let dirt in and possibly damage the gears.

@HorizonRCdotCom o ok i was also wondering cause in the picture gallery it shows them running in dirt so i wanted to know.anyway thanks.

@macawskater Yeah, I know. Pretty much at your own risk on that one.

@HorizonRCdotCom I think horizon is right, it's sooo much easier for me to buy $20 for the towers, and then $50 for the brushless, over $250 all at once!!!!!
stampedevxl 1 year ago
@stampedevxl Plus you have guys who may not want all the aluminum parts due to the added weight but would want the brushless.
HorizonRCdotCom 1 year ago
@HorizonRCdotCom EXACTLY, also, if someone already has a micro that is converted to brushless, they dont have to buy a whole nothr system that they won't need, they can just put all the electronics from the micro to this sub-micro 4x4!!! =))
